please use following template:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am emailing you in regards to a wedding which has been booked for 17th June 2006 at the Coral Springs Mariott Hotel

The marriage party (Bayne/Gulani) is planning to have a Sikh religious wedding ceremony at the Coral Springs Mariott Hotel, which will involve bringing 'Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji', the Sikhs' Sacred Scripture, which the Sikhs regard with utmost reverence and sanctity. The Sikh's Supreme Authority has banned this practice of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji being taken to places where there is alcohol, tobacco or meat served. It clearly has been said that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is not allowed to be taken to banqueting halls, hotels, pubs or bars. Therefore, this a clear violation of the Sikhs religious sentiments and is the greatest dishonour. This is seen as an act of blasphemy. We urge you to reconsider your position and put a stop to all Sikh religious ceremonies taking place on your premises.

We would suggest the religious ceremony be held in a Sikh Gurdwara. Please can you inform the family or stop the holy scriptures being disrespected. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

We hope you will also realise the seriousness of the issue and prevent any unnecessary large peaceful protests. A big demonstration outside your hotel is planned for the wedding day if alternative arrangements are not made. There is plenty of notice to re-arrange this wedding.

We hope you take this matter seriously, and prevent any unnecessary peaceful protests by the Sikh community from across the USA by not allowing the disrespect and violation of the Sikh's sacred scripute, Guru Granth Sahib Ji, from happening on your hotel premises.

We urge you to stop the religious part of the wedding taking place on your premises so as to avoid distress to the Sikh community and the adverse publicity for your hotel. Previously hotels, halls, clubs and other such venues have agreed to change the plans.

I would like a reply as soon as possible, as Sikhs across the country are planning to hold peaceful protests outside the hotel if the Sacred Scriptures, Guru Granth Sahib Ji, is brought to the Hotel Complex.

Regards,

[NAME]

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!!

The best thing to do at this stage is to try and find out where Guru Maharaj will be coming from. Maybe then Gursikhs can put pressure on the Gurdwara Committee or Granthi or the Wedding Arranger.

We have to now focus making the Hotel change its mind. Pass the message on to all your friends & familiy to ring the hotel, explaining the Hukamnama, how this act is hurtful and insulting to Sikhs, how across the world other Sikhs are trying to stop a handful of corrupt Sikh Priests selling Sikhi. Explain to the hotel that UK Hotels like LeMerdian, Hilton and Marriott were more that willing not to hurt the sentiments of the Sikh Worldwide Community.

It better be a 5* hotel

whether it be a 5 * hotel or not, it is beadbi to take Guruji were there is meat or alcohol. Please think before making this thread into a comical one.

The Guruji lives in a world full of meat and alcohol what difference does it make if its a street away or a few meters away :@

Akhoza, would you personally take Mahraj's Saroop on your head into a hotel and do Mahraj's parkash there yourself. Not a Granthi but you yourself! If so then that's your choice, expect resistance from Sikhs who would be offended by your actions.

Can’t stop you having your opinion, this topic has been discussed many times over and it’s not worth re-starting a debate. You either see this as beadbi or your don’t. Good luck to you..

    • Yeah, that's one possibility. Another I initially thought is that it's a Muslim trying to gather info. But then, you might ask, how does he know about Sikh textual sources. Well, you'd be surprised at their resourcefulness. A final possibility is he's a weak Sikh who was asked a question by a non-Sikh and now he's suddenly feverishly wondering where it's "written" that you can't marry a young child. To the latter, I would say, you're looking in the wrong spot. Gurbani isn't a 1428 page rulebook, like Leviticus or the Vedas: ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ੍ਰ ਪੁੰਨ ਪਾਪ ਬੀਚਾਰਦੇ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਤਤੈ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੀ ॥ The Simritis and Shastras discriminate between charity and sin, but know not the essence of the Real Thing. Without the Guru, they know not the essence of the Reality, know not the essence of the Reality. Anand Sahib.
    • You're confusing two different things: One is merely adding starch to a turban to get a certain feel to the fabric. The other is tying your turban once and taking it off like a hat. It is this that people have a problem with. What's wrong with it is that Rehit says to tie your turban afresh every time. If you ask, "Where is that written?", it's written in Bhai Nand Lal ji's Rehitnama. @ipledgeblue didn't just make it up. Umm, no, bro. We're not evangelical Christians like President George W Bush of the US claiming to "talk to God" who told him to invade Iraq. "Speaking to him directly" basically ends up being doing whatever you feel like with the excuse that Guru ji told you to do it. If you still want to take your turban off like a hat, feel free to do so, but don't claim that it's Rehit.
    • You don't need to wear either a pag or dumalla in the gym. You can simply wear a meter or 1.5m small turban (gol pagg or round turban). It doesn't come off.
    • The reason you don't see anything wrong with it is because like a fish in water, you grew up in Western culture and imbibed it fully. It's very difficult to for parents to inculcate traditional culture while in the West. The reason there is a problem is because a kiss between a man and wife is a sexual act (I didn't say it's coitus, but it's still sexual.) By contrast a kiss between a mother and a child, for example, is not sexual. And in our culture, sexual acts are not allowed in public. Goras do allow it. And that's also the reason they have gay pride parades now with people walking around naked with children in attendance and so forth.
