A good friend once told me that in the paath whenever it says "mehla 1/2/3 etc" it refers to a particular Guru in order and hence its scribed by that Guru. So here's my question, in Kirtan Sohila ... there is Mehela 1, 4, and 5. How comes its a collaboration of the 3 Guru's? Who made that decision? I'm just curious ...

There are lots of baaniaan that are a combination of different shabads by different Guru Sahibs and Bhagats which have been combined into a single baani. Common examples include Rehraas Sahib, Aarti, Asaa dee Vaar and Shabad Hazaarey.

Who put it that way is Rehrass Sahib and Sohila Sahib?

Guru Ji did it. Guru Gobind Singh Ji gave us the final saroop of Sodar Rehrass Sahib and Sohila Sahib in Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Japuji Sahib, then Rehrass Sahib, then Sahila Sahib and then Sriraag then...... up to depending on jatha Mudawni or Raagmaala.

the person was just curious about this and i guess wants to know the significance for their own knowledge... they're not questioning anything... jus askin a question... obviously we all know 'everything happens for a reason'... nobodys doubtin or questionin that...

it was a question... either answer it with a proper answer... or don't answer it at all..

sorry I didn't mean for ppl to have arguments. Ermm the only time I post on this forum is when I have a question, but thank you all for making an effort to answer my q I know everthing happens for a reason but I don't know a whole lot about Sikhi so by me asking questions (I know sometimes they are silly) I hope to gain more knowledge about Sikhi.

But anyways my lack of knowledge says to me that Guru JI put some of the paath together and I think some of the paath was put together by chardikala Singhs, I just read that somewhere -- but with the Panj Baaniyaan for Nitnem I'm guessing that was all done by Guru JI cos Nitnem musy have been done then right or am I wrong.

I don't know but I guess I put this post here to confirm my stuff
