  1. 'Demonic Warrior, I'm going to call you Angelic Warrior from now on, I hope you don't mind. ' You might as well call me barbie warrior or girly-girl warrior. HA, just kidding - its cool.
  2. Wicked! You gave the exact and correct meaning of what Gurbani means by sleeping. To add, Bhagat kabeer ji says that gods like Shiva are awake, similar with others, as they are worshiping God. He then says to be AWAKE as GURMUKH is the best way. He then explains further how to achieve both, which is by JAPING NAAM: ਸਭ ਮਦ ਮਾਤੇ ਕੋਊ ਨ ਜਾਗ ॥ All are intoxicated with the wine of Maya; no one is awake and aware. The thieves are with them, plundering their homes. Suk Dayv and Akrur are awake and aware Hanuman with his tail is awake and aware. Shiva is awake, serving at the Lord's Feet. Naam Dayv and Jai Dayv are awake in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga. There are many ways of being awake, and sleeping. To be awake as Gurmukh is the most excellent way. The most sublime of all the actions of this body, says Kabeer, is to meditate and vibrate on the Lord's Name. ||3||2||
  3. Well, God even controls them. God has written from the beginning of time, who will move closer to him and move further away: karam sukaram karaaeae aapae eis ja(n)thai vas kishh naahi || God Himself is the Cause of causes, good and bad-no one has control over these things. & kirath kamaavan subh asubh keenae thin prabh aap || God Himself causes one to perform good and bad actions. People think that they're free, so they indulge in Maya and sin, but what they don't know is that they are creating a major bondage for themselves. Those who worship God and meditate on him are freeing themselves slowly. When we become one with God, the destiny written ones forehead, as said in Gurbani, leads us to this stage, liberating us and turning us into an immortal, God himself. By doing the opposite, which God himself has decided for us in the beginning of time we cage ourselves. gur thae mehal paraapathae jis likhiaa hovai mathh ||1|| One who has such destiny written on his forehead enters the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, through the Guru. ||1|| Again, GOD IS THE PUPPETEER AND WE ARE THE PUPPETS, BUT WE STILL PROUDLY THINK WE DO EVERYTHING. jaisaa bhaekh karaavai baajeegar ouhu thaiso hee saaj aanai ||3|| As the Puppeteer dresses the puppet, so is the role the puppet plays. ||3|| That is the secret, to destroy that 'I' that EGO, so that we move closer to God. From my limited knowledge, that is why GOD DOES THIS. Once, we realise this we easily become Gurmukhs, as we become humble knowing that God does everything, and we do nothing. EVERYTHING GOD DOES IS FOR OUR OWN GOOD. For example, someone japs a lot of naam and does not watch TV/movies (MAYA), but proudly shows this, as if he/she is doing it, and this someone also puts others down. Therefore, God weakens the person and makes them watch TV/movies, decreasing their spirituality, hence they become humble seeing themselves be at the same level as others, or of the people they put down. Now, I in one of my lives could have been drinking, murdering etc, but look at me now I'm a Sikh, not saying I'm a saint. God does what he pleases. Even if it does not please us, this is the uniquesness and greatness of God. Its for our good. God is always helping us. Hope that helped.
  4. Hope is basically a desire, and Maya fills the mind with false desires; these desires could be worldly or spiritual, spiritual as in supernatural powers or something. These desires come from the mind, the mind that has produced so much filth of Maya and sin from previous births. Everyone is traped by these hopes and they follow them, believing them to be real, they are controlled by them. However, the hearts desires are good, as they come from the soul; the soul only has one desire: to unite with God, to become whole/complete again. Every other desire is unreal and it will usually involve Maya, as the mind has only lived on Maya for so many lives and hardly or not at all on naam. For example, I wish to become wealthy, which is a worldly/illusionary desire, something that will not help the soul or anyone else, or the afterlife of the soul. These desires are normally produced by engaging in Maya. We jap naam to free ourselves from these desires, not paying attention to them. Hope that helped.
