Sat Sri Akal:

"But it should done in your or your controlled dharamsala..."

Eh? Guru Granth Sahib is the same, the Sikhs are the same, Guru Sahib is in control...who is in control...??? Too many people pretanding to be in Jathas/groups/organizations when they all take Amrit from the same Panj Pyare.

That logic ain't goin to work... :)

"Bhenjee just a question how about using other baani de tukh in the shabad that ur singing.. loads of ppl does alaap with other baani de tukh (that has the similar meaning with the shabad that is bein sung) .. so is this considered wrong... "

Haanji, I don't understand why one cannot complete one shabad before moving onto the next? That is very similiar to me wanting to read a few pauri's of jap jee sahib, then go tor recite a few astpadhiaan of sri sukhmani sahib and come back to do a few more pauriaan of sri jap jee sahib and then do a little bit of some other banee and then finally back to jap jee sahib to complete it. I personally see no satkaar in doing that.

galtiaan maaf karniaan.

first of all calling someone a moorakh

Moorakhai naal na lujhiyai

is just inflating our own ego.. who are we to judge anyone..

secondly i believe theres has to be a right time when raggis can insert naam japna into the keertan.. u cant pick and chose whenever u feel like doing naam japna in the shabad.. because the essence and the meaning of the shabad that is already being sung has to make sense..

in the old days [when my mom learned keertan] raagis use to take different lines from different shabads that had similar meanings and sang them like it was one complete shabad...

but then there was a revolution when everyone was told not to do that.. because when singing a shabad u have to sing the entire shabad..

but i have heard about GWs not allowing naam japna into the a shabad... and i m in no position to judge if its correct or incorrect..

I also forgot to mention that he also stated that if naam simran was so important and he said if you think that is the main message of Suru Gruru Granth Sahib Ji, then why are there 1430 pages of Gurbani? He said that there would be only one page with message to do naam simran.

Waheguroo Jee Ka Khalsa!

Waheguroo Jee Kee Fateh!!

waheguru jee ka khalsa! waheguru jee kee fateh!!

piyaario...it's easy to say "why can't there be simran in keertan if that's what the message of bani is?"

i do keertan as well...and at times i used to add simran in the keertan to pump the sangath up...but...recently...i've stopped doing it... for a couple of reasons...

keertan is a form of naam as well...a form of kamayee...and although the message may say "naam jaapo" at that moment we are there to connect with bani...there is so much anandh in bani...we have to connect with the bani in keertan...it's easy to get into simran...but...we have to understand bani as well...

personally...i feel that when i started concentrating on the bani itself...and stopped doing simran in keertan...i feel that i've starting having more piyaar for bani...i'm not saying in any way that simran was taking me away from that..but in the keertan ...i would emphasize so much on the simran...i would make the simran make the keertan...and now...i allow the bani to make the keertan...and i personally feel that i get anandh from it...because of the bani itself...

i dun know...i can't explain it...but keertan is a form of naam...we should concentrate on the bani...there are deeper meanings to bani...besides just doign simran...there are life lessons...so much that we need to learn from bani...simran is number one...but there are also other messages in bani that are by-passed...that we need to start concentrating on while doing keertan...

bhul chuck maaf karnaa...

    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
    • Giani Kulwant Singh Jawaddi Kalan uses simple Punjabi.
    • Leaving aside Guru ji, the general question of taking afeem (opium) in limited quantities for war/medical wounds is simply unproblematic. When you go to the hospital, they give you morphine. What do you think morphine is? It's an opiate. Even codeine (cough syrup) is an opiate! Ever had a cough? Granted, it is against Gurmat to take opium or other drugs for the fun of it.
