Sikh Monasticism
by Guest Seeker- 3 replies

Waheguru I have a few questions: - I'm new to Sikhism and I'm trying to find out if there are any Sikh sects of (traveling) monks, renunciate or ascetic etc? - I have read about Udasi and Nirmala are these seen as Sikhs and are these mainly accepted by Sikhs? (Are there more sects like these in Sikh history?) I also found this Ashram: http://www.nirmalashram.com/ is this trustworthy, what about the current Mahant and the lineage? http://www.nirmalash...ral_lineage.php I ask these questions because I always had a strong attraction to monk/renunciate life. I hope someone can help I would very grateful, Thanks.

sikh morality code
by Guest guest- 0 replies

Hi. So I had this idea of putting together a 'morality code', initially for youth, but also for older sikhs we want to connect more with the religion and also for non-sikhs interested to learn. I want all the rules to be based on teachings of SGGS. Sort a basic moral guidance based in Gurbani. I invite you all to suggest alterations and additions. It would be good to have Gurbani quotes to go with the list, but I'm have not memorised SGGS well enough, so if anyone can help with that too, that would be good. Moral 'guides' for sikhs: 1. Always remember God/Gods name. This is a must. You can do this while living your day to day life. As per Gurbani,…

Is there any website or magazine to guide sikh new mothers..I have found there are many in christians but couldn't find in sikhism however I feel every new mother needs some guidance and continous reminder to keep herself and her child on the path of Sikhism..being a mother of 1 year I finf it really hard to do notnem and go to Gurudwara Sahib..I don't find anyone to answer so many querries then one day I landed to a christian website"above rubies".I believe there should be such websites for Sikh mothers too to give constant encouragement to walk on the path of God inspite of all pressures.

Sikh Music, Please Explain
by Guest Help- 4 replies

Hello, I just had some questions about Sikh music which I hope you don't mind answering. http://www.info-sikh.com/PageH12.html "The Gurus have also indicated the beats associated with the poetry of every Shabad. In Guru Granth Sahib seventeen ghars (taal - beat) are mentioned." Where and how are these beats indicated? Where can I find them? Also I've recently heard the following: where can I find the wording of what's being said? I can understand the normal punjabi talk but not the main bits. Thanks

Sikh parent divorce
by Guest Singh- 3 replies

Hey guys. Today things escalated really quickly. My mom & dad really can't get along. There's always a problem between them, sometimes money, sometimes trust. My mom called the police & they came home and sorted everything out. Either my mom or dad will file a divorce which is fine with me as i want everyone to be happy, & divorce is the best solution now. I have no harsh feeling towards Baba ji, instead i pray & go to Guruduwara as normal. This happened yesterday. If you guys can guide or advice me through this, i will be grateful. Thanks & WJKK WJKF

Sikh Professor teaches Math
by Guest jigsaw_puzzled_singh- 6 replies

The UK Sikh Organisations expressed outrage today after it was found that there exists a Sikh professor at a college in the East Midlands that teaches maths despite the fact that he himself is not an equation, fraction nor an algorithm. One Sikh moderator, a CHforce from the West Midlands was outraged saying it "was absolutely disgusting" adding that "how can someone that has never been a prime number or a coefficient in a differential geometry correlation possible be in a position to teach it ?". Chforce added that the Sikh professor could much better use his time by displaying much needed hateful hate towards muslims, especially the one's that have the audactity to brea…