  5. To grasp the actual meaning of Gurbani you have to be a GURMUKH - gurmukh as in Saint. To become Gurmukh is to become one with Gurbani. No one other then a Gurmukh can really understand gurbani.
  6. See the doctor about the hormonal imbalance then, but just don't cut the hair, that won't fix the imbalance. In fact humans always have an imbalance because either they don't do yoga at all or they don't do enough of it. In our case, we do Raja Yoga, meditation on God's Name the highest yoga.
  7. My favourites are No_0ne and STORis, since their wallpapers actually look original. Both still have a few flaws though, but overall they don't look like obvious copy-paste and then blended in with the background. Although, No_0ne's wallpaper seems more poster-like. GOOD WORK, though.
  8. I may have said to much but its interesting, so please read all of it, including the shabads. Kabeer, if the mortal continues to love the Lord in the end, as he pledged in the beginning, no poor diamond, not even millions of jewels, can equal him. ||153|| What I found interesting from the above salok is the first line. I've heard that every single being before becoming a human, makes a promise to God that he will recite his name and love him in the life of a Human. Although, only a few end up keeping that promise, most sin and and soon as the baby comes out the womb he/she cries having left God, becoming disconnected, in the womb where he/she was japing Naam. Here's what Gurbani says: ਪਹਿਲੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਕੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਪਇਆ ਗਰਭਾਸਿ ॥ In the first watch of the night, O my merchant friend, you were cast into the womb, by the Lord's Command. Upside-down, within the womb, you performed penance, O my merchant friend, and you prayed to your Lord and Master. You uttered prayers to your Lord and Master, while upside-down, and you meditated on Him with deep love and affection. This is the first watch of the night, and in the second the being forgets to meditate, it explains the obvious, without doubt what the being will do later: be proud and think everything to be his/hers and permanent: ਦੂਜੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਕੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਵਿਸਰਿ ਗਇਆ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥ In the second watch of the night, O my merchant friend, you have forgotten to meditate. From hand to hand, you are passed around, O my merchant friend, like Krishna in the house of Yashoda. From hand to hand, you are passed around, and your mother says, "This is my son. ਚੇਤਿ ਅਚੇਤ ਮੂੜ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਤੇਰਾ ॥ O my thoughtless and foolish mind, think: In the end, nothing shall be yours. ਜਿਨਿ ਰਚਿ ਰਚਿਆ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਮਨ ਭੀਤਰਿ ਧਰਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥ You do not know the One who created the creation. Gather spiritual wisdom within your mind. ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਦੂਜੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਵਿਸਰਿ ਗਇਆ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥੨॥ Says Nanak, in the second watch of the night, you have forgotten to meditate. ||2|| It has not even come to the third watch yet, but we all know what happens, Maya traps everyone within her net of illusion. In the third watch youth and wealth are the humans fascination. In it they do whatever they can to fashion their body; their mind is always fixed on that - how blind are they that they cannot see beyond themselves. How can such a person love another without loving God, this Gurbani also states. ਤੀਜੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਕੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਧਨ ਜੋਬਨ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ॥ In the third watch of the night, O my merchant friend, your consciousness is focused on wealth and youth. ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਹੀ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਬਧਾ ਛੁਟਹਿ ਜਿਤੁ ॥ You have not remembered the Name of the Lord, O my merchant friend, although it would release you from bondage. ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਬਿਕਲੁ ਭਇਆ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਾਇਆ ॥ You do not remember the Name of the Lord, and you become confused by Maya. ਧਨ ਸਿਉ ਰਤਾ ਜੋਬਨਿ ਮਤਾ ਅਹਿਲਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ॥ Revelling in your riches and intoxicated with youth, you waste your life uselessly. ਧਰਮ ਸੇਤੀ ਵਾਪਾਰੁ ਨ ਕੀਤੋ ਕਰਮੁ ਨ ਕੀਤੋ ਮਿਤੁ ॥ You have not traded in righteousness and Dharma; you have not made good deeds your friends. ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੀਜੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਧਨ ਜੋਬਨ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ॥੩॥ Says Nanak, in the third watch of the night, your mind is attached to wealth and youth. ||3|| These people don't even think at all of Religion, Good Deeds or Naam, they live their life in pleasure forgeting about God. Maya comes on earth as the form of pleasure, and where Maya is God isn't there, in the mind of the human. Gurbani says that we indulge in so much pleasure, so how can Naam find room in our heart, to abide. Finally, the fourth watch arrives when death comes. How could death be on our mind in the third watch when the mind was blinded by pleasure, sleeping in illusion. Therefore, death is bound to come with a BIG SURPRISE. ਚਉਥੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਰੈਣਿ ਕੈ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਲਾਵੀ ਆਇਆ ਖੇਤੁ ॥ In the fourth watch of the night, O my merchant friend, the Grim Reaper comes to the field. ਜਾ ਜਮਿ ਪਕੜਿ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ਮਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਕਿਸੈ ਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਭੇਤੁ ॥ When the Messenger of Death seizes and dispatches you, O my merchant friend, no one knows the mystery of where you have gone. ਭੇਤੁ ਚੇਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਸੈ ਨ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਜਾ ਜਮਿ ਪਕੜਿ ਚਲਾਇਆ ॥ So think of the Lord! No one knows this secret, of when the Messenger of Death will seize you and take you away. ਝੂਠਾ ਰੁਦਨੁ ਹੋਆ ਦਆਲੈ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਭਇਆ ਪਰਾਇਆ ॥ All your weeping and wailing then is false. In an instant, you become a stranger. ਸਾਈ ਵਸਤੁ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਈ ਜਿਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੇਤੁ ॥ You obtain exactly what you have longed for. ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਚਉਥੈ ਪਹਰੈ ਲਾਵੀ ਲੁਣਿਆ ਖੇਤੁ ॥੪॥੧॥ Says Nanak, in the fourth watch of the night, O mortal, the Grim Reaper has harvested your field. ||4||1|| Gurbani tells us to always have death on our mind, with it always on our mind we'll also have Naam on our lips; remembering God 24/7. This is how Raja Janak conquered death. He explains how, to a monk that visited his kingdom once; told to do so by a superior brahmin to learn from Raja Janak. This monk was disgusted that Raja Janak meditated on God and remained a King, living a luxurious life, as most that meditated on God in that Yug ran away from Maya and lived in the jungles. Guru Nanak Dev Ji is against this practice. Anyway, Raja Janak treated the brahmin with a lot of respect, washed his feet, fed him well and then gave him a beauitiful and luxurious room and bed to sleep on. When at night the brahmin was left alone, he got ready for bed. As soon as he lied down on the bed and tried to sleep, he saw hanging above him a sword suspended from a thin thread. The slightest touch of breeze and the sword could fall injuring or even killing him. The monk spent the entire night in a state of fear and extreme alertness since he knew that if he stopped being watchful for even a moment he might lose his life. The next morning King Janak asked the monk if he had spent a comfortable night. The monk grew indignant and asked what was the meaning of having him sleep under a naked sward. He said that he had not slept the whole night despite being very tired from his long journey. King Janak replied that this was exactly the lesson on how to meditate that he had wanted the monk to learn. The monk had to be alert and aware the whole night. It was a matter of life and death to him. This was the teaching of King Janak. King Janak said that despite living in luxury and all else he remained aware of the sword hanging over his head. The sword was invisible, but it was very real. It was his own impending death. Since King Janak kept the awareness of death in his mind, he was able to stay detached from his luxurious lifestyle. He knew that it could end any moment; that in fact it would inevitably end one day. In this manner he lived in the palace and yet was a hermit. Gurbani says: ਮੁਇਆ ਜਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਈਐ ਤਿਤੁ ਜੀਵਦਿਆ ਮਰੁ ਮਾਰਿ ॥ To reach your True Home after you die, you must conquer death while you are still alive. Lastly, I just wanted to discuss a bit more about Death itself. When death does finally come, once he bashes his club on the head of the spirit, the spirit wakes up, and sees the human life he had as only a mere dream; remembering it as we remember dreams when we wake up from our sleep. Inevitably, the soul regrets and repents crying out, which Gurbani says happens to every soul when it leaves the human body. There is a story in the past in Guru Gobind Singh Ji's time, at the anandpur sahib, as it was being attacked only a few singhs were left but more singhnis. The Singhs were worried that when the Muslims come they will sexually abuse the singhnis, and it was known back then that hindu females normally committed suicide in these situations. However, the singhnis instead said that they would never go against Guru Ji, and hence be humiliated and disgraced by the messenger of death. So, they fought the muslims as well and died becoming Shaheeds. Why they said that about death is because the journey after death to dharma rai is a long, humiliating, horrible and dangerous journey. One is naked, and dragged by the messenger of death with his chains around their neck constantly being beaten. Once they get to Dharam rai they are humiliated in front of all. In the life of a Human we either seperate ourselves further from God, or move closer to God. For this reason the beginning Salok praises the one who keeps his promise and dies japing Naam.
  9. Pride is an illness that easily finishes ones spirituality, or decreases it. Bhai Rama singh ji mentions this in his book, in search of the true guru. That is why he said that Guru Nanak dev Ji brought two things from Saachkhand down to earth: Naam and Humility. To enter Saachkhand one needs a lot of both. By cleaning the shoes of the sangat one easily becomes humble, but to do a humble seva one must keep Naam in their mind, not be proud of the seva that they're doing. Naam jap at amritvela, ransbai and trying for 24/7 is how one will finally become humble. To enter Saram khand (two khands below Saachkhand) one finally does become humble, as one has walked in God's Will/Hukam to get to that Khand. So, that person will never fall, i.e. the boat will not sink. Even though, we should not be aiming for a khand, but to meet vaheguru Ji. People judge others because they are either jealous, cannot understand what they see, or because they think of themselves to be "Perfect" and everyone else "Imperfect" - they're proud of what they have and what the other lacks. Gurbani says two things that we should do to become humble: the first is, treat others how we want to be treated (Kabeer Ji's line is: see others as we see ourselves), and the second is just as the sun shines on both the impure and the pure, equally, without hatred, so should we look upon everyone in a positive way that helps the other person in some way, and: breham giaanee kai dhrisatt samaan || The God-conscious being looks upon all alike, jaisae raaj ra(n)k ko laagai thul pavaan || like the wind, which blows equally upon the king and the poor beggar. Actually, the best way to become humble is what Gurbani says, in which it describes numerous ways, for instance to be like the water, as it always flows down and never up, but then it says the water still changes from hot to cold coming to the conclusion in the end that we SHOULD BE LIKE GOD. Kabeer, let yourself be a pebble on the path; abandon your egotistical pride. Such a humble slave shall meet the Lord God. Kabeer, what good would it be, to be a pebble? It would only hurt the traveller on the path. Your slave, O Lord, is like the dust of the earth. Kabeer, what then, if one could become dust? It is blown up by the wind, and sticks to the body. The humble servant of the Lord should be like water, which cleans everything. Kabeer, what then, if one could become water? It becomes cold, then hot. The humble servant of the Lord should be just like the Lord. ||149||
  10. Kharku, 'basically the kaakars will not help you spiritually, lead u to god.' The first step on Guru Nanak Dev Ji's path to become successful, and for God TO ACCEPT US, is to have strong FAITH and belief in all of Guru Ji's Rehits - to follow them STRICTLY and not to QUESTION them. By questioning Guru Ji's rehit we have DOUBT, IN GURBANI DOUBT IS A HUGE STEP AWAY FROM GOD. FAITH IS A STEP TOWARDS GOD. MAKE THE RIGHT ONE. SEE GURU JI AND GOD AS ONE AND THE SAME, WHICH GURBANI ALSO STATES. THE GURU IS THE BEST MAN, GOD THE HUSBAND. Therefore, the reason is a spiritual one. If you want to know the true meaning of the kakaars ask GURU JI HIMSELF.
