  1. I think a bigger problem is our own sikhs inciting hatred towards hindus and muslims
  2. lol it must be my eyes cos i swear the harder you look at the picture the darker it goes..creepy
  3. What were the old days like? Good times...good stuff
  4. That's down the road from my Dad's Nanake (Kishanpur)...Kala bakra is a pretty big pind
  5. Well that's confusing cos a lot of hindus believe in the trinity i.e. shiv (destroyer), brahma (creator) and vishnu (protector) - all being characteristics (if you will) of 1 supreme being. That can't be right, because don't we bieleve that God needs personify themselves...ever... I thought in sikhi we take inspiration from some of the stories like about 'Goddess Chandi Ma' and draw strength from them...like when going to battle... Guru Granth Sahib Maharaj and Dasme Granth Sahib often states how a lot of these stories or devi/devtas are flawed... mwieAw mohy dyvI siB dyvw ] maaeiaa mohae dhaevee sabh dhaevaa || All the gods and goddesses are enticed by Maya. I know that Guru Ji acknowledges the existance of them here, but I think if you read the shabad carefully (Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Raag Gauree on Pannaa 227 ) it's more than just that....(but I think it's another topic) Anyways history shows that the hindu gods have been continuously changing over thousands of years, since when (or maybe before) the Aryans arrived in the region. Whether or not the stories are true, I myself DO take inspiration from a few works such as Bhagvad Gita and Mahabarat but there's no real need to look to these when we have Sri Guru Granth Sahib...and we should never pray to them because we have Waheguru anyways...
  6. According to my mum (who's a hardcore fan of Mr.Kumar) He made a pretty poor job of showing respect to Sikhs in this film...he made us out to be dirty, pervy, gangsters with no brains... If I ever saw him in the street I'd give him a piece of my mind...
  7. I read that Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji said to Banda not to have more than one wife etc. but he did so anyway...agreed that Banda was a great warrior but it doesnt mean that he followed every word of Guru Ji...
  8. Ask him why more than 90% of the worlds population believe in a 'higher being', 'alternate power' or 'god' if there wasnt one. Even Einstein believed in a higher power, knowing what he knew. Someone that don't believe in God or denies Gods existence
  9. gud luuuck man i cant wait to get home n see my papers
  10. Its better than nothing but its not really a renewable resource is it? It's like giving a man a fish instead of a fishing line to catch their own fish......Indians....
  11. dont rats carry a lot of diseases though?
  12. As someone from a bollywood movie once said... Nowadays if someone has the guts to say 'main desh ke liye marsakta' people call them a loon...because in India what are u dying for? Corruption, poverty, drugs, alcoholism or the western culture which is slowly taking over?? The only 'patriots' left are either brainwashed, militants, nationalists or loons....or all of them put together..
  13. II don't think the makers of the film had a malicious intent, but they have been a bit irresponsible in their research and should have maybe taken a more sensitive approach to the turban/beard issue and Sikh religious sentiments as a pose to cultural stereotypes. You are 100% correct about why people more concerned about this specific “Sikh” character bopping up and down and not the countless turbaned Bhangra stars who perv around younger women in their Videos. From a personal point of view I am frustrated at our portrayal within the mainstream and can only blame it on our own incorrect collective representation of Sikhi. It’s strange that we kicked up such a fuss when Ram Rahin Gurmeet adorned a pink outfit and a funny hat which we were so willing to compare to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Roop and yet we pay not attention to the real Sikhi roop of Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj which we destroy everyday when we become those drinking dancing turbaned Happy Singhs. A-men to that ....amount of times i've read these threads on this website...yet everyone watches the film and boosts the dang boxoffice numbers
  14. Some Hindu's revere snakes , some believe that they ward of evil, snakes have a lot of spiritual significance to Indians (mostly Hindus) and arent seen as they are in the Western world (bad omens, danger). It seems to me that this ring could be a charm ring or something of the sort (like someone else said) like you'd buy near Mandirs etc. HOWEVER the inscription is quite unique in that I've never seen anything like it....it's like a cross between sanscrit and urdu??
  15. I watched it...brings tears to your eyes....people take things for granted too much...Guy worked for 12 hours and wasnt even paid at the end of it! It's the ones who abuse these people who are the worst..
  16. lol does that mean that the massive football tankis signify they've got footballers in the family then??
  17. kishangarh lol just off GT road , jalandhar disst.
  18. I come from Punjabi Sikh background and I'm pretty sure that the 3HO crew would have a better understanding about strife and hardship than many in my family including myself. Not every sikh is clued on about such issues and I think the 3HO guys are doing a better job than most of us, who'd rather argue about minute issues instead of workin on Ekta and teaching our youths etc. Some people actually get INSPIRED by sikhs doing bhangra cos they realise that sikhi isnt as fundamental as a lot of u make out- that even though we lead disciplined lives; we still do a lot of ordinary things (as long as it doesnt clash with sikhi - which none of you have been able to prove here). As long as the lyrics are clean, what the heck is wrong with bhangra? You guys are just clinging on to the negative issues related to the dance - not looking outside the box... Also, just cos they wear their sikhi saroops, doesnt mean they are saying that bhangra is a SIKH practice. another point, women are equal to men (esp. in sikhi) so either BOTH men and women take off their dastaars (which I wouldnt be prepared to do) or neither. There are so many more issues within the panth which need our attention and you guys are goin off on one over dancing? How about tryin to do parchar against the negative lyrics within bhangra songs and disgusting videos? I'd rather see clean dancing like in the video than Jazzy B playing Rambo!!??
  19. My idooooools!!! I can't wait to see them. Absolutely beautiful kirtan man
  20. Been watching Starnews...what exactly is goin on in India right now? All I see is Singhs stopping cars with kirpans and blocking roads....what is it to achieve?
  21. ^ you answered your own question with the help of Maharaj...don't dwell on it. I say if you wanna be a nihang, be a nihang. My thia's born into a typical punjabi family, but now he's a nihang. Also spends time with and is accepted by Tarna Dal Singhs - without being a part of a jatha as far as I know. Rely only on Maharaj for help (like you have) , don't bother with others because all you'll get is a personal opinion (including my own).
  22. lol sorry your post makes sense but doesnt at the same time I mean...to use the word STEAL in itself is just not nice isnt it? AKJ or any other gursikh would never STEAL anything. Therefore they could not have STOLEN this bana. It is simply warn by them because they still consider themselves Sikhs of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. If in Guru Ji's time all were nihangs it's not their fault that by the time they were born, they werent born nihangs? If you're saying all sikhs in Guru Ji's times were nihangs then why especially cal them 'ladlian fauj'? And also, why did they not refer to ALL sikhs as Nihangs? :6 Confusing I know, but you get the gist. Basically to say that only Nihangs should wear bana is ludicrous, especially for those people not born into nihang famillies. Furthermore, bana is bana, it's not owned by anyone but Guru Ji; wear what you want but for the love of Waheguru stop arguing over it.
  23. lol jatha-bashing logh... stop arguing over nothing, now you're arguing over opinions and not facts
