The Most Beloved Friend: Subedar Harbachan Singh jee By Prof. Thakur Singh in Poorab Janam Kay Milay Sanjogee Translated by Admin www.tapoban.org ***note: this is an excellent addition to the life story found in Bhai Sahib Randheer Singh jee's Rangle Sajjan book*** Sree Maan Baoo Mul Singh jee's most beloved friend was Subedar Harbachan Singh jee. Bhai Harbachan Singh jee had been allotted land in Baoo jee's village of Chakk 52/2 L Okara, and his house backed on Baoo jee's house. He was the son of Baoo jee's 36th Regiment head-clerk, Sardar Maan Singh jee. Because he regularly visited Baoo jee's house from a small age, his love for Baoo jee was so solid that it lasted…

Subedar Harbachan Singh jee By Principal Gurmukh Singh jee, Soora Jan 1992 Translated by Admin www.tapoban.org Once Bhai Harbachan Singh jee had come to Col. Piara Singh jee's home. When returning, he was going to take the night train. All preparations had been made, but that evening some Singhs came to meet him. They requested him to stay some more days but Bhai Sahib didn't agree. One Singh took Col Sahib aside and asked him to request Bhai Sahib to stay one more day. Col Sahib replied "I'll tell you the method, whatever happens then is up to the Guru." The time for Sodar came and everyone did the paath together. There was still quite a bit of time before the train …

Subjugation Of Sikh Kids 1 2

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh No doubt as kids, they are our responsibilty and thy should be brought up according to SIKHI but what if after a certain age thy find the sikh way distressing. Considering the spurt of hair cutting incidents, makin up stories of racial attacks, i strongly feel there is somethg wrong with the upbringing of these kids or the pressure of lookin different in society is takin its toll on em. First it was the US, then Scotland and Moga(India). Both US and India stories were exposed and the culprits were the sikh youth themselves. But bearing in mind the Scotland hair cutting incident the first thought tht comes is the peaceful Sik…

If a good friend of mine acted in the same way as me, I wouldn’t condemn her. So, why do I condemn myself and feel guilty for the very same thing? People are more compassionate and understanding when their friends do the wrong thing than they are towards themselves, when they act in the self-same way. Why is this? When your friend commits a sin, and you do not condemn her behaviour, you have a different attitude towards her than you have towards yourself when you do the same thing. Thus, you believe that while it may have been desirable for your friend not to have acted badly, she is not a bad person for so doing. However, when you act in exactly the same way you believe…

Success and Religion

Written by a fellow GurSikh, bhai Anmol Singh from Mumbai, India I am a constant watcher of the Discovery and National Geographic Channels. I learn a lot by observation then reading. One thing very common I observed in most the cultures world wide is all are bounded by some religious discipline. It is the religious discipline which makes a culture progressive. I will cite a few examples. In the last decade in Japan near the Osaka Bay a man made island was built 20 kilometers inside the sea. Today the Kansai Airport exists on this man made island. It is connected to the Osaka city both by road and rail. In 1995 an earthquake struck and the entire Osaka city …

*cut-paste from Tapoban forums...wonderful poem* This poem is written for those who have once taken Amrit, and have now left this path. Please send it to anyone who could possibly benefit from it, as we see many people these days, who took Amrit in the past, but have fallen from this path, and done beadbi of Kes, or have began turning to alcohol/drugs. Some lines may seem harsh, but sometimes we (myself included), need a wake-up call. I do not claim to be a good Sikh myself. Alot of this applies to me as well. YOU GAVE GURU GOBIND SINGH JI YOUR HEAD, BUT THEN YOU TOOK IT BACK Guru Gobind Singh Ji tried, to keep you on the right track You gave Him your head, but then …

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Sudama and Krishna This sakhi is narrated by Bhai Gurdas Ji in his vaars as follows: Sudama was born in a Brahmin family and raised in abject poverty. He was a childhood friend of Krishna. He had the supreme knowledge as well as superb control over his senses. Despite being poor, he was content with what he had but his wife Susheela was frustrated. One day, unable to control her hunger, she told Sudama: "Krishna is your fast friend. Why don't you go to Him? When He comes to know about our harships, He will certainly come to our aid". Sushila thus requested him several times. Finally, Sudama thought: 'Though I am facing t…

Thought of Sharing with Sikhsangat. The Sufis are the men of the highest morality. They are the people who behave according to the need of the time. They are not bound by the shackles of rituals and customs. Religion for them is important only so long as it does not hinder spiritual progress. The greatest religion for them is the love for the humanity and not to hurt anyone’s feelings. Their objective being to evolve as a complete man by improving one’s character and conduct the principles and practices adopted by them revolve around these central ideas and are to be seen in this light. A Sufi seeker has to complete his journey to self-realisation. He has to find his B…

Everynight at the gurdwara when SukhAsan takes place and Guru Granth Sahib jee is respectfully carried on the head of a beloved GurMukh, the rest of the GurMukh pyarios' sing : ਜਿਥੈਜਾਇਬਹੈਮੇਰਾਸਤਿਗੁਰੂਸੋਥਾਨੁਸੁਹਾਵਾਰਾਮਰਾਜੇ॥ Jithai jāė bahai mėrā saṯgurū so thān suhāvā rām rājė. Wherever my True Guru goes and sits, that place is beautiful, O Lord King. The dhol is being beaten, the shaneh (bells and symbols) are chiming, a group of ten children are at the front, the rest of the Sangat follow behind as Guru Sahib goes to the Peace (Sukh) position (Asan) upstairs on the bed. It feels like Guru Gobind Singh jee himself is riding majestically by and the Sangat bow, applyin…
