  1. once there was a poor sikh farmer his son asked son: father wha good gurbani will do , if i do not understand its meaning ? Father , : son i want you to bring me water in that basket son" but the water will seep out , Father : you dont know until you try so, the son ran and tried to get water and it all leaked out Son: father its impossible Father: no its no bring me water in that basket Son in fit to proove his father wrong he tried again and again . but failed miserabely tired and defeated he went to his father Son: father i cant do it its impossible to hold water in this basket , no matter how fast i run . water leaks out Father : look at the basket , its clean just like gurbani even if we do not understand its meaning or it seeps our of our mind , but with continuous recitation it cleanses and cleans our mind and our sins So to answer your question No, English translation is not gurbani and should not be treated as such too every single word of gurubani is like an ocean of knowledge , so buy translating you are limiting yourself. translation is just a translation its not gurbani here is what you can do find videos of gurbani you want to read, They have Gurbani , transliteration and translation all together in one video. if you cannot read gurubani , try reading with transliteration . along the video to get the hang of proper pronunciation hope it helps yes it ok to understand the meaning but its not as same as reding gurubani

  2. All jathebandis are political. They want to make money and fool bholi bhali janta in the name of khalistan. kuj ni karna aina ne je karna hunda te hun tak bahout kuj kar lainde Remember Santji's word " Khalsa banjo, khalistan ape bhanju" True SIKh jathbandis should focus on spreading Sikhi not playing political games

  3. Since 2009 I have studied Sikhi off and on. I met some that year from Fresno while we were all camping in Sequoia. They told me about their religion and I visited their Gurdwara once down from the mountain. At the time it was so new I never thought to ask, how do the majority of Ethnically Punjabi Sikhs feel about non Punjabi converts? Guru Nanak traveled all the way to Mecca. It seems like a universal religion.

  4. This book will be available by 11 sep 2014 Stolen Years: A Memoir of Simranjit Singh Mann's Imprisonment Hardcover – 11 Sep 2014 by Pavit Kaur In 1984, Simranjit Singh Mann resigned from the Indian Police Service in protest of Operation Blue Star, the Indian Army operation ordered by Indira Gandhi, then prime minister, that cleared the Golden Temple complex of Sikh militants. Mann was subsequently charged, among other things, with conspiracy to assassinate Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. A passionate Sikh whose radical beliefs were honed by his family, Mann went underground and was apprehended while trying to flee the country. He spent five years in prison, after which all charges were dropped. Three decades after Blue Star, his daughter Pavit Kaur looks back on the years her father spent in prison. In this disarmingly honest and emotionally charged account, Pavit Kaur documents her father’s hellish journey through the Indian prison system. This is also a personal story and the story of a family during one of the most fraught times in India's history. Quote ‘A fascinating account of how Operation Blue Star turned life for a prosperous Sikh family into hell. The author, daughter of the controversial Sikh politician Simranjit Singh Mann, who spent five years in jail on a trumped-up charge of sedition, says, “Bhindranwale shared an ideology with my father: a separate homeland for the Sikhs”’—Satish Jacob, veteran journalist

  5. Quit using these words (they, all religions, themselves) quite frankly it is really irritating and shows that you are afraid to talk like a man in a straightforward manner. Most people reading your posts are just laughing in their head because they've seen a bunch of people use the same repetitive vague language as your own to try to mask your agenda and where you're coming from. Comparing tribal fighting over money in committees and maybe one or two murders to jihad and Islam fueled genocide, rape, pillaging of MILLIONS (countless) people in history? Canttellifsrs

  6. The difference is according to Sikh principles and the definition of a Sikh, narakdharis are not Sikhs. On top of this, they do not believe in Guru Granth Sahib Ji to be their Guru, they openly desecrate it. That comparison shows the center of the problem in your post(s) - lack of knowledge in the subject you're talking about. If someone in the Islamic world did that there would be chaos even among 'moderates'. Within the Sikh panth there is much difference in jathas and practicing of rehit, but the center foundation and beliefs are same at the core. There is tolerance for difference and approaches, but if someone doesn't consider Guru Granth Sahib Ji their Guru, they are welcome to practice their own religion without the label of being a Sikh. In Sikh history Sikh Panth has never been responsible or instigators of any sort of mob mentality genocide, I am not sure you can say the same.

  8. Ibrahim gardi, was depicted very different in sanjay khan's great marathas serial, perhaps for political correctness. Actually he made some big blunders and embarrassment. First he charged at the left flank, ahead of the rest of maratha army. His artillary shots were flying above rohillas heads for atleast one hour. He fought bravely but in his boldness, many gardi battalions got wiped out very early on. We saw that Abdali struggled against guerralla warfare of sikhs and was quite helpless in dealing with insurgency. But in conventional warfare, he was much more capable and experienced commander than maratha's. He was once commander of elite corps of nadir shah afshar, the napolean of asia and his reserve force, who turned the tides of battle in panipat, were same qizalbash of afsharids.According to our sources, marathas didnt cross indus and reach peshawer, they reached upto trans-chenab area and extracted tribute and that was one time affair.

