Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee

Recommended Posts

Please can someone or everyone contribute to putting together a topic which admin can keep STICKY.

The following things need to be addressed. People have talked about education, here is the opportunity.

What is beadbi?

Who is our King/Guru?

Our responsibilities to the fellow Sikh and the Guru Ji?

What types of beadbi exist today?

Where should we start in preventative measures?

Why should we respect the Guru Ji ?

Why we should adhere to the hukamnamas?

What can be done to prevent this beadbi?

What should we as Sikhs do to raise awareness?

What should Sikh families preparing for an Anand Karaj do to maintain respect of SGGSJ?

What should Sikh families be aware of when booking weddings? (i.e Wrong / Bad advice)

Why when a situation occurs it is important for protesting phone callers to remain calm, cool, collected.

also its important to note that when the telephone numbers of wedding planners/hotels are put online it is easy to portray the whole campaign to prevent beadbi in a bad way.

The list could be endless but at least people will be able to refer to something straight away.

hope all can help with this.

Putting the telephone numbers on websites is self defeating and wrong - it only takes one hothead to say something stupid and things look bad - also remember that harassment by telephone is a criminal offence and the police can get involved if people make threats over the phone and as such websites where this is encouraged may be liable.

Better to have a committe of people to do the talking - a number of people who can explain it all properly and calmly - no need to put the numbers online like that.

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

I agree with the first post. Lets highlight and shame people taking part in beadbi. Let the sangat take control. Everybody who cares about Guru Ji will act in the proper way.

Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is our Guru. They and none other can attain the title for a Sikh. Guru Ji has the light of our first 10 Guru Sahibs contained within them.

They should be shown utmost respect. A Sikhs duty and way of life should be to show as much respect to Guru Maharaj as possible. This is the whole point of being a Sikh. You must put trust in Guru Ji. You must read and try to understand Guru Ji.

Sri Guru Arjan Sahib Ji slept on the floor whilst placing Adi Granth Sahib (at the time Guru Granth Sahib Ji were not even the Guru and not fully compiled, hence known as Adi Granth) on their own bed. To a Sikh Guru Ji should be more important than his/her own life.

We must use respect when talking about Guru Maharaj. Would we say 'it' to Guru Gobind Singh Ji? or would we say The Guru Gobind Singh Ji? No we would not, so lets not use such terms for Guru Granth Sahib Ji. And please stop abreviating e.g SGGSJ. Is this a hindi film?

Put literature about Guru Ji's respect in every Gurdwara. Talk on stages about beadbi.

I apologise for any mistakes.

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

Different types of beadbi:

-Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji being put on shelves in a Gurdwara.

-Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji being taken to halls/hotels/clubs/bars/pubs/off licences etc.

-Meat and alcohol being served in a Gurdwara.

-Wedding halls being opened using Guru Ji and sangats money, where meat and alcohol are served.

If only the committees would take responsibility!

If only more elders would take the responsiblity!

If only organisations like the Sikh Federation, Sikh in England, Dal Khalsa etc.take the responsiblity!

If only panthic jathabandhis and sants took responsiblity!

We would be in a much better situation. The problem is NO ONE is willing to put their neck on the line.

All these rumours we hear thorugh the grapevine about threatening phone calls. Have any threatening phone calls have ever been reported to the police by hotels, halls, families etc? Surely we would have heard of the police taking this further. At the least the police or hotels have never made any statement saying that threatening abuse has been recieved

As ever, we jump the gun and show our lack of faith in our Khalsa bros and sis. But we instantly believe a rumour from a disgruntaled family member or a wedding caterer that some fanatical extremists are threatening us.
