Purpose Of Shaster In Dastaar

Recommended Posts

there is spiritual significance of wearign shastars in your dastar, as well as practical reasons.

article about sarabloh from www.mkhalsa.com

Sarbloh is great!! Guru sahib himself does ustat of the power and says akal purakh himself resides in sarbloh. The power of sarbloh around your body and in your blood when doing naam simran is indescribable!

I think for most of us its hard to understand, so I can explain it in western though/science. Most of the time (if you watch documenteries and things u will know) spirituality is related to our magnetic field around our body. We all have an electro magnetic field around us. Increases in this field have been measured when french nuns and tibetan monks were studied while praying. Ghost hunters also use machines that can read electromagnetic fields to find ghosts.

anyway, all magnets are made from iron, iron is a metal with such a property that it effects magnetic fields in a special way. So gurbani says everything is made up of naam, naam vibrates in everything. There is a new quantum theory out that says all sub-atomic particals (proton, neurtrons, electrons) are made up of strings that are vibrating.. if you were to read a paper on this you would think of so many gurbani shabads! This single vibration is permeating everything.. so the answer science doesnt have is what is this vibration? NAAM!!

So I think Sarbloh channels naam a lot better than anything else and having sarbloh around us and in us helps us channel our bhagti easier.

Sarbloh has great and indescribable powers and is very beloved to our guru sahib.

So when you put Sarabloh Shastars in your dastar, over your Dasam Duaar, they act as antennae like your jooRaa.

i know the origons of shastar vidya, but its so difficult to get a propa teacha, n its so distorted now, so its better just to practice as much as u can, the important fing is that we are learning systems on how to defend

Yeah true. Even Bruce Lee said dont think of it as a chinese system or a japanese system, because you can learn from all and obtain a higher truth.

thats it man, more vidiya aint exactly going to make u less of a fighter. in that way you also can adapt you own style.

Yep and you always to need a system to start with inorder for you to explore yourself and your abilities. Which is always apart of the learning curve.

i think its important to learn different types of fighting vidiya, even of shastar, such as kali, kendo etc, wat ever is available to u. things like thai bocing, boxing etc

Kali is already a part of Shastar Vidiya, Kali means Death. Even in the time of Satyug there was Shastar Vidiya but as time went by, this Vidiya expanded into other countrys into different style's like Kung Fu, Karate etc etc. This is why people that come to Shastar Vidiya that are against this Vidiya, think that Shastar Vidiya is coping other systems. Shastar Vidiya also teaches you technique's which are simpler to the Sticky Parm Technique which is also found in Wing Tsun. Everyone that thinks that Shastar Vidiya is copying other systems, this isnt true and there are also similarities between systems. The origin of all Martial Arts came from around North India (or whatever it was called in Satyug).

"Kali means Death"

The word Kali in this context is totally taken out of its symbolistic meaning it does not refer to death full stop but to a concept of time its movement in the form of the never ending dance. The make up of a lot of martial arts today do have a dubious history, one needs to be careful about who they entrust there loyalty to.

Ask your Shastra Vidya Ustad about Kali in reference to the Vidya. You may be surprised to learn how they summon the mysterious essence of Kali in the most ancient of Vidyas.

Here is a document to confirm what 'Jassa' Bhai sahib has said about 'Kirpan/kard' in the kesh

This picture shows the " Authorized method of preparing Amrit". The document is dated VS 1934 (AD 1878) was issued from The "Siri Takht Sahib Akal Bunga" and has an official stamp / mohur.

It takes the form of question and answer - and covers issues such as the required qualities of the "Punj"- (they must be rehati and bibeki - not have any 'sath' with 'kurehatis' - they should be regular reciters of Asa ki war, Japji, Jaap, Rehras, Sohila. Chandi path, and 33 swayas before eating - and should not eat before reciting Anand and 'Kard Bhet' and not eat with non amrit takers - and should wear shaster in gatra.) , the method of preparing Amrit - and gives the rehat to be followed and tankahs to be avoided - Such as not to have 'sath' with the 'punj mel' - Miney, dhirmaley, Masand , kurimar and Sirgum. To practice Shaster vidia , keep shaster in 'gatra', Respect the kesh give it 'dhoop' incense, keep a kangha , Kard/kirpan in kesh and Sarb loh kara on right wrist - not to remove the kach completely - one leg at a time when changing - if the turban or kach is accidently removed to seek tankah from 'Punj' - should learn Gurmukhi, Have no 'sath' with 'parai aurat' anothers wife or 'sath ' with 'Musli' - and no 'sath' or eat with 'Nari mar' or eaters of 'Kutha' meat. - Should not wear red - should learn Bani by heart and place or 'bhet' kard in food before eating it - should not eat bareheaded or before reciting Japji and Jaap Sahib.Sons and daughters should be named from Siri Guru Granth Sahib - Not to remove any hair from any 'Ang' with razor or scissors.

There is no prescribed day for Amrit or place but it is best to take amrit from the takhts -Akal Takht , Patna Sahib, Kesgarh Sahib and Hazoor Sahib - however main consideration is that 'Punj' should be Rehat Bibeki Singhs - these are the 5th moving takht of Sikhs. If these 4 tankah are commited - Kesh removal, Kutha , Narimar or Musli sath - must come before one of the 4 takhts for 'Baksh' no other place can grant 'baksh' - if just one tankah commited the fine is 25 rupees - if 'baksh' is not sought 'Chaurasi ' awaits.

As the script is joined up 'laridar' it takes a while to read - please forgive and correct any errors I have made.

Very nice Freed!

Here's another reason that wasn't listed in terms of modern society. If you get pulled over by the police or in another encounter with the police, the cop might not have the knowledge of the kirpan and may confiscate it, but if you have it in your dastaar they won't touch your dastaar as long as shastar is gupt. My two cents.
