Continuation of translation 8

In the scriptures with any incantation one should have knowledge of 6 things with it. These six in this incantation are; -

1) Isht – This is the demi god the prayer is about. With this incantation it is about God as he is the greatest being of all.

2) Rikhi – The one who created the prayer. This is Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

3) Shakti – The one who makes the creator put together the prayer. This was Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji who made Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji put the prayer together at Sri Kartarpur Sahib.

4) Chhant – This is the measure or tone that the prayer should be in. The Sri Jap Ji sahib is in the tones and measures of the music of Asa and Gujaree. This is written about in the life story of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

5) Keelak – This is the one who preserves the scripture. This is Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji who placed the great prayer at the start of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

6) Beej – This is the root of the prayer. The root of the Sri Jap Ji Sahib is <>.

The Sidhs hearing this discourse up to this point asked, “Is the form of God true through the three stages of time?”

The reason why this question was asked is due to the Sidhs wanting Guru Nanak Dev Ji to agree and say that God was true through the three stages of time. They did this as there are actually four stages of time. They also thought that if Guru Nanak Dev Ji stated the four stages of time then they would say the three. They thought they could beat Guru Nanak Dev Ji in this way by trying to trick them.”

Guru Nanak Dev Ji answered the question posed to him

Guru Nanak Dev Ji answer, “There are only three periods of time mentioned.” They went on to explain

Guru Nanak Dev Ji went on to answer the question

“One will see such a form that is manifest with which following a person’s death it will remain the form of truth. After a person leaves their body it will never die and when a person is born it will never take birth. God is such a form of truth that you will propagate that it can never be destroyed. When that form of truth manifests itself you will also become the form of truth. You will never again take birth or die.”

The Sikhs then asked, “God after he made all of creation did he gain the attachment to all of his creation?”

Guru Nanak Dev Ji said, “No, God is like this. He does not increase or decrease in any way. When he made all of creation he still remained the divine Lord. He was true then and is true now. Just as iron when turned into a sword still remains iron. In the same way when God is manifest in creation he still remains the divine.”

The Sikhs then asked, “God who you talk about. What sort or variety is he?”

Translation 12

The Sidhs then asked, “What faith are we to have in God ourselves? What should we take his form to be?”

Guru Nanak Dev Ji replied the following

Awid scu jugwid scu

Aad Sach Jugaad Sach

Aad = primordial beginning, day, Sach = faith, Jugaad = the ages, change of day to night

Speaking metaphorically Guru Nanak Dev Ji said that one should have full faith in God. One should take him to be a rope in the primordial beginning, which is like the day. During the day one can see what the rope is and it is not mistaken for another. Later it can be mistaken for a snake in the dark. However the rope never changes into a snake but always stays as it is. By having faith one understands this.

hY BI scu

Hai Bhi Sach

Hai Bhi = At this point, Sach = faith

At the point where one gets it into their mindset that the rope is actually a snake, then again the snake only exists in the mind while the reality of the matter is that it is still a rope. One understands this is they keep faith.

nwnk hosI BI scu ]1]

Nanak Hosi Bhi Sach. 1.

Hosi Bhi = change from night to day, Sach = faith, truth

At this point the light of truth dispels the idea of the rope being a snake. This shows all along that the rope remained the same and the snake was only in the mind of the person that was deceived. This in the same is how people see God clouded by the illusion of Maya until the mercy of a spiritual master helps to dispel the illusion revealing God.

For this reason Guru Nanak Dev Ji said that they should concentrate on the true Lord. The divine form is similar to the rope while the illusion known as Maya makes it seem like a snake. Even when one sees God as a snake he will forever remain a rope. This shows that God will continue to remain in the same form always.

Before we end of the meanings for the root incantation, I think it is necessary to also understand the meanings for the name of Nanak. The meanings are listed below.

nwnk

Nanak

Na = without, Nak = duality

This is a person who is without duality. This person is unique and distinguished.

This is the reason why God chose this name when they came in the form of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

nwnk

Nanak

Na = No, Anak = other

This is the form of a person who has no duality or another like them.

nwnk

Nanak

Na = being, person, complete An = without, exempt, Ak = pain, suffering

This is a being that is exempt from pain and suffering. He is a complete being and is the form of supreme conscious and bliss.

This was the true form of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. They assumed this form in order to protect the saints.

nwnk

Nanak

Na = instigator, Nak = enlightener

This person is the instigator of everything in everyone. He is the enlightener of all. He gives all people contentment and liberates all.

nwnk

Nanak

Na = being, person, An + Ak = without suffering

God who is the being that is exempt from suffering and pain that is Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

nwnk

Nanak

Nan = fortune, Naku = liberator

The one who gives fortune to others. The one who grants people boons. The liberator of all and gives everyone contentment.

This is known as the root incantation by all the institutions in Sikhism however there is a split at where the root incantation ends. The oldest institutions of Sikhism believe that the root incantation ends at Nanak Hosi Bhi Sach (nwnk hosI BI scu ]). The later institutions believe that the root incantation ends at Gur Parsad. I myself personally follow the belief of the older institutions and believe the root incantation ends at Nanak Hosi Bhi Sach.

This is the Mool Mantar (root incantation) and the beginning of the Sri Jap Ji Sahib.

I read the tract "MOOL MANTAR - From Ik Oankaar To Nanak Hosi Bhi Sach" published by Damdami Taksal and I'm assuming it summed up the arguement in favour of Mool Mantar up to Nanak Hosi Bhi Sach or at least from DDT's point of view...

I was pretty dissappointed after reading it...the arguement in favour of Mool Mantar up to Nanak Hosi Bhi Sach is illogical and contradictory...at least it is in this book...

well the book starts off with a mangal/chaupaee which describes how each one of the ten Guroo Sahibs gave a word for the Mool Mantar...

Guru Nanak gave unique One.

Oankar was given by Guru Angad

Satnam by Guru Amar Dass

Karta by Ram Dass Guru

Purkh by Sri Arjun who was benevolent

Nirbhau by Hargobind guru

NIrvair by Sri Har Rai

Akal Murat remember by Har Krishan

Ajuni said Tegh Bahadur

Saibhang by Dasmesh

Gurparsad Granth, the source of spiritual knowledge

Waheguru, God is being worshipped

it is ended with a small 1...which indicates a footnote, this quote, from Gurmukh Prakash, is ended...doesn't this actually kinda show that Mool Mantar is up to Gurparsad.

After this quote, there is another one...

World is created by universal truth

Truthful name of God previals everywhere

Truth is prevailing everywhere

Truth taht will remain is unique in itself

His name be worshopped in all the times

Thus (worshipping) we would surmount turbulence faced by us

this one is ended with a small 2

what it looks like to me is that the first quote and second quote were just put together...they were not originally written together consecutively...I could be wrong, this is what it looks like to me

I'm kind of busy right now, I'll try to write more later on today...