  11. Why we fight is because sikhs don't understand their own religion, most don't want to learn. Our teachings are not just in Guru Ji's sakhis but MAINLY IN GURBANI, from which no one cares to read, learn and practice. The Sikhs that love Sikhi and are knowledgeable in it will correct the unknowledgeable. This is the right thing to do.
  12. The body has nothing to do with the departure of the soul. Firstly, muslims and christians are mistaken by their concept of judgement day - judgement day is actually when the body dies and the soul is taken by the messenger of death to be given judgement by Dharam Rai. THe punishment in the next life depends on the actions of this life. A few examples are, hell, 8.4 million life forms, ghost, goblin, just one animal life etc. The Muslim's belief of the soul staying in the body is false, how can it when the body eventually is eaten up by worms and becomes what it would have if it was cremated. No such thing. People think they're free but they really find out how free they are when they die. Sin cages the souls, Naam japna helps the soul, but earning the wealth of Naam liberates the soul and unites it with God, turning it into an immortal. Finally, becoming one with God is not an easy task, so much Naam jap has to be done. Once Naam finds a place in our mind and heart then, and only then do we earn the wealth of naam which will easily lead us to God. This is what Guru Nanak Dev Ji wants us Sikhs to aim for, but he says that having love for God is difficult at first. We have to have Sat Sangat/Ransbais and amritvela where we jap naam constantly, in order to jap it 24/7 and begin to love God. Naam jap can be done any time, but the special and most effective time are the ones mention above. Continuing on, our soul constantly cries yearning for God, even now, but we cannot hear the soul due the sin and filth blocking, standing like a wall between the mind and soul. Gurmukhs reach a stage when they go into bairaag, this is the state where they can hear and feel the soul crying out yearning for God. Only a Gurmukh can reach this stage and become one with God. Guru Nanak Dev Ji's mission was to create Gurmukhs/True Saints. Read: - bhai rama singh ji's book: in search of the true guru - bhai sahib randhir singh ji's book: unditi duniya (pardon the spelling)
  13. That was amazing. Its good to see that there are true Sikhs out there; ones that believe Guru Ji's rehit to be more important than this dream and illusion. We have to recognise the higher reality, which is God, the only one who understands us and what we go through - the only one who cares. Gurbani says to always have death on our mind; basically doing what good you can to help your life in the hereafter, this life is just an illusion. Faithless cynics only realise that when they die, when its too late. There are two reasons for why females pluck their hair. The first is FEAR of other humans. Gurbani says the two things that increase from constantly being born is attachment and fear. Guru Nanak Dev Ji says: sir dheejai kaan n keejai ||20|| give Me your head, and do not pay any attention to public opinion. ||20|| The other reason is attachment to humans, to lust but what they call love. The love in this world is false, which is what Gurbani also states: hor sabh preeth maaeiaa mohu kaachaa || All other loves and emotional attachment to Maya are false. Here's a shabad for both reasons, and what one accomplishes when they finally wake up: mohu sog rog log n biaapai theh har har har ras bhoganee ||1|| rehaao || Attachment, sorrow, disease and public opinion do not affect me, and so, I enjoy the subtle essence of the Lord, Har, Har, Har. ||1||Pause||
  14. This is amazing! :WW: The hair is very sacred and holy. In Gurbani it says that when we jap naam each and every pore of hair is filled with that Naam, and at a certain stage the hair japps naam as well: romae rom rom romae mai guramukh raam dhhiaaeae raam || With each and every hair, with each and every hair, as Gurmukh, I meditate on the Lord. The power's within the hair. Look at the story Samson and Delilah, Samson's strength was supernatural and great due to him keeping his hair uncut, but as soon as it was cut by delilah, he lost all his supernatural strength. We should be proud of the hair that we keep, anywhere it may be. It's what seperates us from everyone else; it seperates us from doubt and keeps us connected to faith, Guru Ji and God.
