AMrit vela starts at 12 and ends when the sun has risen,, cue for you to have a rest or so on.

In bani there are no raags in the time period of 12am to 3am, WHY? Maybe because Guru Sahib wanted us to sleep in that time period. Amritvela has several meanings, a(without)-mrit(death)-vela(time), so a time that is without death, which is when you remember akaal purkh Vaaheguru. I feel that amritvela is anytime after 1am and before sunrise.

i wanna know from the people who said its 12 to 4 ..what time do they sleep then?? a minimum 7 to 8 hrs of sleep is required to stay healthy.

True gurmukhs only require 3 hours sleep. Sleep becomes a burden to them because they want to jaap naam. Naam is a source of energy.
