Pgce Students And Nqt's

i was wondering if there are any teachers NQT or PGCE studens here cos im applying for PGCE next yr and needed some help with my personal statement once i start it i know ill be fine but wot makes a good personal statement?

any/all advice and guidence appreciated

Just to get you started. Think about what makes a good teacher and then make sure the statement shows that you are aware of these factors. Also relate to any experiences that you may have had, that would demonstrate situations where you have had some experience in those areas. Include experiences from work, personal life etc. i.e. I helped train new staff when I was employed at blah blah blah....this involved..

Reference your educational and work experience to the specialist subject that you want to teach as well.

Explain why you want to be a teacher and explain why you think you would be particularly suitable for the role.

Finally arrange for some volunteer work observing a teacher at work or as a classroom assistant.

Yup. Thats brilliant advice.

Also they love the word differentiation and try and mention this somewhere here or in your interview. How its important to understand all pupils have different learning styles (V A K) and abilities and how your lessons need to carter for this.

Focus on why you think you'll make a good teacher.

If you need any other advice just let me know. I just started my PGCE.

Mention the strands of "every child matters" framework, they'll go weak at the knees..... and catering for children where English is an additional language as well kids who are gifted n talened n for those who have special educational needs...... if that doesnt work u can put me down as a refernce n il say u worked in my class (for a nominal fee ofcourse)

aaaaaaaw thank you very much guys I very much appreciate the advice. I think the next step to begin drafting out and initial statement and when im done I will update this thread and if it would not be too much trouble, one of you guys caould check it for me.