  15. Simple question needs a simple answer: Guru Granth Sahib Ji is our king, our savior, our protecter. In fact he is the king of God's creation, of every universe created and the King throughout all ages. We have not accepted Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Hukam that GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI IS HIS NEXT PREDECESSOR, AS the final eternal LIVING GURU IN A PHYSICAL FORM - only the spiritually blind won't be able to accept this and will question it. So, if you wish to accept it practice Guru Ji's teachings and make the metha tekh meaningful. Sant Niranjin Singh Ji said that only a Gurmukh knows how to do the perfect metha tekh, in fact Guru Granth Sahib Ji erases their sins when they do it. This is because they are true followers of Guru Ji.
  16. Dharma overcomes karma, if we do not have dharma then we are following our karma. What is dharama? It is Naam, Vaheguru, like you've stated; God's name is the True Dharma (Religion), that is why Bhagat Kabeer Ji wasn't really recognised as being part of any of the religions Islam or Hinduism. All he did was Jap Naam. Only God's name has the power to save us, as it can destroy the five demons, control the mind and erase all of our sins from our previous lives. Here's another story, this happened to a brahmin named ajaamil, whos name has been mentioned in gurbani a few times. His story did not occur in this age, kaljug, but in another one before this one, I got the story from tapoban.org: Ajaamal was born to a Raaj Purohit and a high caste within already high caste of Hindus i.e. Brahmins. Raaj Purohit means the main pujaari of a kingdom. A Raaj Purohit is like the head priest of a kingdom and the kings refer to their raaj purohits for any questions on religion. Ajaamal was brought up in a very religious atmosphere and was provided with Sanskrit education from early age. By the time he reached the age of maturity, he became well-versed in all 4 Vedas, 18 Puraanas and other important religious books of those times. His father was a man of high probity and integrity. He used to admonish him against doing paap karams (sins). He further told him to never go in the southern part of the city because that part of the city was full of scoundrels and prostitutes. Innocent Ajaamal who had not been exposed to any evil in his life felt his curiosity getting aroused at the mention of the Southern part of the city but he continued abstain from going that route. He got married to a beautiful and good-hearted woman. They had a couple of children and led an uneventful life till his father died. He was then appointed to the post of Raaj Purohit. His life continued in normal fashion until that fateful day when he had to go to the southern part of the city. It was probably his destiny to go to that part of the city. He was on horseback and as he approached the inner city, he came off his horse and parked it by the tree. He started walking on foot and reached that part of the city where there are brothels and pubs. He had never been exposed to such scenes. There were women standing outside the brothels luring customers in. He was taken aback at such open display of Kaam (sex). Then one woman, who knew all the chalitters (wiles of seduction), looked at Ajaamal with such a look that Ajaamal got stuck right there. His feet won't move any further. Then she without speaking, just with a hand gesture, asked him to follow her. She was a young and promiscuous woman in her early twenties. He resisted but could not resist for too long. Finally he gave in to the temptation and started walking behind her. That day changed his life forever. He became a regular visitor to this Ganika (prostitute, bad woman). Soon others found out about his double life. His wife pleaded with him to stop seeing the prostitute but he would not listen. Everyone was wondering why he could not leave this prostitute and what wrong did he see in his beautiful, homely and good-natured wife. When the king found out, he was quite upset at Ajaamal but wanted to give him a second chance out of his respect for Ajaamal’s father. He tried to persuade Ajaamal but soon found out that Ajaamal was not going to stop seeing the new