Urgent ! Save Akash Radio

Dear Sangat,

I would like to bring you to your notice that Akash Radio which is one of the few panthic radio stations in uk and europe is on the verge of closure .This was jointly anounced on monday morning by Sukhwinder Singh (presenter and managing director), Giani Gurmeet Singh ji Gourav( Gurbani presenter), Giani Kulwinder Singh Ji Roshan (Gurbani presenter) in morning programme.

He had been running this radio station since last five years amidst finanicial difficulties but never asked sangat for money and radio survived on voluntary donations of sangat and sometimes out of his own pocket in crisis. He said that because enough donations had not been recieved in last few months and the bills kept piling up and eventually they have now recieved the final notice by Sky either deposit £40,000 by june 15 or they will face disconnection. They had never asked sangat for help but said that things had gone too far this time and they had to disclose this to sangat and finally had to ask them for help. They have appealed sangat to donate money so that radio can be kept running or they have to shut it down and debts will be paid by selling the radio station which was evalued and was estimated worth £100,000. They have also invited that if any panthic party is committed to sikhi parchar and are ready to takeover the radio station for gurbani and sikhi parchar they can come forward and takeover. As soon as they announced it on air listeners from uk and all over europe called them on air and gave them moral and monetary suppory. All the sangat was so generous and had so much love for Sukhwinder Singh Ji and the radio and said that they would not let the radio to close down no matter whatever happens. At one point Sukhwinder Singh Ji was so moved by sangat's support and nearly broke down and became silent on air while taking up sangat's calls. Nearly £8,000 has been raised as per das' calculations as they announced donations on air in just two days by but the next few days are not gonna be same coz most of the listeners have already donated and target is huge. Although they read out all donations in their programmes on air but they will be updating sangat on wed 30 may in 8-10 pm programme and read out all the donations and be accountable to sangat make the situation more clearer.

Sangat jee this radio is run by Sukhwinder Singh Ji who is amritdhaari and is very committed to sikhi cause.He said he had invested all in the radio he had and now can't do anymore so now it's upto sangat. Sangat jee we already don't have our own media and if this radio closes down it will be a big blow for sikhi and gurbani parchar in u.k and europe because they were doing pretty good work and especially in last few days they had been updating sangat live via moble on events in punjab through their links who were present in punjab. Sangat jee especially those in uk and europe please donate generously whatever you can otherwise it will be a big loss to sangat in U.k and europe. We all waste so much money on our own self and useless things and harldy give out daswand which is also hukam of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This would be a really good sewa to sikhi.

akaash radio plays SDO's bagwaas every sunday morning, on one hand they call themselves panthic on the other you hear this man talking rubbish and discredting everthing the panth believes in !!! so if it closes perhaps it should have listened to what it was playing... you can't have it both ways, serve the panth and then play stuff which talks about how Guru Granth sahib ji can't be our guru becus it can't remove a fly, how harmandhir sahib isn't pavitar at all, the list is endless... when he was queried on why he continues to play these tapes his answer was we should take the good and ignore the bad !!!!

I'd slightly differ wiv u paaji on panjab radio issue. I listen to panjab radio as well as akash radio. Panjab radio aint dat bad. Yes they made a mistake in giving time to ghagga on air who did speak shyt but their presenters gurdeep singh ji, jasvir singh ji and satnam singh ji are very good and won't even dare to speak against any guru sahib or shaheeds even i myself heard gurdeep singh ji saying " people question whether baba deep singh ji's head was severed or not but little do they know the power of naam...they should first try to reach that avastha before questioning". They are very committed and wise as well. As for ghuman i don't know him coz he rarely comes on air but he's definitely mona. I support both radios as well as two others like sukh sagar and amrit bani (respekt for them for running 24 hrs bani and sikhi related stuff and nothing else) simply for the reason that they are doin gurbani parchar. We need to back up and make our media stronger and appreciate their good work rather than differentiating who'd good or bad.

And a reminder to you all. Plz help akash radio and help make our media stronger. We are very weak coz we don't have proper sikh media. I have no words for sukhwinder singh ji's praise.

he was an amazing kirtanee who lost the plot totally, basically ended up confusing himself and all other's around him... sad story but akash radio does play his rubbish between 10 and 12am on sundays... sorry mate all radio stations have agendas, to call any panthic would be a huge mistake...
