  1. yea, ive heard about it on facebook as well on the sikhawareness page. hopefully its just nothing
  2. Adding onto this, just listening and understanding the recitations of the Banis (prayers) counts as worship. You don't have to recite right away.
  3. WJKWJF, Not sure if this is available everywhere, but it's a show called 'what would you do?' and they give a scenario each episode that's controversial and see peoples' reaction to it. This episode, it was a scenario of a Sikh man being denied a job because of his turban. http://abcnews.go.com/WhatWouldYouDo/ Hopefully it's available in your region. (Click on May 6, below the video player, it was aired on that date)
  4. If an army were to attack Mecca, muslims would never forget it. If an army were to attack the Vatican, Christians would never forget it. If an army were to attack the Temple Mount, Jews would never forget it. These groups would push for justice, so why should we forget?
  5. Regarding the comments, it is very hard to vanquish racism worldwide, but we're not here forever. I think these comments are made by people who don't have God in their lives, and God-less lives are cursed. I'm sure Sachkand has no racism :D. Let's look forward to moving there permanently.
  6. Adding to this, there is a difference between anger and ferocity. The Sikhs may have fought furiously, meaning with great determination and vigor, but they were not mad.
  7. Agreed, h seems more atheist than Sikh to me when he types.
  8. That's amazing...if only more of the western world knew of how big a part Sikhs played in guaranteeing their democracy.
  9. The producers of this film seem to do a good job portraying Singhs. I'm looking forward to it. Seems to be the first time that media aimed at the mainstream can inform the ignorant masses of the difference between Sikhs and Muslims.
  10. When people say that this is not possible, it just cannot happen, it seems as if they're saying that God's power is governed within "the laws of life." How can this be if He is the one who created these laws? These laws were not here before Waheguru, God created them, so why does His Might have to fall within these laws? The laws of physics, of chemistry, of biology are all His creation. He can make gravity push outward of Earth if he wanted to, he can make water hot as fire and fire cold as ice, He can make carbon dioxide the breath of life rather than oxygen if He so chooses, and He can make Baba Deep Singh Ji fight without a head.
  11. Go read the 24th Pauri of Anand Sahib. "Bani tha kachi Satguru bajho, hor kachi bani". Please don't twist my words and write uneducated posts.
  12. Kachi Bani means false Bani. It's in Anand Sahib, the 24th pauri I believe. mod edit: You have been awarded 2 warnings for doubting Sri Anand Sahib Jee. All your posts will be moderated for the next 7 days. Edit2: In light of your next post, warning has been redacted.
  13. Well, they're not baptised Sikhs, so they may not even follow and obey Gurbani as an Amritdhari would, but that being said, we're instructed to chant Waheguru no matter where we are, whether we are playing, eating, sleeping, working, or actively moving. These people are chanting Waheguru as they dance, so I think it's fine, as long as they're not singing Gurbani.on a side not, Snatam Kaur does produce some good audio. It's on youtube.
  14. Respect of Guru Ji is a big issue. Keeping the langar pure and the way Guru Ji wanted it is a big deal. Forgive me if I'm wrong but I fit the feeling from your post that you want to make Sikhi more appealing to a modern westerner, and sacrifice rehat in the process. Stop trying to modernize Sikhi when it is timeless, and like Guru Ji said, he loves the rehit of a Sikh. Also, pay no mind to public opinion.
  15. When were saropas given to enemies in Sikh history??
  16. Here's a video of a Singh holding the flag in game 5 of the cup finals. It comes near the end. It's pretty cool. For UK people, the NHL finals are the hockey championships broadcasted all over and are widely watched. It's during the anthem singing.
  17. What's the countdown on their website mean?
  18. WJK WJF Does the Sangat know of Any Sant Ji bachans, Gurbani verses, etc. That tell of how Sachkand looks like or what's there or what happens? I know of "Sachkand Vasai Nirankar" but I'm looking for more descriptions of it. Thanks.
  19. It's great, though the chest and back workouts didn't give me what I wanted, I got results elsewhere, like arms. A good diet btw Is a HUGEEE must!
  20. I found it online, thought it would help those feeling sad about graduation. They're sad they have to graduate, They say they'll miss their friends They say its hard to leave after so many years, They're sad all beginnings must come to ends. They look back upon their memories, Their cherished remembrances, But it brings little solace now, The school doors have shut closing all entrances. They can't relive it no matter how much they wish to, Their years have passed taking with them their youth, They knew this moment of death was coming, They were blind, turning away from Truth. I do not tear nor mourn, This is a new commencement, These friends had to go soon anyways, Whether in today's or tomorrow's arrangement. I await an old friend instead, I'm yearning to see his Light, He has for me a graduation present, Gods name and all it's might. I wait for him at the door, Just seeing Him will give me endless joy, None other comes to mind whose Darshan alone can do so much, The Gurus Grace through Him I will enjoy. So comes graduation, A step farther away from happiness for some, But I'm blissful as I move ever forward, On my journey back to where I've come from.
  21. We'll see what I come up with. :0. I'm no web genius, this is mostly about the Sahabads, I'll probably just have a stationary picture in the background to keep the main focus on the Gurbani. You can add the account if you'd like, I just made it. GurbaniShabads is the username, hopefully a video will be uploaded within a week.
  22. WJK WJF Sangat Ji, 1) Would making YouTube videos with a Shabad playing in the background and the English translation and transliteration in the foreground count as Seva? My friend said it would. 2)And is it bad for me to download Shabads from a website such as SikhSangeet without paying to use them in the video? 3) If Gurmukhi was included in the foreground and someone was to play it on say their iPod and do beadbi of it in ANYWAY, would that fall on my head? Thanks! (sorry I used 'I', it's all Gods doing) Thanks
  23. The whole world's stopping of these remarks will come around but not without effort. We should however be tough mentally and physically. This happens everywhere.
