KhalsaJi,

Bollywood never seems to tire of its efforts to taint the image of the Sikhs, or for the simple truth to surface.

In a forthcoming film on the anti-Sikh riots, Anupam Kher has been reportedly fired for clearing the film at the Censor Board.

' . . . Criticising the Centre's decision, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt claimed he had received unconfirmed reports that Kher was replaced as he had cleared a film on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots . . .' (http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_1055599,001100030009.htm)

Whether Kher passed the film on grounds of truth or lies, or whether the Censor Board really is the one that cannot fathom the truths of the riots, remains to be seen when the film releases (if it ever does).

I think he gave permission to release the film. right?

If India doesn't allow the release of any anti-sikh riots film, can we make it here, at Hollywood? If someone in Hollywood can help us, it will be the greatest thing in the world. If this film is made here, it will be shown in threaters all over the United States and around the world and people will get to know the truth what happened in 1984 and secondly, they will get to know who sikhs are. Is this possible?

If Hollywood made a film on Sikhi in general, these goras that are gettin heart attacks after watching passion of the christ will start to drop dead in the hundreds.

Id rather see a movie on showing the birth of Sikhi and its wars and battles and what not.

Imagine the scene for Baba Deep Singh ji's bit vs the Moghuls, swear to God I always picture a movie with that scene in my head.

Baby blue with yellow, huge khanda sword, just this massive guy whos slicing and dicing, head partially cut off, holding his head with one arm keeping it on his neck and using the other to weild this 5 and a half foot, 70 some odd pound sword.

MIND BLOWING

Lakhvir, what do you mean by cleared the film?

WaheguruJi Ka Khalsa. WaheguruJi Ki Fateh!!

It seems like he cleared the film for release (without much or any censorship). I believe that the rest of the Board must have found some scenes in the film that would portray the Indian Government and the fanatic Hindus from the actual Sikh perspective, and not from the false one painted by the authorities.

Well the real controversy is slightly different.

He(Anupam Kher) didnt clear(pass) the movie on Gujarat Genocide but he cleared the movie on 1984 Genocide.

So the Govt is seeing him a pro BJP and anti-Congress guy.....

The govt is doing a what it calls a detoxification drive.....a drive to remove people linked with RSS occupying high office .

What remains to be seen is whether Kher is RSS linked guy or what.

What he did good is that he cleared the 1984 movie and what he did bad that he didnt clear the gujarat movie.....though eventually he had to clear the gujarat movie too.....probably due to cong pressure
