Hi, I'm not amrit-dhari or anything, but wanted to know what the religious stance is on meat. My Dad is a proper Singh and he doesn't eat meat or eggs. I was a vegetarian for 12 years, but started eating meat again around 6 months ago. My dad actually says that although he doesn't eat meat himself, it's not against Sikhism to eat meat. Also, a friend of mine ate a big-mac and said it's not against sikhism to eat meat, and the no-beef thing is hindu religion, nothing to do with sikhs, so sikhs can eat beef too... Is this true?

Ya this may have been posted b4..... I sometimes do question my religion mainly because of other people's actions...keeping my beard long...and clashes between todays society and old indian mentality..what is ur take one this? what problems do the other sikhs face in society? uhgg...i'm just wondering b/c b4 i didn't question the religion or anything else for that matter.....for me it was really hard after 9/11 I think the hardest part for me is to be able to maintain some sort of direction....religion: SIkhism: Jatts v Tarkhans bull <admin-profanity filter activated>: Hindus v Sikhs:Muslims v Sikhs....so in the end when i go to the gurudwara i go to the place in…

That is completely out of order deleting the original message of the poster when below her original message we've given our views in good faith, now it seems like what we've said in reply to her time at university is out of context. http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?showtopic=19695 Why was it removed? what kinda policy is this that upon request the original thread message is removed there was a lesson to be learned from her experiences at uni and now its been lost cos of change of heart.

Simran

When doing simran, is it okay to focus on an image in your mind (e.g. Sri Guru Grath Sahib Jee)? I have been trying to do simran without focusing on an image. Someone suggested to me that I try to keep my focus by repeating Vaheguru out loud and listening to what I am saying instead of focusing on an image. I have tried this but I am still having a hard time concentrating. I feel that I need an image in my head in order to focus on God. I just wanted to know what the sangats views are and if they have any suggestions that would be great. THank you! Vaheguruuuuuuu...

Need Help Guiding One Of Our Brothers
by Guest Guest- 6 replies

Ok, wonder if you can help me. I've got a friend who I've known for about 4 years now & we're really close. We're not going out with each other, but I treat him like my little brother. We both went to university together & lived away from home, but we hit it off from day one. I'm quite a religious Sikh but he isnt, he wears a turban but cuts his beard into all sorts of crazy designs!! I would look after him as much as I could, & try to teach him Sikhi as it seems as tho he was not interested at all. I can tell he had a difficult childhood, as his father left the family before he was born & he only has his mum, who he does love so much. But he would never…

Please read the following bbc article (Quoted version is not full) and try to understand the quoted paragraphs in the article. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/4791847.stm Then there is this article http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/arti...d=1770&ct=5 Call me racist but i feel that the above response by muslim leaders is just trying to take advantage of the situation to further their cause. If all of the above demands are met by the government then There will be Modernisation of mosques in uk at the expense of All Tax Payers Imams would also be paid colleges and universities for thier role in education Government will provide funding for scholars …
