Word Doc to PDF file conversion?

I've tried something called paper port software and it converts to PDF but all the formatting from the Word Doc isn't there and also the word doc was 32kb and the converted pdf is 1500 kb. Is there better solutions out there? Please help, thanks.

There's a program called Macromedia Flash paper (I don't think it's the same that you're talking about), It acts as a virtual printer, and can convert files to PDF format

:T: If i remember correctly, acrobat distiller software should do the job nicely. It works the same ways as the above solution SmartSingh pointed out. You simply send the doc file to the printer but it doesnt print it. It asks u to save it.

Exactly what you need is Adobe Distiller, Unfortunetly it's not free. I think you best option around is PDF creator which is very powerful, has lots of options and a stand alone drag and drop convertor ( http://sector7g.wurzel6.de/pdfcreator/index_en.htm ) . If this is too much for you or more than what you need, then i would suggest PDF995 (http://www.pdf995.com/) The downside to this free software is that an advert is opened in your browser every time you create a PDF, but this is a small price to pay. If it really annoys you it is possible to upgrade for $9.95.

I use virtual pdf printer, just do a search. it makes SMALL file sizes without any change in quality.

heres a comparision, i had a 2 page word document (67kb). I used acrobat 6 to make a pdf which came out to 1.3 mb.

I used the virtual pdf printer and it was about 100kb, same quality as acrobat.

Another option is Ghostscript, and the good thing about it is that it is completely free and creates very good Postscript output.
