at night, exercise then take a nice warm shower. then u'll be exhausted and fall asleep. OR ummm, get out of ur bed and do as many pushups and situps as u can and then u'll get tired and fall asleep... hopefully

Happy Sleeping! :TH:

I used to have trouble falling asleep. A few things that helped me were listening to slow soft music (eg shabads are quite good for this, i like to listen to 'Calmness in the rush'), don't have caffeine after 6pm, lie down and relax every muscle in you body turn by turn (start from your head, shoulders and so on). If all that fails do simran, reciting 'waheguru' always works for me.

Sat Sri Akal:

Good stuff above...

1) A routine is key. Have a daily time to sleep and get up and be consistent with it. Otherwise, your body will be out of a rhythm and uncertain what time to sleep or get up.

2) Exercise about 1- 2 hours before sleep will tire you out enough to sleep too. A warm shower after exercise can help soothe the just worked out muscles and slow the body down to a paceful, restful state.

3) Get off the internet!!! Stop bombarding your brain with heavy new information. Soothing, slow Kirtan or Simran will help to calm the mind down and get it ready to sleep.

4) No coffee or soda or caffiene before sleeping or even anywhere near bedtime. If you have to drink something, drink warm (not boiling and with a minimum of sugar if any) milk, which helps to sleep.

5) Never force yourself to sleep. You end up lying there worried that you cannot sleep and increase worry...which in turn wakes you up further. Read, do some calculus equations, play back your professor's lectures on tape...you know, something that you know will make you sleep.

Hope some of this helps. Let us know of any progress for any further assistance.
