Waheguru ji ka khalsa, Waheguru ji ki fateh Sangat Ji,

I got a forwarded email from a friend today about RENNET. I never heard of the stuff before, and probably most people haven't... and as we are vegetarian i would assume you'd want to know about it.

"it's found in cheeses, chocolate bars, yoghurts, etc. Rennet "is a natural complex of enzymes produced in any mammalian stomach to digest the mother's milk"...sometimes they use calf's rennet and sometimes pork's..."

If that wasn't enough: "Natural calf rennet is extracted from the inner mucosa of the fourth stomach chamber (the abomasum) of young calves. These stomachs are a by-product of veal production."

Some words to look out for: Rennet, Rennin, chymosin (Rennet contains rennin which is also called chymosin)

Links to read up and be informed:

There are vegetarian alternatives, so no worries. And PANEER is safe. just look it up.
