So tell us hsingh what you are meaning.I know you read these posts.Do you think it's ritualistic to take Amrit,naam simran,keeping hair etc?

I thought you were not talking to me.. Yes and no. If you take amrit because everyone else is doing it then yes it's a ritual, if you take amrit to join and group or get fame within a tribe then it is a ritual. But if you take amrit to find god then it isn't.

If you repeat a naam mantar like a parrot, or you trying to build up your avasta, or you think a mantar has a magical power in it, or you think by repeating a mantar again and again will lead you to God then it is a ritual. However if you try to understand why this mantar was given and try to do shabad veechar as gurbani mentions then it isn't a ritual.

Wow, why is everyone so judgemental nowadays? I was simply providing an explanation for what I thought veerji meant. There's no need to make insulting, defamatory assumptions about people.

Agreed, that's essentially the point I was trying to make earlier, that just doing the action won't get you anywhere, you've gotta do it with conviction and meaning.

Btw brushing your teeth, taking a bath, washing your hand are all rituals. They have deeper meanings behind them, sikhi doesn't reject rituals it rejects blind rituals- things which have no phaal or fruit or any spiritual merit like throwing an idol in the river or throwing water backwards, or kissing the black stone of mecca, or throwing stones at the devil represented in mecca, or bowing to the pagan temple kaba. Guru shows the true path of bhakti is in the heart that god resides within that. If we are going to equate nitnem to lipservice then you got to realize the power of gurbani as it is to other man made books.
