I have spent time with and have listened to veechars by Bhai Mohinder Singh. I think its the fact that Bhai Sahib has such nimratta and grace to not allow people to call him "Sant" which drew me nearer to him in the first place. I don't see how me questionning the title is classed as "Nindiya" though? I just know that GNNSJ (as does Bhai Sahib himself) doesn't prefer using the title "Sant" so I don't understand why you have wrote Sant not Bhai - it seems to me it's just because you have named the program "Sant Smagam" it would look odd with all the other "Sants". .And to those who accuse me of being "hung on titles"... why make a statement using different titles in the first place? Why even call it a "Sant" smagam?! Yes yes, I know what you're all thinking - "SikhSangat always has these darn debates about Sant" etc and I agree, but Sant is a title, I personally feel, should be used for the right reasons, not because it looks good on a poster. I don't think its just another title. If it was just a title, then we wouldnt rever the Gurus as we do. Every title has a spiritual significance and comes with extreme power - power which some people in the past should never have been given in the first place and then later abused it. I can name you some examples of Sants who fit that bill but I wont. I think the idea of such programmes is great and we in the UK are certainly blessed to have such divaans taking place. And all of the Gursikhs mentioned in the poster are of great stature and have done a lot for the Sikh panth and its going to be great. I just don't agree with the way it's advertised and promoted. But again, thats just my opinion. Apologies if i offended any of you.

Yes, thats a definite. Please report them to the police as soon as you can. Too many Gurdwaras do this and its not right. They must be reported... its your moral obligation as well as your duty.

About 2 months ago, this total MANMUKH stage secratary got on the stage after a youth kirtan event and done this whole speech on how God made us all equal but made Ramgharia people more equal than others. He stated at the end of May there was going to be a ramgharia conference where Ramgharia community would get together with a vision of showing the world that the Ramgharia community has done more for Sikhi than AKJ, Damdami Taksaal and Nanaksar etc. I hate the attitude of these Ramgharias especially the elder generation.And yes i can call them ramgharias because RAMGHARIAS are NOT SIKHS. Only Sikhs are Sikhs. Only Khalsa is Khalsa. And yeah, if you want to get in with the Sikh Channel, just flash a starched pagg and tied up dhaari.

Knowing Davinder Bal, its probably his mother, brother, uncles, cousins etc. Thats what he always does. A lot of his assets were under the name of his mother so when she passes away, he inherits them automatically.

In regards to Muslims and them being the cause of concern, BNP is saying out loud what most British people are too afraid to say. However, that doesnt mean I feel they are justified. Forget white people saying Muslims are cause for concern... Sikhs, hindus, jews all agree that Islam is a great risk to society. AND even some muslims agree with that! I dont feel BNP is trying to cause hatred and violence between Muslims and Sikhs, Hindus etc. As I said above, they are merely thinking out aloud.

I think its gonna do good for both channels. Bit of competition will mean some quality programming. There will be politics, you cant avoid that. But as long as the viewers dont see that and get something positive and spiritual out of the channels, let the compeition begin. Maybe they can influence each other not to allow some of the dodgy stuff that already goes out on the channel.

Theres very few Chardi Kala singhs around the world, IMHO. In the UK, the best Singh i have come accross is Bhai Sukhwinder Singh (Sukhi veer jee) from Birmingham. He is what I would define as a proper Gursikh.

Yeah i noticed that on the Birmingham Mela posters. But the organisers have to profit somehow - including the Sikh organisations associated with it! ;-) Its true what you're saying though. The tv channels etc above dont promote a Gursikh way of life at all. Infact quite the opposite. They pull people away from Gurbani. AND doesnt it amaze you that the Sikh Channel isnt even advertised on there? I mean 8+ manmukh channels advertised but no Sikh Channel. Thats worrying for sure. I am sure someone will argue that this is also a Punjabi event with the mela n all, but thats bull. You got two Nagar kirtans going to the park, Maharaj will be present, and Maharaj cancels out everything else so this is a Gursikhi event - well at least it should be.

lol @ the idiots who reckon Preet should go pesh. no Preet ji, maharaj doesnt confine you to chaurassi because you drank 0.05 solution alcohol. EVERYTHING we eat and drink have an effect on us - whether its dairy milk cheese, coca cola, tea or yes, indeed, alcohol. Its not alcohol itself which is bad for you - its the effects of it. And it all depends on how much you consume. Its like too much water can be poison for you also. People have died due to water poisoning - drinking too much of it. As someone suggested above, some medicines or drinks you consume on a regular basis probably have worser effects than drinking a can of rubicon mango juice. After drinking the can of juice, you were still conscious, you were still able to jap naam, read bani, make sensible decisions, fight, etc so the effect it had on you was miniscule. We are not perfect, and unless you are able to go totally bibek, then theres really no point fretting about it.

Yeah i agree with poster above. He seems to have snubbed the Midlands the last few times... dunno why that is :-S I used to love it when he used to come with his whole jatha. Hes still got a truly amazing voice though.

I think stastically sangat can make up their own minds about what hidden agendas a member who registers anonymously on the forum and whos only 3 posts (at time of posting this reply) has. Dear sadh sangat jee, in this dark age, there is no limits to individuals with sinister intentions hidden under a glittered exterior. Lets just pray for the chardi kalaa of the Khalsa panth as a united kaum and bless the individuals and organisations who are trying to do some good in this dark age - be them Sikh Channel sevadars, Sikh TV sevadars, Sikh World sevadars, or whatever. Dont trust anyone - not even me. If you have an interest, then find out for yourselves first hand what knowledge you wish to aquire. Else sit back, relax and soon you will have a choice of Gurmat-orientated television in the comfort of your own home.

Interesting. I dont think we are on about the same channel here anyway. Sikh World TV was a project of a Singh from Manchester. Whether he has sold that idea on or its still his project is unknown to myself. But the new Sikh TV channel looks to be good - it will open up a bit of "competition" which can only benefit the panth to bring better quality broadcasting, whatever the internal politics and bickering may be. I know one thing though, Sikh TV will be following Akal Takht and will be transparent when it comes to its funding and organisation. Possibly even as a registered charity - which means no begging for 10,000 Direct Debits and no Keep It Free pitches!
