  4. You know what we as Sikh girls are so lucky that our father Guru Gobind Singh ji :l: is so benevolent and loves exactly the way he loves his Singhs! We'd probably think of this briefly and thinks its normal, well I use to until I researched a bit and found out this: originally as we know in the patriarchal society women were oppressed and one way of doing this was to pin them down to a man. So before a girl is married she has the surname of the father (as she is dependent on the father) and later after marriage she takes on the name of the husband. This reinforced the idea of women being the property of men. This was also carried out by many religions, for example : (satguru kirpa kare, im not doing nindeya just saying  ) The hindu law/hierarchy maker MANU- claimed that women should never be independent, hence things like sati were important :onfire: . The women should die if the husband dies! The Christian creation story- Eve was made out if Adams spare rib which makes her subjective to males. where as our father Guru Gobind singh ji created the khalsa- where women are given the name Kaur and equal rights. The surname kaur remains the same before and after marriage, this means that women are not dependent on men and DO HAVE the ability to be independent. Also just some extra info, the word KURI originally came from the word KOOH-RAH meaning rubbish. This was because people disrespected women and thought they were rubbish and inferior to men and doormats. However Guru Gobind Singh ji followed Guru Nanak Dev jis teachings of "why call her bad, who gives birth to kings" and said that Girls are not rubbish, they are princesses - KAUR! :khalsa: So please Sikh bibiyo pehno apni keemat jaano and kaim rakho apni taur by using the surname Kaur :waheguru:

  8. Are the last two posts for real? Sorry I know that isn't addressing the content, but: 1. Something needs to be said, and 2. Still too dumbfounded to respond meaningfully. If the above is any indication, apparently the serious problem clearly lies with men. And stop suggesting there is a general disinterest in dastars. Maybe there is if you live in a bollywood screen and with certain girls. Respectful non sikh women constantly pursue fully bearded turbanned sikhs all over the world, usually respectfully declined. Yet some of us let bollywood tell us who we are. Societal issues, yes perhaps, do discuss respectfully. Keep in mind the topic can be challenging for any young person regardless of background. But on an individual level an iota true Sikh personality and the end result is an abundance of interest from higher quality more confident women. The dastar makes a Sikh aim higher and keeps us from settling for mediocre in every aspect of life. The only challenge a Sikh man should have is being respectful in his response to abundant interest. Don't chase. Live the simple life of a graceful, true to yourself, open minded, poet warrior and the problem will be the opposite.

  10. Veer, you are talking hypothetically. If they were in large numbers, they would have done this or that. Sikhs fight a defensive war not an offensive war. Sikhs don't start wars...If Muslims kill Sikhs, only then Sikhs can retaliate. It is against the teachings of Guru Sahib to slaughter innocents. And you don't even know who burnt the Nishan Sahib. And even if some Muslim did burn it, I don't think they deserve a genocide for this. What world are you living in?

  11. this is why its important to be amritdhari and a tyar bar tyar Sikh so you can stand up for yourself, your faith and others. Many people now-a-days think that the kirpan is just symbolic and the government won't allow you to use it as it'll be against the law. However what about when the government turns on YOU ? I'm not saying that turn into a violent maniac but what I am saying is learn the skills of self defence that Guru Gobind Singh ji emphasises so much, so if ever you do find yourself in the situation where you need to be at defence, you are ready ! Bhull chuk maaf ji :smile2:

  13. This all keeps on happening in India. Where people with different beliefs live, all this kind of act is obvious. i can easily recall 4 to 5 incident happened against Sikh last year under Manmohan singh's leadership. Congress did so gud in 1984 with sikhs. From last 10 years we had a silent minister. Thank God he's out and now we will have a minister who speaks. Number of votes proves his power and liking of people for him. I dont want to offend anyone. but under BJP sikh are not in any kind of danger.

