Which Pc To Buy?

Recommended Posts

Try to get a SATA hard drive (serial ATA) as it has a higher data transfer rate than standard IDE and of course make sure your motherboard is SATA compatible.

LOL. Not even computer-pro's go into that much detail when purchasing a computer.

He/She isnt building a computer. The manufacturer obviously would make sure if they put a SATA drive in, that the motherboard will support it.

AMD is generally more reliable than Pentium Processors.

go for AMD- you get a lot of performance for the price

In terms of warranties and that- most companies end up giving you technical support via a phone number that will cost you te Earth to call and warranties are often only cover parts- so personally i prefer to get the computer built off somebody i know and could get to repair it at a moments notice

lucky me eh? :TH:

I disagree.

A fast PC isn't necessarily a reliable PC.

A PC made from different bits causes more hassle in the long run especially when you consider that the O/S is probably going to be unlicensed unless you use Linux.

Which takes me to Apple PowerMac G5.

Good points:

Fastest Computer on the Market

Fantastic build quality

Better operating System than Windows

Can run Yellow Dog Linux as an alternative to Mac OSX

Bad points:

Very expensive

If you want a cheap reliable PC, then go for an IBM NetVista P4
