  1. That is Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, read the bottom, it says Paatshahi 6
  2. He didnt call Sikhs terrorists, he said there are groups of Sikh terrorists. There is a difference.
  3. The shastarvidiya website will be back online in a few weeks, which will include up to 6 hours of video footage of techniques, strategies, sparing, drills and footage of various past events. It will be evident from then, the real difference between Gatka and Shastarvidiya.
  4. I wear a 12 inch Pesh Kabz and have never had any problems, but if your wearing a bana and traditional garb you can more or less wear watever you want, including full size tulwar.
  5. Forget having proffessional sikh athletes, most sikhs are overweight, unfit and do no regular excercise at all!
  6. There is no Budha Dal Jathedhar UK. If having a farla qualifies you to be Jathedhar, then why wasnt the likes of Akali Anoop Singh and Akali Parmaan Singh given this duty?
  7. Is this because people dont want Sri Dasam Granth parkashed next to Sri Adi Guru Granth Sahib?
  8. Married life and living with others is definitly a big task, it takes allot of comprimise and patience. My advice would be to you, as stated by others above is keep your relationship with your husband solid, hes the main reason you are there in that house. It is important to tell yoru husband what problems your having in the house so that he can address them if need be, but you also need to ensure that he doesnt get angry about what your saying, it could flip and he joins sides against with his mother against you if you push it too far. You need to let him see what is happening rather then just telling him, so he knows your not making it up. Your parents have given you good advice to not say anything and do as your told, however there is a limit to how far someone can be pushed, some in laws will take advantage of this. So what you need to do is keep a balance, do the work that needs to be done and make sure your mother in law knows you are doing it so she cannot complain, but also leave some work for her to do, your not the slave of the house. Everything that is done in the house needs to be done with a "slaah" (agreement / discussion), you dont want to leave the house on bad terms and through a fight, so let some time pass by until things cool down and then raise the issue of buying a house, even if you only propose to put it on rent. That way you will have a property if you ever do need to move out. Until then at least your property will be making some extra equity for you, some extra cash and also you'll be on the property ladder, the longer you leave the the more expensive houses will get. Try to guage wat is annoying your mother in law, and then try to do that as least as you can, on your side you will probably have to put a smile on and do what you dont really want to, but to keep peace in the house it is sometimes neccessary. All in all, its about balance, having an all out row with your in laws is never a good idea. Living with others is not an easy job as they will not be as forgiving as your own parents, but its something you just need to do to keep your family for now and the future to be in good hands. As mentioned above, do a daily routine of Nitnem, read Gurbani and try to understand the meanings through translations or steeks. This will give you a good mental mindframe and a positive outlook on life. Above all, there is no situation that cannot be resolved so stay strong and dont take it to heart that much. Confide in your husband and just try your best to make things work. Good luck.
  9. Sanjam Kiriya Waryam is the best thing for non weighted strength, stamina, agility and flexibility training, this is a martial yoga which was practised Indian Pehlwaans and Warriors. However, this is only taught in a few places. For just strength and dynamic power you should do Dand (shown on that combat fitness as the "Hindu Squat") and also Behtak, which are standing unweighted squats, you could include a jump inbetween each squat to increase stamina and your heart rate. Make sure you go down to 90 degrees on the squat and not lower, keep your feet shoulder width apart and dont flail your knees out as that will damage them. For the above, you should spend at least 20 minutes warming up, then do a cycle of: 5 Dand, then 15 Behtak 10 Dand then 30 Behtak 15 Dand then 45 Behtak If you can do more then that, then just multiply your Dand by 3 and carry on. There is no rest period in between, jus keep going through it till your body fails. When you do fail, rest for a bit then start over again. This should give you a basic all body routine with just 2 core excercises. Go into it slowly and ease yourself into the routine, dont focus on the speed, focus on the form. Any questions drop me a message.
  10. Its all about the rumala over the guti with an embroidered flower :D
  11. Its best to get your Kachereh made to fit for you, as bulk made ones wont be specifically your size. Go to your local Gurdwara and there is normally a Darji (tailor) there who will make kurta pajamas, kacheras etc for the Granthis. Ask him to make them for you, they are reasonable with their prices aswell.
  12. Will there be any reading of the Bania from Dasam Guru Darbar, a Hukamnama and also katha? or will it be purely Kirtan?
  13. Damn, I never knew a simple thing like a calander could make someone so distinct. Why did the Guru create the Khalsa Panth, all he should have done was stuck a calander on everyone.
  14. ^ What a lame analogy. Even though the Guru and the Singhs used muskets, they did not disown the use of swords and daggers. What next, you dont want kachereh and you'll wear boxers? Dont wanna wear a dastar so you'll wear a topi? Get over your paranioa of everything Hindu, this is how Bhasuarias are made.
  15. Areas of study for various arts, sciences and knowledge were originally in the Bungas surrounding Harimandir Sahib, these have now been knocked down though.
  16. How is the Nanakshahi Calander different from the Bikrami? The names of the months are exactly the same, all they have done is standardised the dates so they fall on the same date every year. So to say that Nanakshahi moves them away from the Hindu calander is just ridiculous. If you want a completely Sikh calander, make up new names for the months, which will also mean you change the refferences to the months in Guru Granth Sahib too. lol.
  17. If by disowning the Bikrami Calander, does this mean that dates should also be changed in Dasam Granth to reflect the new Nanakshahi date, including the ones that people recite daily in their Rehraas? I wouldnt be suprised if some people said yes, these heretics have more concern about not being labelled hindu then being labelled sikhs of the guru. If the Guru adhered to the Bikrami calander then whats biting the Pro-Nanakshahi wing?
  18. Creatine works more for some then others, there is no harm in trying one cycle of it to see if you see benefits. As long as you dont continuly use it and space your loading cycles, there wont be any problems.
  19. I have no issue of Gatka Akharas focussing more on the Sikhi side then the warrior side, if anythig Gatka is a great tool to bring kids into Sikhi because it appeals to kids and the Gatka teachers have the mindset to preach to children. But beyond that they have no right to claim their Gatka is traditional to the Sikh Panth. If people on this board dont agree with what im saying then Im happy to discuss technical details of Shastarvidiya and then compare them to how Gatkabaaj teach / learn.
  20. The Yudh lot have all the right in the world to spitulate whatever rules of entry they wish, I have nothing against that. What I have an issue with is calling their shoobaji gatka as Shastarvidiya. The Gurus Vidiya is a amazingly technical and sophisticated art, if these Gatkabaaj can shamelessly claim their art is what the Gurus did I will aways apose that. Rather then getting together to analyze and compare both arts, they have hijacked the name and called it their own, duping the public at large and making people think that what they do is the same as what the Khalsa did on the battlefield, sorry to burst your bubble but Gatka is no where close to traditional shastarvidiya. If you have spent at least 10 years learning Shastarvidiya, then you have some right to say you are a practitioner of it or you have in depth knowledge of it, but various individuals without training, without practise and without any knowledge of the sidaant or strategies of Shastarvidiya have began to call their crappy stick waving as Shastarvidiya. This is similar to someone listening to a shabad on a CD, and singing as they think it is, without deeper knowledge of Raag Vdiiya and saying "Im a Classical Drupad Raagi", or someone making up their own Santhiya and sayin they have learnt from Taksal.
