The second meditation, is where u dont try to quiet ur mind. The job of mind is to think like hearts is to pump. So instead u make the mind think of something. And use a primordial sound like mantar. And this is faster than mindfulness to get bliss and easier. This is the simran in sikhi. With the mantar waheguru.

U should check her out. She explains how mefitation is better than mindfulness.

Its sad tho that we others r learning from our heritage though we r not.

No meditation or mindfulness is anything compared to Waheguru Simran and Bani. Guru Sahib gives proper Anand whereas these mediation techniques may just clear your mind for a while and that's it.

ਆਨੰਦੁਆਨੰਦੁਸਭੁਕੋਕਹੈਆਨੰਦੁਗੁਰੂਤੇਜਾਣਿਆ॥
Bliss, bliss - everyone talks of bliss; bliss is known only through the Guru.

ਜਾਣਿਆਆਨੰਦੁਸਦਾਗੁਰਤੇਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਕਰੇਪਿਆਰਿਆ॥
Eternal bliss in known only through the Guru, when the Beloved Lord grants His Grace.

ਕਰਿਕਿਰਪਾਕਿਲਵਿਖਕਟੇਗਿਆਨਅੰਜਨੁਸਾਰਿਆ॥
Granting His Grace, He cuts away our sins; He blesses us with the healing ointment of spiritual wisdom.

ਅੰਦਰਹੁਜਿਨਕਾਮੋਹੁਤੁਟਾਤਿਨਕਾਸਬਦੁਸਚੈਸਵਾਰਿਆ॥
Those who eradicate attachment from within themselves, are adorned with the Shabad, the Word of the True Lord.

ਕਹੈਨਾਨਕੁਏਹੁਅਨੰਦੁਹੈਆਨੰਦੁਗੁਰਤੇਜਾਣਿਆ॥੭॥
Says Nanak, this alone is bliss - bliss which is known through the Guru. ||7||

Only through Guru Sahib can we get actual Anand.

After amritvela baniyan I like to just straight my back, close my eyes and just focus on my breathing. It’s no calming and peaceful. However if I don’t jap ‘vaheguru’ will it not count as meditation if so is it pointless to do it?

Do one thing, When you do your Nitnem. Focus on what you are reading.

And when you sit back and close your eyes, don't CHANT waheguru when you don't feel like it, rather relate the baani you read in your NITNEM to your daily life and see if you are actually looking Gurmat life or if you're just pretending like living it.

Cuz only doing Nitnem is not Gurmat. Only Applying it to your life is Gurmat.

Hope that helps
