I feel weird drinking milk now.

In Panjab the farmers give so much respect and lookafter the animals (well the one's i saw).

Pyaar de naal my taya ji would milk the cows in the morning and evening.

Shame that greed and profits leads us to abuse animals and treat them like *don't know what to say, because i can't even comprehend the behaviour of these people*

Watching the video it reminded me of how barbaric torturers might have abused sikhs... dunno why that thought came in my mind but it did.

by the way this topic aint about MEAT Vs. NO-MEAT (and any controversy) its more about ANIMAL RIGHTS and acting as GOOD HUMAN BEINGs and being CONNECTED & LIVING IN HARMONY WITH MOTHER NATURE.

i wanted to reply to this yet it took me 5 minutes to recover to normal breathing after watching that.

i had no idea they were treated like that.

it was awful.i mean im not a nice person, yet im crying and these men who do this, how do they do it.

the point isnt just that we should be vegetarians but that there are men like this that exist, and its not a few but thousands that do this.

and sher punjabi is sp right abt thinking abt the sikhs that were tortured, i thought the same when i saw the way those animals were treated and kept .

u just cannot treat a human or animal or insect like that.

the suffering was unbearable .

there was no need and yet oh Waheguru Ji whas happening to this world.

ok maybe my post is useless and going to make no difference to anything but this was one thread i couldnt just not post in.

yes india....nanaji taught me how to milk the cow, it didnt like me, who can blame it, but although it was ready to kick me i would still want to touch the cow and to milk it because it was part of the family, it was ours and it was a duty to care for it and gosh even to love it.

there was unnecessary torture in video, it really wasnt right. which mental condition these men are suffering from i do not know but that was extremely wrong.

wow man, major guilt trip for me personally...i eat meat all the time and watching that video made me feel sick to my stomach...after watching that i don't need any shabads from gurbaani about sikhs not eating meat, i believe it now.

yeah back home on our khoo we have majha(buffalos) and one gha(cow) and my taya(uncle) would mock us and say is this what you guys eat in america? I would look at that cow and be like man i wouldn't want to kill it, it was kind of cute actually  The cutest are the baby ghatas and ghatis(baby buffalos, male and female)...

i saw one of these awhilea go, very inhumane indeed.

But, this comes to the question of , How do you think there ways hsould be, should they carry the pigs safely and carefully like a pet ? The demand grows, Meat and everything comes down to maya, and the thirst of maya many people are blind in. They have to slaughter enough animals epr day so they do it as fast as they can.

Anyways i musit admit... makes me sick.. Dont know how i'm going to eat meat the next time.

Sat Sri Akal:

Simply put, the U.S. is a country filled with irony. On one hand, a farmer had a case filed against him for beating a rat to death with a broom. On the other hand, these techniques are approved by the USDA. These conditions should be unacceptable. But as long as politicians get their share and the people remain ignorant of these facts, hey, nothing will get done.

    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
    • Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi Kalan uses simple Punjabi.
    • Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it.
