Sorry folks, this is not another post to ridicule someone/ group of people ;p Instead, we need to look at ourselves and ask, what IS happening? What the 10 Guru Sahibs did for us... is priceless! Literally priceless. From Guru Nanak Dev Ji to Eternal Guru Granth Sahib Ji! By listening to constant katha and prachaars I am sure we know little, some or in great detail about the Guru Ji's prachaar and all the Sikhs during their times. We need to ask ourselves a few questions, do we go Gurudwara everyday? Do we aim to learn one new thing in Katha and prayers? Do we aim to spend five minutes in seva? OR... Do we look at others and decide, the mona who passed away is going …

Prasad that fell on the floor?
by Guest- 4 replies

I went to the Gurdwara today and a singh asked me to serve prasad. I went to wash my hands and he wanted it in a bag. The bag wasn't strong enough so the prasad sort of made a hole. It fell on the floor and I picked it up. I gave the singh another bag to put it in. Then, a singhni came and asked for prasad. She asked for the one that fell on the floor and was on my hand. I told her it fell on the floor and she said it is ok. (It didn't fall on the floor for very long so I guess the 3 second rule counts?) It felt wrong for some reason. Can someone assure me what I did was correct/wrong?

A video has emerged of a beating of a woman by a Sikh and his Hindu friend allegedly for dowry and giving birth to a girl. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4701172/Indian-woman-brutally-beaten-hockey-sticks-family.html Video: http://video.dailymail.co.uk/video/mol/2017/07/16/7931081988975183920/1024x576_MP4_7931081988975183920.mp4 http://www.hindustantimes.com/punjab/viral-video-woman-assaulted-by-in-laws-over-dowry-demand-in-patiala/story-eMCGE7VI3uF3Q53lNl4fPN.html I was a bit confused to see that the beater was what looked like a Sikh man, which is strange since the woman's name is Meena Kashyap. Kashyaps were one of the original ei…

Few questions on Hazoor sahib
by Guest- 4 replies
- 8.1k views
I consider myself fortunate to live in same state as hazur sahib . Hazur sahib is 12 hour drive from my home and 9 hour by train journey. Hope to visit it soon . But before that I have a few questions on the different maryada in hazur sahib, and in the way the sikhs there worship. 1) Why does the main sewadar singh (currently Bhai Kulwant Singh ji) wrap a sheet of cloth around their body over their chola ? What is the meaning of it ? Its very much like nirmala sikh, except the sewadar singh wears a decorative one 2) Why do they hold what looks to me like an arrow with mini-kirpan head while doing ardas and later take wash it in water f…

On social media and in life in general, I observe that many people are unhappy in their lives. They have bad vices and want to lose weight, quit smoking, drinking etc. So you see a lot of people making resolutions etc to eat better, join a gym etc. Then you have these NLP types that attend these Tony Robbins seminars. I know of a former work colleague of mine who attends these and got together to give food the homeless. Which got me to realise, don't we as Sikhs do this kind of things with our seva? It seems that even though society is becoming less religious or less spiritual, these kind of things would be found in religion (Sikhi in particular )…

Reasons why we should not celebrate Ram Raheem being arrested. First of all, YOU'RE A SIKH! We do not know n like to celebrate. And if celebration is happening, authi wi do - chaar nukhta gadd dinya lol. 2nd we all know Ram Raheem's sentence will be 6 months long. Even if it's an order by CPI (highest commission) it means jack all. Raheem will pay his way out easily. Raheem's "prison" will mean 5* hotel luxury type prison, kinda like Pablo Escobar's. TV, 24 hours access in cell and courtyard, no hard labour (breaking bricks), it'll just be visitation from his cheli (he'll b dead busy with them), phone access, lovely food and possibly breakfast in bed by the poli…
