SHIROMANI AKALI DAL (Badal)

has won the 12th Vidhan Sabha of Panjab to occupy the cabinet for the

next five years!

Parkash Singh Badal (SAD President) has become the new Chief Minister of Panjab.

Results of 116 out of the 117 seats have been declared, where the SAD-BJP Alliance has won 68 and the Congress has won 43 seats. 5 seats have been taken by other smaller oppositions. The Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) under Simranjeet Singh Mann has unfortunately lost greatly...No victory for Sikhs in Panjab Politics yet...

BJP wants Deputy CM’s post

Ajay Banerjee

Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, February 27

Knowing full well that it holds the key to the formation of the Badal-led government, the Bharatiya Janata Party, will stake claim for the post of Deputy chief minister.

It is for the first time in Punjab that the BJP will hold a position of importance on the political scene. “With 19 seats in its kitty, the party has done very well.

“ Everybody, including the media, underestimated us”, said a relieved Avinash Rai Khanna, chief of the BJP’s Punjab unit. At one point of time, its alliance partner had expressed reservations on alloting 23 seats for the BJP . The turnaround is such that the BJP will now aid the SAD in forming the government.

For the BJP, this is a better performance than even the 1997 assembly elections when the SAD-BJP combine was voted to power on the charisma of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the anti-incumbency wave in Punjab.

Then the SAD had a brute majority of 75 MLAs and the BJP 18 MLAs Now the SAD’s tally is under 50 seats and it will be the BJP that will help in formation of the government. It will also be the first time that BJP will taste the power in terms of having the alliance under control, said a party worker.

Khanna said after due consultation with the party high command the demand for deputy chief ministership will be raised and “we will have a fair share in the government.” Senior BJP leader R.P. Singh, who is close to BJP chief Rajnath Singh, was candid enough to admit over the phone from Delhi that “ we will stake claim for the post.” The BJP leaders tipped for the post are Mohan Lal, Satpal Gosian, Swarna Ram and Manoranjan Kalia, party sources said.

Senior BJP leaders would express their anguish in private at the “lack of respect” shown to them. Also, crucially, for the SAD, it will not be easy to change Chief Minister mid-term and hand over the reins to Sukhbir Badal,” pointed out another observer.

without starting a argument - i just wanted to know what has Badal done wrong? please dont give me a article or somthing with confusin words jus straight forwards sentences would be good!!

please answerrrr!!! :TH:

Badal and company are going to start raking in money again, and make life hell for the middle class. Every government post will be on sale. It just feeds corruption. Let me give you an example:

A person who has studied all his life to get a certain government post. After he/she writes the appropriate entrance tests and passes all the interviews, he/she will still not get the job unless Rs 50 lakh is paid to Mr. Badal's personal fund (Madam Jee, to be precise). Now, where does a middle class family bring Rs 50 lakh? They beg and borrow money from everyone they know inorder to get the job for their son/daughter. NOBODY IS BORN CORRUPT. Now, where does this person get money to repay all his debts? He certainly can't do it from his salary. He/She has no option but to start accepting bribes which slowly turns into a convinient habit.

That is just part of what Mr. Badal did wrong the last time around.

Anyways, SAD is not the big worry this time. They will just make the middle class lives hell? The main concern for the Sikh Panth should be the balance of power held by BJP this time around. We are all to blame anyways. All the punjabis like us are moving to the west, and we expect the Bhaiyas not to vote for BJP.

That is absolutely correct - Now the Panth should be more concerned about the BJP's massive unprecedented influence in Panjab for the next five years, more than the Badal government, who has been in power many times before anyway.

Guest PunjabSingh

BJP has won,the Sikh panth has lost in Punjab.

19 seats this time for BJP from 3 last time, courtesy of badal.

Now BJP is expected to get atleast 5 ministerial posts and perhaps the post of Deputy CM and Deputy Speaker.

The infidels in Punjab have not voted for any Panthic party.

Perhaps the Sikhs living abroad should be more concerned about their motherland instead of making money abroad .

If this trend continues you will perhaps return here to see Bihar/UP and you will never find the true Punjab again.

As Sant Bhindranwalay said "Jaikaray na chhado Singho ajay taan aapaan khushray haan".The way the Panthic parties have been rejected even by Sikhs proves his point .

I think Sardar Mann,Bhai Bittu and others should stop sacrificing and getting beaten up(like it happened at Kathunangal) .It's just not worth sacrificing for these infidels. They are destined to be ruled by either badal-BJP or Congress. They have themselves accepted to be enslaved by the 2 party system and they dont want to be removed from their clutches, so be it.

This time too they will again suffer under badal-BJP regime and then they will reject them after 5 years and again congress-BJP-congress-BJP and so on.I have not written badal dal because every sane person knows badal dal will not be able to take independent decisions and to carry on the Panthic agenda now.

Only God can save us now.
