  1. 'Sticking to the Path with a Stedfast Mind' From: There is an old folktale which goes as follows: One day a man set his mind wholeheartedly on reaching the Divine Being and set forth on his journey. While travelling he became thirsty and got sidetracked looking for a river. He found a river somewhat off his course but it was necessary for him to drink. While drinking from the river he saw a gold bangle sparkling in the water, while trying to reach for it he fell into the water. A passer by told him that the bangle he saw in the water was just a reflection and the bangle was actually stuck up a tree, so he set about trying to climb the tree… so on so forth. Such tales hold within them important teaching, this one alerts us to how much of an alert and steadfast mind we need in order to stick to our path. Within hours this individual that set about whole heartedly and genuinely to meet the Divine Being was falling into rivers and climbing trees in pursuit of a gold bangle. Despite his wholehearted intentions, he did not have a steadfast mind. The great Brahmgiani Baba Mitt Singh Ji when walking to Hazoor Sahib from Punjab at the beginning of the 1900s ordered all accompanying Nihang Singhs to maintain maximum bibek. This did not just refer to the way the prepared their food, but how the acquired their nourishment and how the perceived it in relation to Akaal Purakh. The Singhs would only eat what little food they came across on their journey either from trees or from vegetables offered from devotees and they would cook the food themselves. Even if a tree was abundant with fruit Baba Mitt Singh would not let the Singhs carry in fruit from it on the journey, requiring them to eat what they could and entrust in Akaal Purakh to provide for them further. Despite going hungry sometimes for days at a time, Baba Mitt Singh Ji kept this maryada - Never straying from the path he had taken and the way in which he had vowed to take it. This is one example from the life of Baba Mitt Singh Ji who's jeevani can be read here: There are countless other examples of how great Gursikhs whole heartedly with a steadfast mind and clear objectives stick to their path in whatever experience life brings before them. Every Gursikh needs clear direction and a steadfast mind otherwise we often find ourselves straying from our path. Sometime we become completely off track, other times we get side tracked with certain things we encounter along our path. The word 'Panth' literally means path and when we join the Khalsa we devote ourselves to a specific path. Remember when taking amrit we vow to follow a path of seva, simran, nitnem amritvela and devote ourselves to the practise of Dharam, may Maharaj bless us to never stray from this path and the strength to return when we are side tracked. 2. How can a Sikh join a movement that is based upon the hatred of every Muslim around? I hate Muslim extremists with a passion and have fought with them in the past, but the blind hatred of an entire group is something no Sikh should ever join and literally throws mud on our great values. What of the great Sufi Muslims who were the companions of our masters? They also believed in the same Allah. Anyhow let's just suppose for one minute that this group is "safe" for us to join. Once they have got rid of the Muslims or scared then into submission, what guarantee is there they they won't turn on us? Having read the views of many of them, they are just going along with this whole "bring the other Asians on board" stuff to accomplish an objective. I can recall the leader of the BNP Nick Griffen doing this as well, something which I might add failed miserably. People should recall what he famous German pastor, Martin Niemmoller said about the rise of the Nazis: They came first for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for me and by that time no one was left to speak up. We are More than capable of handling any threat posed by people who wish our community harm, which has been demonstrated in the past. We don't need drug, drink fuelled racists in order to do so. 3. Who are Sikh 'leaders'? If you mean the old foggies that run Gurdwaras (usually corruptly too), then I'm not surprised that they stay quiet and get on with fleecing funds. Fact is, we haven't got any real leaders in the UK. By this I mean ones that have the support of the majority of the diverse panth, not self appointed ones or ones of various jathas. Plus for an apna to threaten to join rightwing chav goray because people aren't vocally bad mouthing sullay is plain dumb. I live in and have lived in a lot of sullay majority areas. Do you know how much impact EDL bewakoofi has here? I'll tell you - zip, zilch, nowt, nothing! If anything, those idiots (like shortsighted gora policy in general of late) have done nothing but unite Muslims more than ever. Even ones that were at each others throats before. Plus I was around when apnay were at the forefront of challenging Al Mujjaroin types years ago, so don't go on like apnay didn't deal with this issue a long time before low class goray jumped on the wagon and turned it into some chest beating, lager lout days out. Don't be under the illusion that we HAVE TO choose a side between the rightwing tramp gora position and Islamic extremists. We don't. The people that do join the goray are the ones who are so terrified of sullay that they have lost their minds to an extent. That isn't Singh (lion) style at all. In fact it's a bit giddarh when you think about it.....

