Similarly, the outcomes of the meeting in Leicester and the reactions/responses in Gravesend, East Ham and Coventry to the Sikhs in the Square event.

Met up with Bhaaji on Sat morning and collected posters.

Posters have been put up in Gurdwara and Khalsa Sports Hall.

Posters and postcard have been distributed to members of local Gatka Akhara and other youngsters. There is much interest and word is spreading. Youngsters will be distributing postcards in local schools.

Coaches have been arranged. Gravesend sangat - coaches leave at 12 noon from near Clarence Place Gurdwara.

Keeping pushing and cajoling - and impress upon people that their attendance is vital. Sitting around doing nothing is not an option.

Of course - the more the merrier.. don't just bring one, bring as many as possible, and pass the word round to all non sikhs. The event will be in English so they'll understand and learn about the Sikhs... and of course, there will be FREE GURU KA LANGAR!!!

All the more reason to be there!!!

Also a benti to all Sikh Bloggers - please add an entry to your blog regarding this event - use the images from the postcard or poster as posted previously in this thread.

Blogs are a very effective mechanism for distributing info.

So stick it on your blog and add some infomation and keep it at the top or regularly commented etc.

There's an example here ... http://solarider.org/blog which has the event as a sticky. (Ignore the rest of the ramblings/guff on that blog it's just a waste of time ;-) )

Or link to it directly as http://solarider.org/blog/?p=280

Pump it up for all it's worth - this is a most important event and needs everyone's attention.Just give ppl the information about the event and say turn up - no need to bog them down with the planning details etc as per this thread.

Just tell them to turn up - twist their arms if your have to ;-)

Indira Gandhi

BBC 2 - Tue 25 Oct, 11:20 pm - 12:40 am 80mins

For nearly two decades Indira Gandhi led the world's largest democracy. She was adored by the masses - 20 years after her assassination, she was voted Woman of the Millennium.

And yet she was also corrupted by power, and finally killed by those she trusted most - her own bodyguards. In this documentary profile, her story unfolds like a Greek tragedy: an epic saga of betrayal and dynasty, family feuds and untimely deaths.

Drawing on personal letters and previously unseen archive, the film unravels the mystery of this revered, yet flawed stateswoman.

[The above programme is advertised as appearing on BBC 2. The programme will no doubt show Sikhs in a negative light. It is up to us to put our case in events like Sikhs in the Square on Sunday 6 November 2005 (1:30-4:30pm) and try and ensure it receives maximum media coverage.]
