  1. its because ur advertising on the internet and people can feedback a comment... plus...(u may not like this comment)... there's not a high opinion of BSSF in some Gursikhs, so I think whatever you back as a group will fall under the radar...Pls don't shoot the messanger, I am only relying what some people have told me...call in nindya, call it feedback..its up to you.. But refering to what mala mentioned above about prgrames around the Bluestar Saka..an example is Gurdwara Karamsar in Ilford has been doing a shaheedi programme for the 84 saka in June for about 10 years now and the kathakar, kavishris and dhadi jathas have never hesitated to talk about Sant Jarnail Singh as a mahan shaheed...
  2. 20,000? Why do our media find the need to exagerate...it only makes us look foolish..unless I missed an area of the demo where a futher 17,000 had gathered... I too am hoping that this network formed by Sikh Channel will take on more issues and demos....time will tell us if this was simply a one-off self promotion exercise or a new wave!! We can only hope that the 17 Sikhs & their families find out that we went down as a Jatha to Downing St and are trying to help them...therefore raising their spirits..I hope that news gets to them at the least
  3. Well i'm glad that there was a good turnout - roughly how many sangattan turned up? Around 3,000 I'd say... A good mix of elders, naujwaan, bibya and kids...From that perspective it was uplifting to see a diverse sangat turnout...
  4. Shows how influential a Sikh media TV channel is... I do agree with mala though...i sort of felt a lack of collective panthic focus on us being there and I certainly did not see any petition being distributed...just saw beant direct debit forms for Sikh Channel being given..and in a way I cant help thinking it might have ended up as more of a Sikh channel promotion excercise..I hope not!!! We didnt make any press stories, not in India, not in Dubai and not in UK....again we keep screwing up on that...so lets wait and see if we helped the 17 Sikhs in Dubai...
  5. I think it means " I am a sacrifice to those who have faith in my Sahib (my Guru)"
  6. I've just been forwarded the sms text by my masi. That makes 13 people who have fwded the same text to me today... This news must be spreading like wildfire and now it's emerging that it's also been blown out of proportion!!! It's all too easy to push Sikhs emotional buttons by sending texts like this..even I reacted straight away... I didn't even get a text about Kamal Nath being in the UK and have only got 2 texts about the Dubai Demo...so far
  7. Do know these simple answers of "learn self defence" don't actually achieve anything..The fact of the matter is a Sikh girl was isolated and targeted by a larger group (the Muslim boys). The scenario is a common theme whether the larger group be muslims, white or blacks. Think about it!..if a large group jump you, you have little chance of getting out so you might as well take the battering with dignity. What the brother did is inspirational and we should all learn from this there are still brothers out there willing to stand up for their sisters dignity. Until Sikh girls or boys with patkas/keskis are a minority.. not just in schools but also in the mainstream Sikh community.. then they will be prone to attacks. The kaum is stronger in numbers and we should seriously assess the benefits of relocating to areas where our community can become strong through interaction, centred by a Gurdwara which is walking distance from our houses and develop Sikh type areas in which the local infrastructure is predominantly supportive to Sikhs... for example handsworth, southall during the 1980s. If we want some long term survival and strength then start developing Sikh ghetto type areas again.
  8. You are absolutely right in what you are saying... I agree with where you are coming from!...However, let's see this as a new chapter and that now perhaps through the medium of a TV channel, some of these committees and the ordinary members of the sangat feel the need to do something proactive for their kaum... Bruv...as you have rightly said this hasn't been happening in the past...and believe me from someone who was actively involved in the old R4G Campaign morchay..there was nothing more demotivating then the lack of Gurdwara committee support, the lack of sangat support and the lack of our own media support...So now that the Sikh channel and National Gurdwaras are taking some kind of lead, be it 25 years late and in perhaps not the best advised way..it's still something more than what was happening before...and for that I see the need to attend with our mothers, fathers, wifes/husbands and children..This can only inspire our kaum to do more and re-visit of the issues of Professor Devinderpal Singh Bhuller and Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara.
