I don't think anything of the sort exists in Canada. It would be a great resource to implement here though. Operating a crisis/help-line is not that difficult and wouldn't be too much trouble to set up if people were really interested. The easiest way to run it is how most rape crisis centres operate. You have calls going to a central number. The "operator" takes the person's number and contacts the first available "counsellor" to call that number back to speak with the person seeking help. Being qualified to "counsel" too isn't that difficult. You can recruit professional counsellors, but most centres that operate such helplines offer trainings geared to volunteers with no prior experience.

I think Chardi-kalah t.v episode should have 15 minutes help line every week within their program to receive calls from people who need help regarding specific areas- sikh related topics only.

since they are already established and got people's vote. i think it will work out.

Once that is established then they could have seperate private helpline for people who go through abuse, sexual abuse harrasment, racism , discrimation.

chardi kala wont work since that is pre-recorded episodes .. and even if they do it for that week dont make sense since it should be open up.. and plus .. i think singh wants to know about a helpline that is 24/7 ..

sikhs in canada havent even started a sikh helpline yet alone 24/7 helpline, so if they can do atleast 15 minutes helpline session in their program, thats quite a start. Reason why i said start with 15 minutes because 24/7 helplines requires lot of commitment, dedication, money as well, start with something small with audio radio/video punjabi broadcast which are already well established then move one step onwards with help of community, promotions etc..may be in a year or two sikhs in canada might have their own 24/7 helpline...!

also if not chardi-kalah program. There are enough punjabi radio stations who can easily give a gursikh 15 minute a slot to receive calls then move onwards from there.
