Media, Sikhs & Big Brother

As many of news readers, new watchers & radio listeners within the UK especially will of heard of “storm” caused by the media in regards to the indian actress shilpa shetty and big brother, I do feel how the house mates address shilpa sometimes is wrong however lets not side track this thread into a big brother debate.

The main point I wanted to address is, as some of us will know how Paramjeet Singh(who has been a Wolverhampton resident for 40 years), Amolak Singh and Jasvinder Singh are being held in a maximum security jail in Nabha (India), this is nothing new as Sikhs especially those in India have suffered this day in day out, as well other international Sikhs such as the recent case of Balbir Singh Khalsa who was set up fake charges and acquitted and still remained imprisoned.

Im aware that issue has APPRANTLY been raised with The Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown and various other MPS. Yet Gordon Brown has made numerous tv appearances etc and has FAILED THE SIKHS AGAIN like TONY BLAIR in not even TRYING TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. This was the same case after the 7/7 bombings, again and again we have been failed by this government on various issues and will continue to do so. When will we learn, is there a solution for this. Please don’t turn this in a thread about Big brother, shilpa shetty or other irrelevant issues.

as i have said in a similar thread - they care more about world trade than anything else - its the harsh reality but if they can avoid 'small' situations and deal with the majority instead (people protesting about the famous shilpa shetty) then they can and will do so!

This has been going on for years.

We pay our tv license fee and what do we get in return ? The Asian Network which is staffed by pseudo apne who would not be able to break into mainstream broadcasting so they happily use their skin colour to get a job in broadcasting via the Asian Network.

Take a look at the various local news programs broadcast by the BBC. The BBC West Midlands News could not get enough of the Tipton Taliban lot. Every week we had some story related to them. Now we have a scenario where someone from the Midlands has been arrested, tortured etc and the BBC West Midlands news wale are no where to be found.

At Ramadan they air special programs for the Muslims (which I have no problem with) but where are the programs for Sikhs at Vasaikhi etc ?

It is time the BBC either started providing programming for all minority groups or stopped the promotion of programs aimed at one or two specific religions.

But, at the end it is us who fail to make ourselves heard.We also have the voting power.
