Bhai Harjeet Singh Ji and Baba Ji

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Bhai Harjeet Singh Ji

Looking at him it's hard to believe he hasn't followed this life style all his life.

When he was younger he had no interest in either Sikhi or God. Despite his father and mother both being Amritdharis he chose a different path; a path which led to him becoming very ill. It was not only the smoking, the alcohol and the drugs which made him ill - he hated his life - he merely was trying to hasten his depature from this world. But how can any parent look on and see their son suffer in this pain? It's impossible for any parent. We think we feel the pain of life pushing on our shoulders, but the pain of a mother knowing her child is broken is like no other pain in this world. Her child is a part of her after all and despite the many wrongs her children do she will always continue to love them, such is a mother's nature.

The doctors had told this mother than her son had a few months to live, he had literally drunk himself to the edge of death. All his organs were showing signs of failure and there was little chance he would ever recover. The best he could hope for was a few years even if he completely gave up all the poisons he had been putting in his body. In desperation Harjeet Singh Ji's mother went to Guru Sahib like she always did and prayed for her son. She asked Guru Sahib to make her son better and she did this ardas with so much Sharda that maharaj did his amazing kirpa.

As Harjeet Singh Ji's mother was leaving the Gurudwara she saw Brahmgyani Sant Gyani Baba Thakur Singh Ji Khalsa. She said her fateh to him and he returned it. Harjeet Singh Ji's mother wanted to ask Baba Ji to come and see her son, but she didn't. She thought that after going to the door of the kingof kings how could she go and ask anyone else.

Sant Ji smiled at Mata Ji as he already knew what was passing in her mind and that of her son's. After all he had been sent by Akaal Purakh to be there on that day just so he could get a glipse of this amazing mother. Sant Ji instead of waiting around went with his jatha to the hospital that Mata Ji's son was at. He looked at Bhai Harjeet Singh Ji and smiled at him. Harjeet Singh Ji said that he felt Sant Ji before he had even entered the room. He felt that he had known Sant Ji all his life even though he had just set eyes on him for the first time. There were no words spoken, Harjeet Singh Ji said he used all his energy to get up from his bed so he could sit up straight just so that he could bow his head in reverence of Sant Ji.

Harjeet Singh Ji actually used a very beautiful analogy to explain why his head had fallen so quickly without him even knowing it. He said if you ever try to look at the sun, you can manage for only a few seconds after that your eyes start to hurt and you have to look to the floor. In the same way when you look at this face of a brahmgyani the naam vibes which emit from not only their face but their whole body is so strong that all you can do is look at the floor which they walk on. Harjeet Singh actually spoke about this for quite some time. Some of the other important points which he mentioned was about the energy itself. He said he never bowed to the vessel, all he bowed to was the shahbad guru contained in these vessels. It's like our little analogy of the bucket in the ocean. We never try to drink the bucket instead we use the bucket to drink the water contained in it. In addition to this, alot of people think it's ritualistic to bow before places where brahmgyanis meditated for example at nanaksar. But again Harjeet Singh Ji stressed this was never about ritualism but rather in reverence of the naam vibes.

So what is shahbad Guru? Is it joined or seperated? Is it in the air or is it in the water? Shahbad Guru is in everything and everyone, there is no place in this universe which doesn't contain Shahbad Guru. So what makes some areas more highly charged than others? If we imagine the world as a pot of water. In this case the pot has no opening; it is just one big hollow metal sphere. When Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj set foot on this earth in his 'human' form he was like a flame which was lit under this pot. Guru Sahib took this flame to certain places around the pot, as did all our other beloved Guru Sahibs. But some areas on this metal sphere were not exposed to the flame of Guru Ji. The flame was so bright and powerful though, that they didn't need it as the energy guru sahib poured, heated the water there too. They were heated but not in the same way as the water closest to the flame, that water contained the most energy.

Now there were countless saints who managed to light their own flames but how do you compare a saint to Guru Sahib who is Akaal Purakh himself? Actually I've probably mentioned this several times, but just as Baba Budha Ji who was a puran brahmgyani was about to leave to go back home to rest at the feet of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji came and visited him. Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji asked Baba Ji to stay longer as he needed him to advise him - such was the humility of our beloved Guru Sahib. Baba Ji started crying and told Guru Sahib how can I advise you? You are the king of kings and the saint of saints, I am but a firefly compared to you the great sun. Anyways going back to the beginning of the paragraph, even in Satjug shahbad guru existed. King Janak found it and so did all the other saints of that age. It was very and still is very rare even though we are constantly surrounded by it. In the worldly sense we need air to live, in the spiritual sense we need that Shahbad Guru to live too.

Now in 1708 as Guru Gobind Singh Ji was getting ready to transfer all his power and all his love into the next flame, dhan dhan satguru sri guru granth sahib ji maharaj,he asked them if they had any questions. Before going maharaj made sure that his khalsa had understood everything he had told them. He made sikhi as easy as possible for them. Actually Sikhi is exactly that it's as simple or as difficult as we chose to make it. Anyways when maharaj transferred himself to Guru Granth Sahib Ji it was the shahbad Guru which took a new form. It still exists everywhere but now it was contained in all 1,430 angs of Guru Sahib.

Anyways going back to the story of Harjeet Singh Ji. The whole jatha surrounding Harjeet Singh and stood in silence. Then Sant Gyani Baba Thakur Singh Ji held Bhai Harjeet Singh Ji's hands and said, 'now you will be the son of your father.' These words were like an arrow that pierced his heart, not because of their meaning or because the way Sant Ji said them, but because he felt so light, so free, so happy. Sant Ji in that split second took him to a far away land where there were no materialistic things, there was no maya, there were no five evils, all that existed in this place was Shahbad Guru. Sant Ji's bachan was all that was needed to transform this sick dying mona into a son of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj.

Within days Bhai Harjeet Singh Ji recovered and left the hospital and went and stayed with Sant Ji and the jatha. Here Sant Ji himself would pass down the knowledge of gurbani which was given to the 48 singhs by Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. This knowledge of Gurbani is what the taksal was made for, what it lives for and what it will die for. Gurbani as it is often said is an ocean and when we take it gurbani in the literal sense all we do is grasp the water at the top of the ocean. To reach the real jewels contained in gurbani we have to dive hundreds of thousands of metres and it is only through this knowledge that we can do. However knowledge alone is not enough, it is a mere diving suit, of far greater importance is the love for the biggest jewel of them all, the beautiful feet of guru nanak dev ji maharaj.

Bhai Harjeet Singh stayed with Sant Ji for many years and he narrated countless of sakhis about Sant Ji which he witnessed first hand and sakhis which he had heard about from elder Singhs within the jatha. I will tell you about them some other time. There is one sakhi in particular which stands out for me; this was before Bhai Harjeet Singh had even heard about Sant Gyani Baba Thakur Singh Ji Khalsa.

At sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib Sant Gyani Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale sat in meditation. He competely lost himself in shahbad Guru. It was at this point where Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa got the parthak darshan of Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. Maharaj instructed Sant Ji to begin a dharam yudh morcha in the same way he had instructed Sant Ji's elder brother Baba Banda Singh Bahadhur nearly three hundred years earlier. Anyways when Sant Ji began this morcha on behalf of our king, hundreds of thousands of people would come and see him.

To be continued.
