    Amritvela Scary?

is it a feeling of a pull down to below your naval area? if so, that's normal. or if it's a feeling of a build up of energy, that's also normal. the general principle to follow is to just keep japping naam and any feeling that comes up is normal, no matter how strange it seems. just don't focus on the feeling too much, instead focus on naam. these various transformations in your body and brain will happen at different stages and all the changes that need to occur will just happen by themselves. no need to be scared.
  2. it wasn't just the singh sabha movement which saved sikhism. The british estimated that sikhs would be finished and in a later census they found that the sikh population had rapidly grown. Sant Attar Singh ji Mastuana wale did massive prachar and the growth in numbers was mainly due to his kirpa. regarding Gurbani grammer, bhai vir singh ji tried to write a teeka of guru granth sahib ji that had all of the arths of Bani init. As he grew in avastha he found that when he looked back that the previous arths were incomplete!! he had to ask for maafi for his mistake as he realised that Gurbani has no ant. B/c Gurbani has no ant, it cannot be limited to a system of grammer, as grammer systems by their very nature, force an ant (limit) on the depth of meaning.
  3. if the sikh roop was essentially created by the singh sabha movement then the hindus who adopted that roop for worldly advantages during the sikh raj would neither have adopted that roop nor have abandoned it en masse when the raj fell.
  4. i find that when i read paath it's much easier for me to concentrate if i also read / focus on the meaning /arth of the bani.
  5. try sitting down and doing one mala (108 beads) or twenty minutes of mool mantar simran. if you need to, speak it out loud and listen with your ears. you don't have to rush it. slowly increase the amount of time you devote to mool mantr. when 10 percent of your day is given over to simran, and almost certainly before that, you *WILL* have peace of mind.

    Please Help Me

coffee, tea, junk food, eating from kaami people etc increase kaam. exercise, satsangat, simran, seva, ardass, dandout bandan in front of maharaj, clean food like fruits and veggies, tyaag of bad sangat including sangat with tv, books etc decrease kaam. slowly over time good energy builds up in the body, there may be temporary increases in kaam as the energy gets filled up, just look at it as tests, and over time your sareer will become golden if you stay the path. the energy needs to be kept b/c it is used for physical, mental, and spiritual transformation.
  7. you need amrit. amrit initiation (also called deekhya) is what joins a person to the guru. the need for deekhya is written about numerous times in Bani. the entrance fee is your head. basically, that means that you leave your way of thinking behind and adopt the guru's way of thinking. jau tu prem khelan ka chau, sir dhar taley, gali meri aau. also, the hairs is where the kamai from bhagti is stored.
  8. Raju, the Sikhs were always ideologically split from Hindus by the Gurus teachings. See Dasam Granth Sahib and the rahitnamas, as well as sakhian for more. The Singh sabha movement was meant to correct the lapse into weakness of the sikh masses. The movement had both hits and misses.
  9. although the pics are quite shocking, i don't believe its him. the reason is that if you look closely at the face, the moustache doesn't look anything like his moustache. even with the incredibly blurry pics we can see that it looks very different from his moustache. http://www.theworldofgurunanak.com/full-images.aspx?picId=3850
  10. could you give me the link the katha where you heard this>? does one get more kamai from jap at nabhi then they do from jap at dasam dwar (before it opens)??
  11. first, make sure that you are going where you want to be going. the job at the end doesn't have to be a dream job, it could just be good enough to give you a decent lifestyle etc. also, you need to build up a routine. spend some time playing (doing non-study things), especially like the gym and light socialising. spend some time studying everyday, if you're efficient with your time you could probably have a bit of free time each day to relax. just tell your mind that you will do 10 mins and if after that it's too terrible then you can stop. usually work ends up being ok so you can actually get something done. try to do at least 1 mala mool mantr in the morning. over time this will make you feel a lot better. here are some books that might help. <banned word filter activated> Sutphen - Fix Everything In Your Life At Once - 04 - Maximize Self-Discipline.pdf Remez Sasson - Will Power And Self Discipline.pdf
  12. it's been like that for years. the reaction to the hukumnama ended up causing a split in the community and a new gurdwara was built for those who wished to follow the hukumnama. the committee of that temple won't change as they are more ''cultural sikhs''. a lot of pressure was put on them years ago to change but they just don't care.
  13. what's the difference between the newest (black and white) kindle vs the newest sony ebook reader? i've tried the older gen models of both and felt that the sony dominated. but now i'm not too happy with the newest sony's pdf handling capability. and a lot of sikhi ebooks are in pdf format...
  14. Baba ji gives a brief description of vedant a few minutes into this interview. Vedant is basically beyond the end of the vedas, it holds that the vedas cannot grant mukti.
  15. you can download a sahaj paath pothi (called vishraam pothi) and sahaj paath mp3s from www.gursevak.com

  17. why are you worried? if you have a question, go up and say fathe as they are leaving and ask. either you'll get an answer or you won't, but at least you won't be worried about losing out.
  18. go to sangat regularly and also do more kamai by yourself. the sangat's kamai will help, as will being in hazoori of guru ji. perhaps check mukt marag granth or sharda pooran granth for a specific technique. main thing is to not worry, as they can't do much but like to make you think that they can. just keep living your life and get out more to distract yourself from this stuff. over time it will get less.
  19. they do lie. i've read books written by them which have lies written in them. for example, ''sant'' kirpal singh wrote that you need initiation by a living guru before you can see the internal light. i saw that and i hadn't had any initiation. they lie and twist sikh history. there also is no proof that they do 24/7 simran, although overzealous followers may say so.
  20. the saints mentioned in above post don't do stuff like getting people to meditate on their pictures etc. i think you're confusing them with cultists. what is a havan??
  21. Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh. Sorry if these questions sounds silly. 1. How do you know where and when the next amrit sanchars will be? -they announce them in gurdwaras. you should ask the granthi singh about this. 2. Does it matter at which Gurdwara you take amrit? Is the procedure and everything still the same? -there may be slight differences in rahit, but overall it doesn't matter so long as they read punj banis during amrit sanchar. what matters is that the punj singhs have a proper ucha sucha gursikhi jeevan as their kamai has an effect on you. 3. In your opinion should one be wearing all panj kakkar before they take amrit, including kirpan? -yes. also do keshi ishnaan, after you have a bowel movement. they will sprinkle some amrit on the top of your head as well. 4. How do you know when you're ready? I always thought I wanted to be perfect before I take amrit, to ensure that I made no mistakes afterwards. But now I think that will take forever. Do I view amrit as my initiation into a school, where I truly begin learning? Or do I see it as the goal I should reach once I've conquered the 5 chor and do my nitnem every day without fail, etc? I don't know when the right time is. -you're ready if you have no doubts that this the right path. to be honest, there is no possibility of perfection without his grace so don't worry about it. amrit is a starting point, not an end point. the punj chor cannot be conquered without his grace, and once we are amritdhari we gain more laha (benefit) from paath anyways, so it's easier. if you can't do your nitnem, they tell you to do 6 mala of mool mantr everyday. if you can't do that, they tell you to do 2.5 hours of gurmantr simran. so even if you can't do full nitnem, you're still ok to go in. just note that the more clean your mind is, the more receptive to kirpa you'll be at the amrit sanchar. so it's a judgment call, we're not going to become perfect, but we can clean ourselves up some and go. in the end... if you think you're ready but you're not 100% sure, if you think the mind could be a bit cleaner, i would just go in and do it. b/c the mind is tricky and likes to drag things out. perfectionism causes a lot of delays. don't know if i really helped.