  9. If I had a penny for each time someone has a counter issue not attend a specific rally, protest, samagam, kirtan darbar, I'd be a pretty rich bloke now. The way I see it...Via the medium of the Sikh Channel, around 20 national Gurdwara committees have at long last got their collective act together and have taken some responsibility in arranging their local sangat to turn up to a rally on a national scale.. If it's being driven by the Sikh channel then who cares, as long as something gels these prabhandaks together and gets them to get their big backsides off their committee office kursiya.. With regards to these 17 young men...When I once met Bhai Sahib Balbir Singh Bains who was falsely imprisoned in India for several years, he told me that when you are at rock bottom in prison with very little hope and you hear that a group of Sikhs in another country held a rally for you it gives you hope.. This gathering may be unsuccessful, as you seem to have convinced yourself it will be, but those families in India will feel something, they will not feel isolated, they will feel a glimmer of hope..The sangat attending will feel united and inspired to stand up as a kaum for other issues.... We can just stay at home, make ourselves out to be panthic but simply end up spending the Sunday afternoon watching the Eastenders omnibus..or we can join the rest of the sangat and start a new dynamic where Sikhs feel inspired to travel 100's of miles to stand up for the human rights of others..let's not knock it just because each on of us was not consulted during the organisation stages.
  10. As legitimate as a statement on an official website can be, please can you contact the UK Sikh Jathebhandi's involved to confirm that Kamal Nath will not be attending. Thanks
  11. Kamal Nath still due tommorrow?? The Panthic gathering at the LBS still on?
  12. Aja phir...me and you... now  . My attack was at the nindya generated from behind the PC. In doing so I sarcastically attacked Punjab5 for his slandar...I'm not up for a fist fight so don't panic veerji..however I don't see why we should hold back from putting people in their place, even if it's a sikh brother
  13. Your welcome to attend the barsi and say all the nindya you want to everyones face.. *edited*
  14. Maybe because young muslims know their religion better than young Sikhs..so are able to market themselves better to girls..face it you get more dharam pukay muslim lads then sikh lads..so when a girl thinks she's found someone with strong moral values she chooses the muslim lad over the sikh lad..
  15. Not forgetting Satnam Kaur Khalsa (liberal) who stood in Hayes.
  16. jaa rahnaa naahee ait jag taa kaa-it gaarab handhee-ai. Since one is not destined to remain in this world anyway, why should he ruin himself in pride? mandaa kisai na aakhee-ai parh akhar ayho bujhee-ai. Do not call anyone bad; read these words, and understand. moorkhai naal na lujhee-ai. ||19|| Don't argue with fools. ||19|| (Asa Di //) ----------------------------------- dont bother getting into the argument.....i think we all know who dancing warrior is and what his intentions are!

  19. panthic weekly are against a lot of people at the moment....it might be because he has an affiliation to Harnam Singh Dhumma or sant samaj, who the panthic weekly camo oppose....dont always believe what u read in the papers... yes thats what they say but then they also say he is with joginder singh Spokesman, inder Singh Ghaggha and freinds, but how can he be with that lot and also be with Harnaam singh and the samaj aswell because those two groups are supposed to be proper aginst one another aint they? the man produced tabey ros jagei video which opened a lot of eyes & caused controversy...no doubt the guys got enemies now...and i believe he has another video documentary due out soon which probably exposes some new people....so therefore more enemies...

  21. man.... definetly needed technical improvements, technolgical updates and above all some decent programmes!
  22. sadly is.....question, the whole ethnic monitoring thing that the Sikh Fedaration UK have been lobbying for, what are the benefits to the sikh community? is there a possibility that the a tick box for the sikh ethinic identity may cause further confusion in mainstream society? how do we get around the situation where a majority of people may classify themselves as "sikh" on official forms but not actually be keshdhari?
