Almost 163 years ago, the brave yet doomed forces of the Khalsa/Punjab Army stood and fought against the machiavellian East India company and British empire. They did this at an entrenchment called Sobraon, which was a tactically inept place to put an army, but such was the treachery of the dogras. Our forefathers fought bravely and could have ultimately won, but the enemy were too numerous and knew that the Khalsa were trapped. At the end of the battle, as many sikhs tried to swim across the river, the british soldiers and sepoys rushed to the riverbank and fired volley after volley into the water to make sure they would never have to face such a gallant foe again. There…

WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH "Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them - work, family, health, friends and spirit and you're keeping all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls - family, health, friends and spirit - are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for balance in your life." How? Don't undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we ar…

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh One time as Sant Baba Harnaam Singh Ji was sat down he told his beloved student Sant Baba Nand Singh Ji that he had a great urge to listen to Gurbani and that five simultaneous Sri Akhand Path Sahibs should be organised. Those fortunate souls who have managed to attain a glimpse of the great jeevan of Sant Harnaam Singh Ji will know that Mahapursh was constantly coloured in the love of Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj’s bani. Sant Nand Singh Ji listened to Sant Harnaam Singh Ji and immediately began to make preparations for the Sri Akhand Path Sahibs. In this way after performing an ardas to Dhan Dhan Dhan Dh…

waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh I have learnt the ardaas ritual by observing sangat in the gurdwara- when to kneel, when to rise etc. Outside of the gurdwara, I do a personal and long ardaas (conversation with God) without the standard structure present in gutka sahibs. However now I am learning the ardaas, for the sake of community harmony and in case my services ever are called upon, I need to be able to perform the ritual correctly, but I don't know what is actually happening during ardaas. Please help me understand. Questions: - What is the reason for standing and folding hands? - After 'sarbat da bhala', who are we kneeling to? Since I have only been …

Source : -------------- In the second world war, the Sikhs fought in the British army and many Sikhs gave their lives fighting for Britain. Many Sikhs fought in Europe too and the Sikhs were recognized for their outstanding performance in the war. After the war was over, the Sikh regiments were brought back to India by road. As thus, they had to pass through Afghanistan and present day Pakistan, to arrive in India. When the Sikh regiment reached Jamraud, the Sikhs requested the officer in charge to stay at Jamraud as they wanted to visit the Gurudwara that stands there in the sweet memory of the greatest general, Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa. The officers agreed …

I can read and write Gurmukhi well, but I have some trouble with understanding certain paths. Do we have to do our path in the original Punjabi? Wouldn't it be better for people who can't read/understand gurbani to read it in a language they understand. So when they do Japji Sahib, they could read it in English. I mean the whole point of doing path is to understand and take on board the message gurbani gives.

Jathedar Sukhdev Singh Ji Babbar was a very special Gursikh with many admirable qualities. During Vaisakhi 1978, when the Indian Government sponsored "Nirankaris" were parading around Amritsar, hurling abuse at our Gurus, Sahibzaadai and Panj Pyarai, Bhai Fauja Singh collated together a group of Gursikhs to protest at the insults. At the same time, Bhai Sukhdev Singh Ji was getting married. When Bhai Sukhdev Singh Ji heard about the martyrdom of his close friend Bhai Fauja Singh Ji, he called a meeting of Gursikhs who decided that they had no alternative but to defend the Khalsa Panth against these increasing attacks by using arms. Jathedar Sukhdev Singh Babbar was a…