  15. The wise average indian muslim and indian sikh knows the games the Indian hindu extremist has played over the decades and will continue to play it to get minorities at each others throats. So they avoid escalating any disagreements or incidents that happen much to the annoyance to the hindu extremist that wants to ignite a fire and stand back enjoying the fruits of his evil work. So what happened in Hyderabad will be forgotten about in few days time. The muslim extremist would not bother targeting the Sikhs because the results will only be negative for them, whereas if they target the hindu majority population it creates a huge divide between the majority hindu population and 2nd largest population group the muslims of india. This aids their agenda of radicalising the muslim to think they are at war pagan kafir hindus community determined to wipe them out. If they start on Sikhs they know Sikhs dont go around looking to start trouble but will give them a violent reply that will hurt them very badly and if they retaliate they will be wasting their resources on an another minority oppressed group within India for nothing. Nor do Sikhs want to see any faith group or religion wiped out as its against Sikhism to do this so muslim scholars, political or militant leaders are not dumb they know not to fight Sikhs if they have a brain. ...but for the Hindu its vital for the survival of his civilisation, religion and nation that Islam is pushed back as far as possible back to arabia... because quran and hadiths directly call for attack/conquest on hind and the wiping out of the idol worshipping pagans (which are the hindus). This is a very real reality, muslims fought, invaded and ruled over hindu populated land for 800years. They gave the mountains in afghanistan the name hindu kush meaning where the hindus were killed Also if we look at hindu scriptures like vedas and other scriptures they have no problem with causing genocides and mass killings of the enemy. Arjun did that with the aid of lord krishna in mahabharata...and in ramanyan lord ram ordered hanuman to ignite and destroy the civilisation of lanka. So if need be, for the hindu civilisation the hindu bramin priests will order the rest of the hindus to indulge in genocide against the enemy using techniques pioneered by chanakya. So in conclusion we can see that its in the interests of the hindu extremists to cause isolation of the muslims. We see now the rise of Hindu nationalists that have now gained strength, they were in recent years involved in deceptive false flag minor attacks on muslims blamed on muslims themselves but later found out to have been carried out by right wing hindu extremists during indian congress party rule but were not properly tackled because rahul gandhi and congress party feared the wrath of the hindu establishment if they banned certain organisations. But now the game will step up for the hindutva forces as they are in power now.... so you will see alot of violence blamed on minority groups but were actually carried out by hindu jihadi's to give the pretext and excuse for the social and political backlash that follows.

  16. The Khalistan movement failed. Why did it fail due to a number of factors, amongst the being discord between militants. Do you really think the ISI will risk supporting any such operation again? Secondly regarding 'another India' that was from a potential Pakistani Perspective, not an indication for you to emotionalise the risks of Hindu nationalism in India. And other than the sporadic conspiracy theory in Indian Media Outlet, what independent proof is there that Pakistan profoundly supports the Khalistan movement? Modi and co. have perpetually made their agenda evident. 'Hindustan for Hindus.' With such a radical polity in power, Muslims are bound to blame minorities such as Sikhs who (lets face it) have fought for India despite their treatment. Secondly from a religious viewpoint it does not require much to fuel anti-infidel sympathies in India's Muslim populace, there might as well be a religious reason beyond targeting Sikhs in Hyderabad. Thirdly with Hindus in power, not many Muslims will target them. The last round after Ayodhya inflicted them with heavy casualties and status damage. Their reputation, globally, is not at it's best presently. India on the other hand is an emerging superpower, and many nations will probably ignore Hindu nationalism as long as it remains confined to India alone. Either way there will be no strong Muslim reaction to Modi, on a national platform, but minorities of course will be targeted.

  18. For what reason should she feel ashamed? She married a non-Sikh, but did she ever know anything about Sikhi? No? So why are we angry at her? Not everyone has the luxury of being taught about Sikhi growing up. You guys need to consider this. They do not consider themselves Sikhs to begin with, they are just normal people, and so marrying any other person is perfectly acceptable. Why are we blaming her for that? Imagine girls reading these posts. Men being quite nasty about a sister they know very little about. What would they think about Singhs? And about Sikhi? The problem is the lack of education or whatever else, and it will NOT get anywhere near to being fixed through judgement and slander. Endlessly blaming girls rather than understanding and isolating the problems is more ignorant.

  20. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Dear Sangat Ji, I came across this person the other day at a local Gurdwara and he showcased his visit to Nepal. They found three handwritten saroops of Maharaj and one of the saroops has 1542 angs if I can remember correctly. Gurbani upto 1430 Angs and rest mentions the lives of Guru Sahib, dates, etc. I request everyone to checkout their website that has a lot more about their visit. Here's the link: www.sgndssi.com It really touched me and made me feel like I should visit the place soon. VJKK VJKF!

  23. Sadly, I have learnt that the Punjabis are the best at making and establishing themselves and they are also the best at their very own destruction as well ! :wow: This goes for sikhi too. Punjabis also have the nasty habit of repeatedly mixing Punjab culture be it completely manmatt, into sikhi itself.

  24. The more threads I read on this site, the more it's sadly prevelant how pathetic things are getting, starting with the original post and reading the comments about it, unless the average age of all the posters here is 12 years old, Sikhi in the UK isn't looking too bright.