  11. Militant attitude? Since when is standing up for your faith a "militant attitude"? Perhaps this is why Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale was also branded as a terrorist by the Indian regime, like he cared. I repeat, we wish them all the best and hope all the joys of life come their way. Let me tell you something, with a lot of love and compassion, and STRAIGHT from Gurbani. In Sikhi its all about discipline. The fact that our people have turned slack in their Rehit and have become easy-going, the fact that they want Sikhi to be ਖੁੱਲੀ-ਡੁੱਲੀ according to their own tastes is the reason why we have people (both Sikhs and non-Sikhs) always questioning and doubting every other thing these days. If the entire creation is following a discipline created by Vaheguru Himself, what is wrong in living a disciplined life and to get married based on a discipline? Those who choose to inter-marry, for the third time, I repeat, we wish them all the best and hope all the joys of life come their way. At the same time, if they choose to disobey the discipline of only Sikhs being married in the paavan-pavittar hajuri of Dhann Dhann Sahib Sri Guru Sahib Ji Maharaj, no one is under any obligation to allow them to do what they want. Its not upto us to decide if God approves of such a marriage. But the commandments we (atleast we Sikhs) have from the Guru Sahibaan in Gurbani are the most pristine and ultimate commandments from the Divine which we adhere to. Anyone who chooses not to, is free to do so. But they better not expect to walk over those who are committed to this discipline. We are in no way pushing people away from Sikhi. To be honest, these guys are pushing Sikhi away from themselves as they refuse to abide by the basic tenets. Sorry to be blunt, but if someone calls himself/herself a Sikh, it means he/she follows (or tries to follow) a code of conduct laid out by Guru Sahib. If not, then why call yourself something you are not? In the modern world its another form of plagiarism!

  13. Firstly, if other faiths are conducting inter-religious marriages, we wish them all the best and hope all the joys of life come their way. As per Dasam Pita's Hukam (out of the 52), a Sikh can marry only a Sikh. Secondly, if there were 1.5 billion Sikhs worldwide, there would definitely be more internal issues/disagreements, its human nature! But we won't start restricting other Sikhs from entering certain Gurduaras just because of a disagreement (so-called lower castes were never allowed int Hindu temples), nor would a Sikh go about blowing up Gurughars where people of a different Jathebandi visited (Shia-Sunni blowing up each other's mosques). So by that logic, NO, there would NOT be more chaos on this planet if there were 1.5 billion Sikhs.

  15. terex Have you (or others like you) ever thought why Sikhs do all these petitions? Have you wondered why we do all these protests all across the world demanding justice? We have marches in several cities in June and November every year to commemorate those holocausts? Do you know the reason why? Because tomorrow in the future, when we don't get justice, when you and the rest of the world chooses to stay deaf, mute and blind and ignore our cries, a day will come, whenever it comes, when that generation of Sikhs, be they in India or outside India, they will decide that enough is enough, and will then resolve to follow Dasmesh Pita's Hukam : ਚੁ ਕਾਰ ਅਜ਼ ਹਮਹ ਹੀਲਤੇ ਦਰ ਗੁਜ਼ਸ਼ਤ ॥ ਹਲਾਲ ਅਸਤ ਬੁਰਦਨ ਬ ਸ਼ਮਸ਼ੀਰ ਦਸਤ ॥੨੨॥ When all other methods fail, it is proper to hold the sword in hand.22. And you know, when that happens, then neither you and those like you, nor the rest of the world will get a chance to raise an objection and say "Hey, why didn't you guys try the peaceful option first before using force?" Trust me, don't consider these petitions and protests as useless, don't ever commit the blunder of seeing them as a sign of weakness. It was Delhi in 1675 where Sikhs refused to admit they were Sikhs. It was Delhi in 1716 where thousands of Sikhs were martyred. And it was the same Delhi in 1783 which the Sikhs conquered and hoisted the Kesri Nishan Sahib on the Red Fort. So be very careful when laughing at these petitions and protests. We have had several battles where we have been outnumbered immensely. Whether it was Chamkaur (1704), or Gurdas Nangal (1716), or Saragarhi (1897), or Amritsar (1984), always a handful of Sikhs fought hundreds, thousands, and millions, and all this not for money or heaven, but to uphold the dignity of the Khalsa while abiding by Guru Sahib's Gurmat principles. Yes, we are extremely extremist people. When we decide to be peaceful, you can cut us apart limb by limb and not shake us. When we decide to fight, you can behead us but we will continue to fight without our heads. If you don't believe it, read the true stories of Bhai Mani Singh ji and Baba Deep Singh ji.

  16. Use facts not what you feel is right or wrong RanaJodhSingh aka Ekomkar aka Sher. Dr Udoke has done this documentary based on historical facts like going back to Zorawar Singh's family history to prove he was a Sikh. You guys try to do blatant chori of Sikh history all the time like claiming Sikh heroes like Bhai Mati Das, Sati Das, Dyal Das, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur(who converted to Sikhi after meeting Guru Gobind Singh Jee), Haqiqat Singh, Zorawar Singh were Hindus. Thanks to Singhs like Dr Udoke who are busting one lie at a time of detractors of the Panth. This type of history chori is really disgusting to say the least. Even Taj Mahal has not been spared where you guys claim is was a Shiva Temple. Yaar Torhi Sharam Karo!