  4. Just because a Sikh group and a Hindu one are both anti EDL it doesn't make them pals dude. I don't like extremist Islam either but that doesn't make me a supporter of some trash Islamophobic white group who doesn't like them either. How old are you? In any case, tell me who the real K'stanis are these days as opposed to the fake ones please?

  5. Some of us are old enough and worldlywise enough to see yobbo goray low life scum when we see them. I know plenty of Sikhs who faced up to extremist sullah, none of them crawled up a gorays butt in order to do this. Any apna that does is a disgrace and a sell out. Funny how when you see these EDL types Facebook accounts they always have tons of friends who are openly BNP, NF, Combat 18 supporters. Leaders of the EDL have BNP links. Get your head out of the sand and see reality before you embarrass yourself and the quom with your sycophancy and lack of astuteness in these matters.

  7. I know I'd much rather donate to Khalsa Aid who have projects supporting Dharmi Fauji's over donating to Sikhnet whom take a salary for their "sewa"

  8. If one can't trust anyone then gather the daasvandh (even if it take years) and whenever you get time to visit india, go there and spend daasvaandh the way you want to. You can arrange a short term work such as "arrange a sahbeel during summer months" or you can distribute comforters/kambal/rajai to homeless during winters. You can help someone who needs medical help (give money to hospital instead of giving it to patient). If you are rich and wants to donate in larger amount, you can start/sponsor a anti-drug treatment by offering temp jobs or spiritual workshops. Personally, i did some of the stuff on my own time and space and i can't tell anyone about the experience of doing both physical and financial sewa. I encourage all to try it at least once in your lifetime. There are many ways to do stuff; Sikhnet and others are doing sewa for online services. People donate and will continue to donate because they know how hard it is to run something offering free services such as websites and other web-related services. It depends on your priority and your lifestyle. If one is tech savey, he/she will understand Sikhnet. If one thinks about 1984, he/she will stay with someone who take care of 84 families. If one is aware of world hunger and suffering of human conditions then he/she will support someone who does free langar @ odd places and pitch in for their medical needs. So it really depend on what and how your prioritize the needs of our brothers and sisters in punjab or online. Encourage all to do keep up the good work and NEVER EVER bring any sort of competition NOR try to compare their motives/missions. Also, do not discourage others NOT TO give money to this or that organization regardless of what they do unless if they don't follow akal takht sahib. If one is clean from controversy, follows akal takht sahib then they are good enough to be supported by all.

  9. I just had to delete a whole page's worth of posts from this thread, the insults were disgusting. Please report any such posts rather than replying to them so that they can be deleted promptly. Sikhsangat does not tolerate any members attacking each other.

  11. Siding with any organisation - even supposedly "well-meaning" Sikh groups as exposed by Southhall Youth (:D) - just isn't for me. I prefer to keep my own council and the only Sikh "organisation" I'll ever belong to is the one Waheguru has directed me towards - the Sikhi faith. All the others are just.....well you simply don't know who believes what, or what your fellow members are up to. No offence to anyone who is a member of any such groups.

  14. Real Khalistanis are those that stick to their principals of not associating with Anti Sikh figures and people linked to Anti Sikh Anti Panth groups ,UNLIKE British Sikh Council they go on about Babbar Khalsa this that yet their rep's name appears alongside the likes of Virendra Sharma the ex overseas Congress President who smeared Shaheed Satwant Singh and Shaheed Beant Singh Ji in the Southall elections alongside making out Khalistanis are terrorists by postings leaflets at houses. All the Mandir presidents mentioned are pets of the RSS and honoured Gowalkar at a function in Wembley alongside SGSS Southall Ex president Sohi, this can be seen on Youtube. British Sikh Council should THINK before they sign a statement ,OH AND I FORGOT Virendra Sharma and all the other non Sikhs mentioned are THE SIKH COMMUNITY LEADERS !!
