what i wanted to ask and maybe the sangat can disucuss is does reading bani have an effect on you if you dont understand it?

or is it pointless just reading bani without understanding it?

A gursikh once said to me, not matter how bad it gets, stick it out. Keep reciting Gurbani because that relationship with Guru Jee develops. Then as time goes on Guru Jee will bring you closer to Gurbani. What you don’t understand today, you will understand tomorrow!!!!!

same question was asked to shri guru ramdass jee by zamindar sikhs .... guru sahib told them if best is if u do vichar of your nitname ... at that time sikhs had nitname of jaap je sahib and anand sahib .... if you do vichar u can get brhamgeyan .... but if u cant understand and do vichar then also reading it can make your life peace full ....and u can get the gurus kirpa ....

but guru gobind singh sahib strongly told sikhs to try and read banni as shudh as they can .... there is a sikhi when guru sahib beated a singh with a stick at the land of anadpur sahib ... because he was not reading banni shudh ....
