We have forgotten our uniqueness, separate and distinct identity and also our glorious heritage. To explicit our present situation there is a story which goes like this....

Lion --> Sheep --> Lion

There was a lioness and her cub in a jungle. One day the lioness was short dead by some hunters and the lion cub in its search for its mother got mixed up in a herd of sheep. As the time went by, the lion cub acquired the habits of sheep, started eating grass, other leaves and also started drinking milk. Eventually, it even started to make meek sounds the sheep make. One day, a lion prowled the area and his roar sent all the sheep helter-skelter. Only the lion cub remained on the scene eating grass and occasionally making the meek sheepish sound. The lion was astonished to see a lion cub eating grass and behaving like a sheep. He came near the lion cub and asked "who are you?" The lion cub replied, "I am a sheep." The lion told him, "No, you are a lion" But the lion cub insisted on being a sheep. The lion took the cub to a nearby pond and showed him their images and their similarity. There was a sudden change in the mind of the lion cub in his new-found images and self-discovery but still continued to make the meek sheepish sound. The lion took the cub to his cave and there it asked the cub to adapt the lions habit which the cub fefused at first, but later gave in. By now the cub was aware of his being a lion and relaised that he must acquire the hahits of a lion. As his environment and food habits changed he soon began to roam and roar like a lion."

The position of the Sikhs is quite similar to that of the lion cub before its self-discovery. The only way to get the Sikh community out of the mess is to follow the path shown by our Great Gurus.
