'ek Niwas' - Update

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa

Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Dear sadh sangat, a humble request in your presence. As you know from previous notices, ‘Ek Niwas’ of Dudley Road, Wolverhampton has carried out immense disrespect to the king of kings, jaagdhi jyot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. This has been done by carrying out Brahminical acts, idol worship, rituals, and many other superstitious acts, all of which are condemned in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

An even more painful point being that in the place where Guru Ji is kept; giddha, bhangra boliyan and other manmat acts are being carried out. It is clearly obvious that Guru Ji is kept there for business purposes only and all donations are being used to fill the stomachs of those responsible. This is a great dishonour to Sikhism and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

To put a stop to this disrespect, Singhs arranged a meeting with ‘Ek Niwas’ and police officials at Wolverhampton police station. Due to certain reasons the meeting was ended, ie. ‘EK Niwas’ representatives not turning up.

The next meeting has been arranged for Thursday 6th July 2006.

In order to cause rifts within the Sikh Community, members of ‘Ek Niwas’ have posted a message on an internet website stating that a meeting took place and that it was decided that ‘Ek Niwas’ may open up its own Gurdwara with the backing of the Sikh community and sadh sangat. The message is shown below:

"Congratulations to Ek Niwas – A New Sikh Gurdwara To Be Opened.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh

Respected Sungat,

I have been informed that Ek Niwas are going to open a new Sikh Gurdwara.

You might ask why?

People said the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (SGGS) held at Ek Niwas was being disrespected. This was certainly not the case. Mata Ji has been doing it’s seva for the past 42 years. The SGGS has been fully respected.

With Sikh Leaders requests for the SGGS to be taken away from Ek Niwas, it is unmistakable that this will never happen.

The immense respect that Mata Ji has for the SGGS it is impossible for it to be taken away from her. With so much love and affection she has for the SGGS, a Gurdwara will be built as a compromise. This will take a lot of effort and money but will be worth it due to the full respect of the SGGS by Mata Ji. This is such an honourable thing to happen.

I have heard that the Sikh Leaders have objected to the opening of the Gurdwara by Ek Niwas. This is rather confusing due to the compromise that is inherent. But what is fascinating is that I have spoken to Sungat from lots of areas and other Gurdwaras who all give their support.

I personally give Good Luck to Mata Ji for her sheer determination and respect for the SGGS for taking this decision to build a Gurdwara. God Bless her."

Sadh Sangat ji, this is totally false and a complete lie. This situation is growing by the minute and a solution is required.

To this matter, this a humble request that ahead of the meeting on the 6th of July 2006, we request your presence on Sunday 2nd July 2006 at Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Sedgley Street, Wolverhampton for an open meeting where your views/opinions/ideas/solutions will be greatly appreciated.

As you know, the Sangat has received a letter from Akal Takht Sahib stating that ‘Ek Niwas’ does not have permission to have parkash of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and they are fully behind the UK Sangat.

Once again we request your presence:

Fateh,

As far as i know from the punjabi version of the press release, all the main gurdwara heads and granthis will be present from the West Midlands.

As for how many Sikhs are involved....Are we not the Sikhs?

We are all involved.

Of course we are, it is our duty to make sure Guru ji is not disrespected.

Will the Ek Niwasi goons be coming along this time do you think? If not the police should be made aware that we are trying to resolve the situation but these people are not responding. W hich leaves us with no alternative but to recover the Guru Maharaj from their clutches!

Don't you all think it would be wise to speak to our elders who attended the meeting first?

Khalsa Ji,

The translation above is from this weeks press release in Punjab Times from the elders. Just to clarify the elders have called for the national meeting. Therefore, with the intensity of the issue in mind we must all make the effort to show a united front and attend.
