what are the differences in doing simran on your own at home, and in sangat at gurdwara in front of Maharaj ji? does it matter if one cannot keep up with others, as i found it hard at fast speed, is it ok to rest go between then start again.

Sangat ji, I would really appreciate some career/study advice. In short I graduated with a 2.2 in law, I had decided what career route to take after graduating (not in law) but I'm not sure if thats for me anymore. I was interested in looking into IT as this is a field I've not really explored but seems interesting. I am a 25 year old British born Sikh and have kept my kesh my entire life, I have a fairly long flowing beard and disproportionately long mustache. The hairs are around 4 inches long!! My dad does path every morning, but there are some things I don't agree with him , like he always want me to make money , whenever I m listening to path he ll get mad because I didn't hear him, If I want to go to gurudwara he will get mad because he wants me to go to work instead. He uses bad language. I still listen to him, try to do as he says but sometimes it's very hard. He is superstitious an sometines wants me to believe in that aswell and in Guru Granth Sahib it says us to no believe in any superstitions. Sometimes I m very confuse what to do. Well hi.. Im 12 years old almost 13 and I really wanna take amrit. I get up at 5:20 everyday and do japji sahib, chaupai sahib, simran/jaap and some times 5 pauris of anand sahib. My dad is all for me taking amrit but the problem is my mother. we are having an akhand paath at our home but we need help in the correct way of doing the prakash. For the manji sahib we have put a fresh clean white sheet on a clean hoovered floor. then we have put a small really flat mattress on top. Then we put another clean sheet on top of that. We then put a small new table for maharjan on the top. Then we put another white sheet over it and put a smaller really flat mattress that will fit the table on top, followed by another white sheet. We then put the clean brand new large rumalla on top. Then should we put maharaj sahib on the top then put the side rumallas under neath guru ji and then put the smaller rumalla over? please hel…

back then was waaaay different. ppl didn’t attend higher education or have much to do after the age of like… 13, lol. you’d have 13 year olds boys and girls that know how to do kethi, cook entire meals, etc nowadays even 22 year olds are extremely immature and can be sheltered. the average person doesn’t know how to do anything except their 9-5 which they are probably half arsing as well. -

Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
