Police book miscreants for demolishing gurdwara

Ludhiana, April 27: Tension gripped Meena Bazaar this afternoon following incidents of some people who reportedly tried to demolish a gurdwara to set up a mosque.

In his complaint to Division Number 4 police, Kuldeep Singh, president of Meena Bazaar Shopkeepers’ Association, said that on the night of April 26, Iqraar Ali, Pillar and some other people of the area demolished the gurdwara in the market. “A tree on the premises of the gurdwara was chopped and the Guru Granth Sahib was removed from its place,” Singh said.

Ludhiana Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Manjit Singh Dhesi reached the spot and tried to pacify the people gathered there. Representatives of various bodies including Pawan Garg of Shiv Sena Bal Thackeray, Swarn Singh of Akalgarh Market Association and Kuldeep Singh of Meena Bazaar Shopkeepers’ Association had gathered at the spot. Meanwhile, police have booked Iqraar Ali, Pillar and others for hurting the religious sentiments of the people and demolishing the structure.

The Kotwali police yesterday booked a person of a minority community for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of Sikhs by obliterating the name of an old gurdwara and taking away a Bir of Guru Granth Sahib in Meena Bazar, here.

Sensing trouble, a heavy police force that was rushed to the area succeeded in keeping the frayed tempers under control.

The devotees later installed a new Guru Granth Sahib after performing the ritual parkash of the new Bir.

Was is really the Ali guy who thought of "demolishing" the gurughar or someone big behind the whole story..... I personally feel there is more to the story... ludhiana is strong BJP area and by making muslims do such things and then BAJRANG DAL running to help sikhs, they are trying to send out their message of hating muslims. Only thorough investigation can reveal truth. This might seem like conspiracy theory to someone, but i think there is much bigger picture and different people behind this incident.

Something sounds odd abt this story, as soon as bal thackery (leader of Hindu terror org -shiv sena) name is mentioned in article you can assume the cheeky brahmins are upto something. Most of the very few muslims in Punjab are ahmediya/qadani's they wouldnt dare do anything to disrupte communal harmony with Sikhs, as they are persecuted by muslims elsewhere especially by sunni muslims in pakistan.
