Sikhs are standing on the cusp of a catastrophe which most of us are not even aware of.

Recent figures show that Punjab has the worst sex ratio in the whole of India -- for every 1000 males born in Punjab only 776 girls are born.

Let me put this in stark terms.

Punjabis have wiped out one quarter of girls inside the womb in the last census.

One generation from now one quarter of Sikh men will be unable to find a spouse because one quarter of Sikh women have been murdered inside the womb.

Let's put this in perspective --- this will lead to the most horrendous social problems imaginable. Polyandry, woman trafficking, violence against women.

And putting it in even more perspective, India has the worst sex ratio in the world, and Punjabis (and Sikhs) are the WORST of the WORST in the WORLD.

No other race of people has WIPED out ONE QUARTER of its female population in history, yet we have carried out this catastophe and evil.

And what are we doing about it?

Putting it on the agenda for the politicians and religious authorities in India is one thing that we can do! This is a catastrophe that needs to be stopped! Activism and put people into effect!

On a personal level we should stop dowry and get people in Gurdwara to talk about it! Get SGPC to set up an army to combat this at every level of Punjab society! Get the Punjab government to spend money and set up teams in every city and town devoted to monitoring this! Tracking down those wo perform these abortions! Putting those who do this in prison and bringing shame on them and treating every single female abortion as a crime against the whole Sikh Panth!

SGPC and others always say they gonna do somethin but havent. no point having faith in panjab govt. akalis (badal) and congress have never even raised a voice against it. SS mann has raised the issue many times but everyone seems to think hes out of his mind.

on a side note dowry was stopped in the days of Sikh militancy and only 5 guys was allowed to go as janayt just incase doery may have been forcefully taken

the idea is good but would sgpc really do this their more concerned about the money of the golaks n keeping it rather than using it so spend on issues.. the sgpcs needs to be reformed or boycotted completely

the sgpc has always let people down so how can people really belvie that they will do something now? not long ago one member of sgpc killed their own daughter.

if think we need an independant group to tackle the situation as i dont belive sgpc are capable to deal with it.

i dont understand one thing .. why would anyone kill anyone because of their sexe ? i mean most parents in north america dont care if they have a girl or boy... my rentz actually think havin daughters is a good thing because they help u out more... n most times they are more obedient ... so then y would anyone want to kill girls ?
