Do some research on this forum, Its a well known problem, a sandesh has been issued by akaal takht sahib banning this from happening, every gurdwara in the UK received a copy, yet they still do it. It will be dealt with as are every other gurdwara.

Its not a new problem, its being worked on already.

Attached is a copy of the sandesh if you havent read it.

I know this Gurdwara, go there every Sunday. Had no idea about the meat/alcohol, though I do know they have gigs and stuff there. TBH there is very little youth who go there because they want to. Even I go only because my parents do and I go with them.

Most of the Committee, from what I've heard from my father, are involved in less than honorable acts and will only do something if they get something out of it. For example, the martial arts teacher there who taught Shin-Kin once informed the committee that there was a grant that could be obtained from the Government for improving the Gurdwara (or something like that) and the committee replied by asking "What do we get?". Explains why meat/alcohol is served there, in the same place where they teach Punjabi classes.

Even the "Giani" is into more worldly things rather than Sikhi.

Like I mentioned, very few Sikh youth go there. The ones that do go because their parents drag them there. There is nothing there for them, so they stand around outside chatting. I know because I used to be one of them as a teenager. Once the older generation pass on, no one will attend the Gurdwara and hopefully it will be shut down, instead of anti-Panthic activity such as this going on.

The committee are also very slow in reacting to anything and take their time over any action. There was a clear land behind the Gurdwara that the committee made plans to extend the Gurdwara, making it bigger. They didn't do anything about it for years and now there's a massive mosque there instead!

This is what the committee is like and I'd rather not be amongst them if I can help it.

YE ITS A DISGRACE, OUTSIDE ON THE HALL THEY GOT A BIG KHANDA WITH JASSA SINGH RAMGHARIA HALL WRITTEN UNDERNEATH IT, YET INSIDE THE HALL, MEAT AND ALCOHOL IS ALLOWED TO BE SERVED..ITS A PISSTAKE AND ACTION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN PROMPTLY!

JASSA SINGH RAMGHARIA WAS A GREAT SIKH WARRIOR AND LOOK HOW THEY BRING HIS NAME DOWN, ACTUALLY THEYRE BRINGING DOWN THE WHOLE PANTH'S NAME WITH ACTIONS LIKE THESE.

FUNNY HOW MAYA WORKS.

Break the mould by having an active presence in those Guru Ghars! It's the shortage of Gursikhs within these congregations that lead to manmat creeping in. Birmingham is fortunate to have a large group of young Gursikhs, but it's time to spread out from your local Gurdwaras and physically travel to Gurdwaras where the Congregation are on the weak side. It's a commitment that needs to be taken by all of us.

I personally think that this coupled up with the setting up Jathas, misals, Campaigns, parchaar/literature can help to wash out the corruption and boost the morale of our Panth!

Do not just isolate the problems to just specific "caste" run Gurdwaras as it is only digressive and will always cloud the real issues. Treat the "caste" run Gurdwara as your own local Guru Ghar. With time the malpractices will be erdicated, but we need a long term level of commitment to the running of those Guru Ghars, even if it is only in the langer hall or joriya de sewa.

The comittee are disgraceful, if you don't agree with their decisions or opinions they come and break your windows. The current president has been in power for about 9 years and many people are to scared to stand up to him beacue of the consequences.

There is no activiteis organised for the youth apart from punjabi classes, no wonder so many of the regular attendent's children have married goray/ sullah.

Even a while ago there was controversy there because of the hygiene problem. which involved a lot of rats. But what did the comittee do?? NOTHING

Yeah speaking of the mosque the Gurdwara is located in a predominately muslim area and by not buying up the land it just further increased the sullah dominance. That land could have been used for sporting activities for the youth, or anything else to attract them.

In 20-30 years time when the older generation pass away I can just imagine this Gurdwara being turned back into a club as it was 40 years ago or even a mosque........do we really want this to happen? This Gurdwara is loacted in a mainly pakistani area where most of the Sikhs have moved out and many have just forgotten about tghis Gurdwara, they're more interest in Smethwick or Soho road Gurdwara.

Why has this thread been moved??? It is NOT about the other ramgharia Gurdwara which had a wedding between a muslim and a sikh, this is a DIFFERENT gurdwara.

    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
