  1. Without even needing to bring in the "modern" jathebandiyaa, normally when panth used to take khanda dee pahul from Budha Dal then jhatka maryada and sukh\ maryada applied. Then after taking pahul you could also join a dera such as Nirmala sikhs, and then you would have to follow their maryada such as if they believed in vegetarianism or no bhang etc. However, regardless, it seems up until at least Akali Phoola Singh, Pahul was taken from Budha Dal, unless there was a situation which didn't allow this, and then deras such as Nirmalas could probably initiate their own Pahul. I would say Bhindra taksal kind of fits in the Nirmala bracket, that they have their own dera maryada which should only apply internally within the dera, and not apply in a panthic sense. And then modern colonial jathe, I am not even going to go into that.....
  2. probably still more respectable keertan than many of the keertanis that perform at rehnsbais ?
  3. I see/hear plenty of people from jatt backgrounds marrying non jatts, gujaratis, goray people and others these days. I just don't see these people being casteist maybe for some of them. But I think some jatt sikh families (yes I used that term together) are fargone from sikhi and keeping turban, just gone full coconut, what superiority can they still claim?
  4. I am a bit out of touch with the teens and punjabis in their 20s so please tell me something - do western punjabis of those ages still go on about being jatt? Although from a jatt background myself, I am out of touch, I don't even listen to bhangra anymore, preserving Raag keertan is thousands of time more important to preserve than that anyway. I am back at university as part of my continued professional development to specialise in something new, and have seen some of the new kids mention Moosewala and some other guy in sikh society Whatsapp groups. I am kinda happy that Panjab Radio banned Moosewala music during the pandemic. Good voice, but bad influence. Back in the 2000s, hearing Kenyan sikhs being upset about jatts, in real life in places such as university sikh societies, and online on forums such as this and facebook, really didn't inspire and confidence or respect in those people....
  5. lol what has happened to you? you're on your jatt-bashing vendetta again, haven't see you on that for years. You should act a bit mature now, act like a Singh not someone who gets annoyed at the jatt word, that used to be people back in the 2000s when I remember Kenya sikhs getting all upset about the word! We have all moved on now, nobody cares anymore, otherwise it comes out as an inferiority complex, but instead you should be in Singh mode!.......
  6. which style are white sikhs doing keertan? I know plenty of punjabi sikhs who do keertan to bhangra, bollywood or some kind of dance tunes,
  7. Puraatan Singhs had multiple wives, no mistresses though. and never 100s!! Mistresses is not maryada, and I am not joking!
  8. generally Nihang Singhs don't bow down to any authority except Guru, and since the Akal Takht is "occupied" and currently not recognised as the Akali Bunga, I don't see why they would bow down to any SGPC associated president-jathedaar, just doesn't fit into their ideology,
  9. why is dog in punjabi a banned word?????
  10. I am confused about your opinion. Do you think India will take notice and oppress Indian sikhs, or they won't take much notice?
  11. a lot of people are awful at making decisions, so they need a helping hand, sometimes an elder's wise words! Our manmatt leads to poor life choices, that is why we need Guru so we can learn gurmatt! looking for the good, do you mean dil saaf hona chaheeda?
  12. Maybe it was widely know fo connected sikhs. The rest of us not involved in any organisations, didn't really have a clue. The only allegation I knew about was the one where they beat up the kid.
  13. many It jobs are remote these days, especially because of the pandemic. Jobs such as coding/programming, can be performed with communication through email and chat apps. Also another good place to get contracts is on upwork and fiverr, I recommend to start there to gain experience and money. And some people have made it into a business
  14. when we talk about mahapurakhs, we need to be really careful of certain groups who throw around the word gursikh. There's real gursikhs and then there's token gursikhs. be careful who you follow, and don't follow blindly. Remember, if they aren't Guru sahib then they can still make mistakes, don't follow the words of any sikh before the bani and bachan of Guru jis.
  15. Singhs need to read charitropakhyan. This girlfriend-dating <banned word filter activated> mentality is really corrupting the new generation of sikh/punjabi youth. they need to wise up to what on earth is going on before jumping into making casual partners with their teenage hormonal brains!
  16. I was confused who ghagri was, it took me a while you were chatting about dhadri. I don't understand, what does he not follow from SGPC maryada, SGPC maryada doesn't mention dasam granth? SGPC maryada even allows you to distort dasam bani, ie Benti Chaupai you can skip the parts before and including Arril! The puraatan Akal Takht/ Akali Bunga rehit maryada was the Budha Dal maryada, which was pro-Dasam Granth as opposed to the SGPC maryada which is kind of neutral.
  17. how do you break amrit? I think you can be excommunicated for commiting kurahit or other things. However, breaking amrit thing seems more of a saying from certain newer sects and doesn't seem puraatan or traditional.
  18. I had to come back to this thread because it has so many interesting bani quotes about being the individuality of khalsa and not being a sheep.
  19. yeh it was a sect who used bhang and macchli to reach a higher state, maybe it was shaktas but I can't remember as I don't have the source where I read this from. This pangti is talking about the sect who used these to get high basically, as opposed to naam simran!
  20. I mean a very simple sikh wedding would be something called chadar paouni where Anand Sahib is read, but it's not something performed at gurdwara sahib!
  21. ok fair enough, but yeh cutting out those lines from benti chaupai is MANMATT, how can jathas and committees justify it, the reasons they give are so lame and stupid! Salok of Japji Sahib is actually written by Guru Angad Dev ji, found that out recently.
  22. accidentally posted, edited my last post EDIT without bhagat bani
  23. yeh cutting the bani off IS MANMAT! However the reason. say to read ARRIL is because mahapurash and gursikhs say that ARRIL must be read as well, and therefore I will say the same thing! Teja Bhasauria got benti chaupai cut, he collaborated with his student to force harmandir sahib sangat into reading the cut version during Sodar Rehras, and this now continues to this day. He went crazy, started printing Guru Granth Sahib saroop WITHOUT bhagat bani, and changed sri bhagauti ji from ardass into sri satnam ji. BHASAURIA'S SON wrote a book trying to say the rest of the pauris in benti chaupai are actually a different bani. What happened next, BHASAURIA GOT EXCOMMUNICATED! I can't believe there are still sikhs justifying cutting lines from benti chaupai, I even saw on the jatha website they are justifying this by I paraphrase: "follow the decision of the panth that Chaupai Sahib ends at “Dusht Dokh Tai Leho Bachaaee” for the reasons outlined above." What manmatti nonsense, MANMATT! We should follow the decision of gursikhs and mahapurakhs, who tell us to read arril as well, we can trust them to read bani as Guru ji wanted us to. Instead of organisations and jathas making excuses of "BEING PANTHIC". MANMATT NONSENSE! EDIT without bhagat bani
