dont EVER CALL SIMPLE PLAN PUNK they are NOT punk, but at the same time neither are the hives. both bands are pop punk, but the hives are way better musically and have better messages in their songs.

anywho

religious music is usually very overrated in terms of musicianship because i think hard times are what fuels music. look at blues. nothing but hard times created that music.

Now a days music is just a waste. I am young myself but i like the old punjabi songs. People like Amar Singh Shonki, Mohammed Saqid and ranjit kaur and yamala jatt are all good. My dad likes those i do too. LOL. old days my dad's timez. BACK IN THE DAY. :TH: LOL.

People like jazzy b, and those england bands are no good. Nothing positive comes out of songs these days.

1970's rock music=perfection

2000's canadian rock=amazing

2000's indie rock=good

Pop Punk=useless

Punjabi/Bhangra=what's the point?

EDIT:I didn't put rap in because its so incredibly bad

Lets get this straight: rap is incredibly bad... Punjabi music-what's the point... ???

Dude, 2 things:

1: You are probably a coconut and have suffered because of your 'caste,' hence your dislike of punjabi music.

2. You earlier said that The Hives are Pop Punk, but have now (above) said that Pop Punk is useless.

Do yourself a favour... get a life and an education, even if its an education in modern music. If you think thats harsh, go take a look in the mirror.

"Punjabi music is bad..." :) Don't write cheques that your rear can't cash. Muppet.

You called me a coconut? Yea, real mature. As for me suffering because of my 'caste', you dont know a THING about me outside of 1 band I like. So don't make assumptions about me. I could care less about my caste, my culture, adn anything else assigned to me by birth.

2) you need to understand that although i disagree with the hives calling themselves punk, i feel their musicianship is still good. Read above you "muppet" (what kind of insult is that?)

What are you talking about? I'd gladly SHOW you my knowledge of music, because I KNOW i have knowledge about the topic. Show some respect for yourself.

You said it mate. You could (and probably should) care less about these things! You might have made a typo there, but I reckon its the real you coming out!

You feel their musicianship is good, but you also state that pop punk bands are useless. The 2 comments contradict each other. I'm just trying to point out that your absolute generalisations such as these and "Punjabi music... what's the point?" are ridiculous. Muppet? It's not quite a mop and its not quite a puppet, but it does you justice, you figure it out.

You've already shown us your knowledge of music my friend: Let's sum it up shall we... rap is incredibly bad, punjabi music is pointless, pop punk is useless... hmm I don't think the likes of Paul Morley will have much to worry about from the likes of you.

BTW I'm not usually this nasty. It's only because you have no clue about Punjabi music, but still decide to write it off completely as having no value... like most people from Sikh background who write it off, this is probably because you heard Putt Juttan De once too often. Yes, I don't know you, but unfortunately I don't think you know you either. Listen to The Hives as much as you like, (I think they're quite good actually too) but you'll never change the colour of your skin. So suck it up and at least give Punjabi music a listen to before tearing it apart.

Oh and the fact that you have another id which you then used to backup your own argument hasn'thelped you win any points either!

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
