One Gurpurab, Two Dates. Why The Confusion?

Visakhi is birthday of Khalsa so there should be a Khalsa Calendar.

Now if you believe historians & dates then some Bhagat Sahibaan's were born long before Guru Nanak Dev ji.

That means they received Dhur Ki Baani first !

So technically Sikhism originated from them.

What exactly is the significance of any date in history?

We should remember our 10 guru's daily. Just as we should remember the sacrifices of the panj pyare, chaar sahibjadey, 40 mukhtia, Singh + Singhnian who gave their life to the panth etc. We remember them daily in ardas and not a day should pass by where do not remember these brave warriors.

It's nice to have a fixed date for the young kids who aspire towards Sikhi but we should remember these sacrifices daily.

This is a misconception spread by the European historian Max Arthur Maccauliff that the Bhagats and Guru Nanak Dev had no link by setting the incorrect dates of their birth. Our ithihas tells us that all the Bhagats were contemporaries of Guru Nanak Dev jee and recieved naam dhikhya from Guru jee before they recieved Dhur Ki Bani. Read Giani Gurdit Singh Jees book on ithihas bhagat bani. Giani Gain Singh also writes how the Bhagats met Gurus jee in Ayodhya and became his Sikhs. Sant Giani Gurbachan Singh Bhindranwale also say this.

Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji doesn't need a human form, the Bhagats still learned from them despite coming before 1469, Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji is timeless and therefore could've still taught the Bhagats without a physical saroop.

The Embodiment of Light, the Lord Himself is called Guru Nanak" Ang 1408 Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. He is above birth and death and was the True Guru since the beginning of all time, not just after 1469.
