Keshi Ishnaan

Recommended Posts

i think if you use a hairdryer everyday then it mite damage ur hair. but if u set it to a cool setting and hold it at a distance from ur hair, then it shud be ok.
Exactly, hair dryer isn't a really good idea.
best thing to do is let ur kesh dry natuarally tho............dunno try waking up earlier???
Yup, that should be the best option

why would u wannna put a keski around ur whilst u washh ur hair? just put it on the side or something, and whilst ur doing ur bani putting a chunni over ur head keeps it covered as long as u got ur panj kakkar on then its alright isnt it?

because some of us were told by our panj piayre that keski is the 5th kakar therefore we must keep it with us at all times. (p.s-not causing a keski v kesh debate)

And I am a Singh, so I don't use chunni  , although Singhs do wrap keski as a chunni after keshi ishnaan for doing Nitnem, which was my question in the first place.

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa

Vaheguru Ji Ki Fathe

In the morning the first thing i do is kesi ishnaan, after this i brush my teeth and stuff, do ma sarir ishnaan, by this time it has usually been about half an hour, (my kesh is not fully dry but is dry enough), then tie my bunga, keski, then get fully ready and stuff, i usually change my kamar kassa evry few days otherwise it cripples up and gets smaller (width wise), after this i do mool mantar jaap while tying my dhumalla while sitting in singhasan, you should sit in asan while tying your dastar, after this i do my nitnem. One thing to be noted is that ishnaan isnt just to put water and soap on yourself, but to do gurmatar da jaap at the same time, so you have a physical and spiritual cleansing at the same time. What do you think.

While conducting kesi ishnaan i keep my keski on like a table, platform thingy, my bunga on top of it. My Kamar Kassa is obviously on, lol.

While doing sarir ishaan, i tie my kamar kassa around my keski as you would around your kamar and place my kirpan the same way i would as if it were around my waiste.

Please comment and please ask any questions if you have any, please dont hesitate and keep quiet about your suggestions, even if they are contradictory to what I have written aboce, i may have missed out many things, but when writing from the top of your head, you tend to forget things, lol.

Bhul Chuk Maaf Karni.

Why is it wrong to do nitnem with kesh open but covered with keski???

i dont think its wrng....

well nrmally i do kesi ishnan first nd i use ma keski as kamakassa as it is helpful to hold ur sri shaib arnd waist nd to place kanga in it... nd den i tie new keski nd place ma kanga nd kirpan on keski...(wash ma kanga evryday aswell)) nd den i do sarir ishnan ... nd while doin all ishnaan m doin mulmantar jaap as panj pyare said... (well m tryin to) ... nd den i leave ma hair open jus covered by keski nd do ma nitnem nd simran.... nd afta finish dis straightway i jump bak to bed for another 1 hour ... coz ma hair tuk roughly more den 3 hrs to dry nd while sleepin i jus leave ma hair open ....

and another thing i wanna share as i personally think hairdryers r nt gud really(well nt mine offcors) coz nrmally we do kesi ishnaan so dat our head stay cool while doin simran nd nitnem as it really helps when we meditate as most of d singhs do kesi ishnaan wit cold water.... bt dis hairdryers makes our head warm again lol... oda i dunno much abt hairdryers coz dis is ma first one nd it gives hott air so better leave ur hair for dryin in natural way...

NOW SANGAT JIII PLS CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG NEWHERE COZ M NEW HUNA... CHANGA JIII

BHUL CHUK MAAF

    • Umm, that's totally irrational, bro. There are plenty of prakash-dara Singhs in Punjab (less than we'd like, but still plenty). No one cares that you are sabat soorat. It isn't 1986. You can walk around in chola, kurta-pajama, or jeans. Whatever. If you want the look @dallysingh101 is referring to, just go into a cheap clothing shop (not a Western-style mall) and buy some shirts for 250 rupees or a track suit for 2000 rupees. You'll get the cheap stuff made in some sweatshop in Bombay.
    • The Mind is Jyot Saroop (Waheguru), but the mind is under the influence of five evils… Through Naam Simran( Rememberance), the mind will begin to detach from evil, and get back to its original form ( MANN TU JYOT SAROOP HEH)… Until the mind breaks free from the five evils, one will go through the cycle of paap and punn….which leads to Karma… Naam Simran destroys past karma, and prevents new karma coming into fruition… I did this, I did that… This non realisation of the Jyot Saroop gives rise to paap and Punn, which in turn gives birth to suffering and misery…
    • I agree we're not born with sin like the Christians think. Also I agree we have effects of karma. But Gurbani does state that the body contains both sin and charity (goodness): ਕਾਇਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਾਪੁ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਈ ॥ Within the body are the two brothers sin and virtue. p126 Actually, we do need to be saved. Gurbani calls this "udhaar" (uplift). Without Satguru, souls are liable to spiritual death: ਜਿਨਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲ ॥ p40 Those who have not met Satguru Purakh are unfortunate and liable to death. So, yeah, we do need to be saved, and Guru ji does the saving. The reason Satguru is the one to save is because God has given Satguru the "key" (kunji): ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹਥਿ ਕੁੰਜੀ ਹੋਰਤੁ ਦਰੁ ਖੁਲੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਮਿਲਾਵਣਿਆ ॥੭॥ In the True Guru's hand is the key. None else can open the door. By perfect good fortune the Guru is met. p124
    • That's unfortunate to hear. Could you give any more information? Who was this "baba"? He just disappeared with people's money? Obviously, you should donate your money to known institutions or poor people that you can verify the need of through friends and family in Punjab.
    • Sangat ji,  I know a family who went Sevewal to do seva sometimes end of 2019. They returned last year in great dismay and heart broken.  To repent for their mistakes they approached panj pyaare. The Panj gave them their punishment / order to how t make it up which, with Kirpa, they fulfilled.  They were listening to a fake Baba who, in the end, took all the "Donations " and fled sometime over a year ago. For nearly 4 years this family (who are great Gursikhs once u get to know them) wasted time and effort for this fake Baba. NOT ONLY this one fam. But many, many did worldwide and they took their fam to do seva, in village Sevewal, city Jaitho in Punjab. In the end many families lost money in thousands being behind this Baba. The family, on return, had to get in touch with all the participants and told them to stop.  I am stating this here to create awareness and we need to learn from whom we follow and believe. It's no easy but if we follow the 3 S (Sangat, Simran and Seva) we will be shown the light. As I am writing this the family in question have been doing the same since 2008 onwards and they fell for this Baba... it is unbelievable and shocking.  This am writing in a nutshell as am at work on my break so not lengthy but it deserves a great length.  Especially the family in question, who shed light on youngsters about Sikhi 20 plus years!!
