I sent an email to Kraft to see which cheeses were safe for vegetarians, this is the reply I got:

Thanks for visiting our website!

The product contains Chymosin which is a microbiologically produced

coagulating enzyme. This enzyme (Chymosin) is not derived from any

animal

In addition to containing Chymosin, SHARP & EXTRA SHARP CHEDDAR CHEESES

also contain animal derived enzymes which assist in flavor and texture

development. The enzyme used is NOT a pork enzyme.

The process of converting milk into cheese is dependent on coagulating

through the use of this enzyme.

Our enzymes are purchased from a reputable supplier.

My mother has had email dealings with craft and they told us the ONLY safe cheese they make for STRICT vegetarians is velveeta, which I think tastes absolutely HORRIBLE!

The rest of KRAFT products cannot be trusted. Because they are the same company as CAMPBELLS and PREGO. Prego has released statements to vegan groups saying that NONE of their sauces are vegi safe and that the only campbells products that are vegi safe are V8.

I would stick with that line as if they are telling you something else, either they dont know or dont care. Remember this is the same company that is OWNED by PHILLIP MORRISS and MILLER BEER.