woman. Ajaamal was spending his money very recklessly and in order to protect his legitimate children and wife, the king decided to banish him from his kingdom. He confiscated all his property and gave it to his wife and children. Thereafter he banished Ajaamal and the prostitute from his kingdom. Great calamities befell on both Ajaamal and the prostitute. They moved out of the kingdom and starting leading a very destitute life. Ajaamal was left with no money, and now had to work very hard to earn his living. He used to cut wood from jungle all day and sell it in the city. He started gambling, drinking and doing other bad things. He and his mistress used to fight endlessly and had a lot of children together. The poverty took its toll on Ajaamal and he became old before his age. He got infected with many diseases and suffered a lot. He and his mistress had several children together. Ajaamal had to work very hard to feed his new family. When Ajaamal hit old-age, his body became very weak but he had to work to feed his family. He sometimes used to regret his decision but it was too late to go back now. He knew that no one would accept him back. Anyway, later in his life he had a son and the day his son was born, some saadhu jan (holy men) came to his house to seek refuge from bad weather. Ajaamal out of his good karma, did sewa of those Sadhoos. The Saadhoos had ridhi-sidhi and sensed that Ajaamal had led a very terrible life and that in the next world he would suffer badly in the hands of Jammdoots. Before leaving they had mercy on Ajaamal. They noticed that Ajaamal was totally entangled in the attachment of his family and because of his bad karma, he could not do any bhagti. They knew that if he did not do bhagtee i.e. Naam jaap, he would suffer in the hands of Jammdoots. They finally came up with an idea. They told him to name his latest born son "Narayan". Obeying what the saadhoo said, Ajaamal named his son - Narayan. We should remember that Narayan is one of the qualitative names of God. Ajaamal became very fond of his son and lovingly called him "Naraayan Naraayan" all day. By this time, his diseases overpowered him and he lay at deathbed. As he lay in his bed, waiting for death, he still had moh for his youngest son and kept calling him lovingly "Naraayan, Naraayan". Saying "Naraayan" seemed very good to him and said more and more of "Naraayan". He felt good saying "Narayan Narayan". When his death time came close, Jammdoots started visiting him and he could see them approaching him. The sight of Jammdoots greatly terrified him and out of fear, he called his son Narayan by name. He kept saying “help me Narayan, save me Narayanâ€. As the Jammdoots approached him, they realized that they could not reach him as he was saying God's naam (kirtam naam, not satnaam i.e. Vaheguru). Jammdoots could not get close to him but his end was fast approaching. Ajaamal just kept calling his son Narayan and jammdoots totally became helpless. By this time the good angels (devtay) came to get Ajaamal. The Jammdoots and the angels started having debate on who was to take him to the next world. This debate is highly interesting and is written in great detail in Sri Madd Bhagwat Puraa. Anyway, the angels reminded the Jammdoots that whoever does kirtan or recites Naam, jammdoots are not allowed to catch them. The Jammdoots went back to Dharam Rai, their master and Dharam Rai confirmed that whoever does kirtan or Naam, Jammdoots are not allowed to get near them. This dialogue of Dharam Rai is recorded in Gurbani as follows: JAH SADHOO GOBIND, BHAJAN KIRTAN NANAK NEET|| NAA HAO, NA TU, NA SCHOOTAY, NIKAT NA JAAYEEYO DOOT|| (O Jamm doots, where ever the Saadhoos of Gobind-Vaheguru do kirtan (singing praise) or bhajan (meditation on Naam) of Vaheguru, never ever go close to that place. If you violate this, then neither you nor me would be spared of the punishment) In the end jammdoots could not reach him and he was taken to the next world by devtaas (good angels of heaven). Gurbani says this very clearly that whoever says name of Vaheguru in the last moments of his or her life, does not go to jammdoots. So Ajaamal, who was maha-paapi, went to heaven (heaven is much lower than