This is story from the time of Guru Hargobind Ji. One Sikh had saved up some honey which he wanted Guru Ji to taste first. So he decides to go to Guru Ji and takes honey with him. On his way, he meets this one person who is very poor. Clothes all ripped looks like a mess. He asks, “where are you going?” Sikh says, “I am going to Guru Hargobind Ji.” “And what do you have in that bowl?” asks the man. “Some honey” replies Sikh. The poor man was very hungry and asks the Sikh to give him some but Sikh refuses and says “I want Guru Ji to eat it first. No one touches it before Guru Ji” and walks on. He reaches Guru Darbar and offers his honey. When he opens the bowl, it is ful…

He served this holy man well, after serving the holy man he would go for long walks in the beautiful countryside and he would get so much pleasure from doing so. One day after serving his master, he decided to go for a walk using a different route. While on this new route he came across a town. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh One day a Sidh Yogi went to see Guru Amar Das and said, "O Guru, ever since you have been enthroned, I have longed to see you. Today I am blessed to have my longing fulfilled. I have fasted, I have undergone great hardships, yet still I have not found peace. Iwish to have peace of mind and to know that when I leave my body I will be reborn into your family." The Guru said, "Happiness and peace are not found by fasting and enduring hardships, but by loving God and singing His praises. You shall be reborn into my family; you shall be Mohri's son and my grandson." The Yogi then went to the side of the river Beas and left his body. …

It’s About Time It’s about time you noticed Me. It’s about time you talked to Me. It’s about time you smiled at Me. It’s about time you leveled with Me. It’s about time you called Me. It’s about time you realized, That it’s about time For Me. This is one of many poems I wrote since I have realized how beautiful it is to have Waheguru Ji's kirpa in my life. The story behind this poem is a common phrase we all hear our friends, family, and even ourselves say "what about me?" I got thinking (I know a few would say, "oh no...she's thinking!!! ") . Does Waheguru Ji wonder, when will this manmukh realize that "It's About Time For ME!". Bhul Chuk Maa…

vwihgurU jI kw Kwlsw! vwihgurU jI kI &iqh!! SPOONS A kathavaachak jee told us this at Gurudwara Sahib. A sufi saint came to a king. As is the habit of kings; they love to impress religious persons with valuable gifts; and the fakes do get impressed. This king too placed some jewels in the khapar; the begging bowl of the sufi saint and the bowl was still empty. The king was surprised and out of his treasure he ordered for more of valuables and placed in the bowl. As usual the bowl was still empty. The king ended up placing all of his treasure in the bowl. Then he enquired about the material of which the bowl was ma…

Balbir Kaur, Bibi Brave Sikh Women of the Akali Movement (1892-1917) The Akali movement had rejuvenated a new life among GurSikhs. Since the Sikh Raj period, this was the first time GurSikhs had asserted their religious independence and initiated non-violent efforts to seek control of their Gurdwaras. The bloody incident of Nankana Sahib and Guru-Kae-Bagh added fuel to the fire and served to strengthen the movement. As a result, the Sikhs raised slogans of India's freedom along with slogans for the independence of their Gurdwaras. Unfortunately, the level of commitment and self-sacrifice of Sikhs deeply disturbed the British. They sensed a potential threat to their cont…

Why I Embraced Sikhism - Georgia Rangel ( now jivanjot kaur) Ms. Georgia Rangel (now Jivanjot Kaur) was born in a Christian family. Afterwards she embraced Judaism. Many years later she came into contact with some Sikhs and this gave her an opportunity to get acquainted with Sikhism. After she had studied and explored Sikhism she was convinced that her quest for a fully satisfying religion had come to a close. But she did not adopt Sikhism on the spur of the moment. Rather it was after spending 7-8 years that she decided to be baptized in 1994. Q: Ms. Jivanjot Kaur how were you acquainted with Sikhism? A: I was born in a Christian family. I left home at the age of sev…

Lately times seem hard. We are experiencing a bad world economy, high unemployment, etc. It seems as during these hard times people are falling apart, unfortunately because they do not have the coping skills some have even gone to the extent of taking their own life. Its often the case in which hard times lead people to regress spiritually. Blessed is the Gurmukh who Guru Sahib has made his own. Dhan Dhan Satguru Sahib Ji has built his Sikhs to such an extent that they view hard times as good times since suffering allows us to seek internally for Guru Ji. duKu dwrU suKu rogu BieAw jw suKu qwim n hoeI ] dhukh dhaaroo sukh rog bhaeiaa jaa sukh thaam n hoee || …