Sachkhand) instead of going to hell, as he would have if he was not reciting his God’s name. If kirtam naam (qualitative naams that describe one or more qualities of Vaheguru) can have so much affect, imagine how great and powerful the true Naam that Guru Nanak Dev jee has brought to this world would have. Let us learn from this saakhi and make naam integral part of our life as breathing is. Here are some of the pankitis from Gurbani that allude to Ajaamal’s story: AJAAMAL PAAPI JAG JAANAE, NIMAK MAAHE NISTAARA|| (The great sinner Ajaamal, whom was notorious in the whole world, was delivered by Vaheguru in one instance) AJAAMAL, GAJJ, GANIKA, PATIT KARAM KEENAY|| TAYOO UTTAR PAAR PARAE, RAAM NAAM LEENAY|| (Ajaamal, the elephant and Ganika did many bad karma but by taking Naam, they swam across this ocean of world) AJAAMAL KO ANT KAAL MEH, NARAYAN SUDH AAYEE|| JA GATT KO JOGISUR BAANCHAE, SO GAT CHHIN MEH PAYEE|| (Ajaamal realised the Naam the greatness of Naam in his last moments. He received such honour in few moments that great Yogis attained in many years of penance)
  17. cool, very interesting but I've read it before. I think that every religion has a truth in the image it gives of hell and its happenings. I Love HELL.
  18. The ones who don’t jaap Naam, don’t keep Rehit, don’t read Gurbani, have not taken Amrit are they any less a being? Or any less of a Sikh than you? Well they aren't sikhs for one. Secondly, if that person has not got a religion and does not practice it properly is just a cursed animal.
  19. THE WARRIOR: It seems like you don't understand as well. What is the religion SIkhi made out of? Please Explain, actually don't, its simple, Gurbani, Naam and Rehit. Why the HELL ARE WE CALLING OURSELVES SIKHS IF WE HAVE NOT TAKEN AMRIT, ARE NOT JAPPING NAAM OR READING GURBANI!!
  20. what THE WARRIOR said is exactly what im trying to get at. These sikhs don't know what is against sikhi, like dancing for one.
  21. I may be able to help but I would need to know what the reason is. Although, if you don't attend on giving that then, the truth is she wants suicide because she is following her karma, her fear. The only thing that can overcome this as said in gurbani, is in fact Dharma. By japping Naam, the only good deed dharam rai accepts. This will wipe her karma out completely, but she will need patience and faith. People have lost faith in God due to being born again and again, and committing sin. For help with this she will need to do ardaas to God, expressing her feelings with him, not with humans only God understands what shes going through and only he can help her. She shares with him everything, her pain and all that stuff and then what she wants. Again, shes a slave of her karma and only dharma can defeat it. If you want I can talk to the person directly by email as I'm going through something similar and we might have similar reasons. Hope that helped.
  22. Vishnu in his incarnation as the dwarf asked for 3 steps of land, as charity from King bali, so king bali gave it, which he found amusing and strange - expecting the dwarf only to take three steps of the land. Also, due to him being short. ing bali knew still it was Vishnu and Vishnu was trying to decieve him by asking for 3 steps of land. Now, vishnu asked only for 3 steps because king bali, a demon living in the underworlds took over earth and the heavens. King bali also the grandson of the demon Bhagat Prahlaad realised what he did was wrong and so held a yajna (where the king gives in charity to whoever asks for something) to make himself look like a good person. In this case Vishnu incarnated as a dwarf onto earth to get the heavens and earth back to the humans, gods by decieving him in a small form of a dwarf. Hence the three steps of land. Vishnu then increased his size into a giant, with one step on heaven, the second step was put on earth and the last half a step was offered by king bali of his back. By doing this Vishnu was happy with him knowing that the king let vishnu decieve him, and on top of that he offered his back for the last half a step. So, sent him back into the underworld by offeringto be his gatekeeper and servant at his palace, which he stands at even now.
